wink.gif i'm getting better at the DIY adaptors after a few tries, now i don't solder the legs to the board first.
i find it easier to solder the op-amp onto the board together with the legs in place then cut off the excess legs on top.

Not all AD opamp models have the package in DIP. The AD8066 that u r looking for in ur Cmoy thread comes in surface mount packages only. Hope u took note of that.

The LM386 has a different pin-out from opamps and so you can't just do op-amp rolling. So you are probably out of luck here.

Good DIY project? Depends on level of your soldering skill. The SOHA with JISBO buffers, Bijou tube amp, CKIII2K are all good moderate cost amps. But these are not beginner's projects. If you want a good portable amp then the Mini3 is very good. You can even buy a kit for it. Check out the Classifieds for an advert for it.

For phones, you will get a better response in the other subforums, eg portable or home. This is the DIY subforum.

How much does the OPA627 cost? I was thinking of getting one if someone can help me fit it on a browndog adapter so that it can be socketed in my amp (I can't do any DIY... sleep.gif ) . I am currently using the AD8620, and largely agree with bpribadi's impressions. It pairs really well with the HD650, which isn't bright fortunately and in fact benefits from the slight brightness and detail of the op-amp. But I remember liking the OPA627 more when I had my PIMETA, for the rich, warm and very musical sound signature.

Really nice amp, bpribadi, btw. happy.gif

Hi,thanks for posting. Im also interested in purchasing an OPA627. Kindly pm me,im very much interested. Thanks!

Anyway. try going to Koba at Peoples Park Center I believe they also sell opamps. If buying thru web and don't mind paying more. You can buy from sg.farnell.com. They have same/next day delivery free for orders above 30sgd. =)

Hey, avoid the OPA627! It's a dull sounding opamp. Detailed but dulllllll.... it's useless for enjoying music.

Try a couple of OPA132UA on proper Browndog: these sound good...

Or, if your Pimeta can take bipolar opamps, try two LT1028CS8, or an LME49723MA (best of the LME).
