Yes I'm uing the 340c as a Transpot to my DacMagic. I'm using optical. Might play around with Coax one of these days. but no urge right now.

 

I wil upgrade only if I find my Dac Magic can't handle my music. tight now all's well. No urge for other sources.

 

 

@Jojo: I believe Aron mentioned 3 months before you change your CDP? I told him 3 weeks.

cable cooking is giving me heart attacks man. The changes it keep going through is scary. At 0 hrs, my 580 was totally a different beast. At 13hr 35min. the sound was pure magic. At 18hrs and counting currently, sounded wrong. letting it run in now.

 

never heard so much difference in sound changes during burn in before.

 

anyway calvin thanks for cooking my 580. i am now a firm believer in the power of cable cooking. could do without the heart attacks that comes with the aftermath thou.

 

No problem bro. It's behavior is normal. Give it some time to settle down and changes will stop.

Change to coax for your DAC lah. It works better than optical. Btw, tweak is more poisonous than any upgrades.

Yes indeed. Optical is too clinical. Superbly detailed, but can be grainy, harsh and very bright. Coax tames the sound, smoother and less tiring on the ears.

Actually i have a Belden Brilliance Coax cable terminated w/ nice crimpped Canare RCA plugs. It actually gives a warm sound the problem is it also narrows the soundstage alot.

 

I will try out a few until I get the ones I want but i will be sticking to Optical for the Moment until I borrow Cals cable. The QED looks nice.

 

What I want to try is Eric's new toy. It cost more than a audiophile power cable. lol!.

Any power cables you can recommend me to try. I was hoping to get a "bit" more bass. =)

No problem bro. Pass it to you when we meet up. Do remind me cos memory not very good nowadays. Seem like getting old.

 

You can look at Acrolink 4030 or Oyaide Tunami(Eric and Kachui owned them). Available at Audio Basic. Owner Steven do offer home trial for regular customer. Kachui is close to him so get him to help you to borrow and try if it matches your rig. 4030 is the one that Kidult mentioned which has very good bass.

That someone forgot to bring the Singtel number and prior to arriving to Singapore, had travelled 600 on the road and another 1200km on the air. Was too tired and had cramped legs. Only listened to music and spent most of the time taking much needed rest while there on short stay. The said person would like to apologize for not informing. Had to make an 'impromptu' visit. Hopefully would be back around late April.

 

Waiting for girlfriend to arrive from San Francisco in a week's time!
