Shure E5C cable turning green

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to buy a Shure E5C from a friend.

Trouble is... the cable is starting to turn green. Will this affect the sound eventually?

I checked out the earphones and it sounds really good. What can I do about the cable? Can anyone tell me if I can have it changed to the new black cables?

Firstly the greenish part should be only on the surface of the inner tube of the cable and not oxidation of the wire itself therefore shouldn't affect the sound.

Secondly there is no way to have the cable replaced or changed to the current black cable.

Thirdly this question should be posted on the portable section and not here.

Nope, it does not affect the sound quality at all. The same thing happens to the Westone and UE cables too. So not to worry.
