Hi!

Recommended Posts

I go by geek in most places, but i'd think its pretencious, so i go by faileas in most places (not fail lah, its scots gaelic. picked it out of a dictionary cause it means shadow, and shadow was taken, and i was like 'augggg...' and picked a random language to translate).

I have to admit, i'm not really an audiophile- my equipment is very the... humble compared to many here (until last week, a sennheiser eh150 that was falling apart - i got a Audiotechnica ATH-M50 (eh.. listened to one, fell in love with the sound. on hindsite, should have tried a few more *g*), a mbox used for a home recording studio (mom does indian classical singing), laptop(IBM r61 + foobar2000 or amarok (on linux and an ipod (sound quality isn't great, but i like the space ;p). I also have a Hd202, but it sounds kinda bad compared to the other two i mentioned, though if i can be bothered to burn it in, it might be almost acceptable

I'm a wee bit cursed with good hearing so.. i suspect i'll be doing minor improvements when i can. I'm currently itchy to see if i can get a sub 100 dollar headphone amp.

(no i'm not an addict yet! or that's what they all say.)

the modest ATH-M50 used to be one of my favorite headphones... I'll say it's still the BEST, IMHO, at that price range. :cans:

While i *have* done fixes (instructables got one jack replacement howto i did ;p), i generally prefer to wait till something breaks >_>.I'm not so confident in my DIY skills to open up worky things, if borken things fixed, less heartbreak and heartattack

. My main issue right now is the crapload of 128 kbps cbr mp3s i have (back when i was still using stock mp3 player headphones ...), and the ipod needing an amp (got most of the parts for a cmoy. need to build though >_>)- since the same stuff sounds better on my laptop.
