Tube Amp for Headphones (shortly, tube headphone amps) are compact variations of headphone amps. They often feature lamp-like tubes in their design which is the reason why they got such a name.

The article mentions "Volume Boost" for Solid State (SS) amps, however, since vacuum tube amps require direct AC current and high voltages compared to SS amps, the tube amps generally have a LOT more power for headphones.

Note that despite having "more harmonic distortion", tube amps generally have a more "liquid" sound, which is so gratifying that the most expensive headphones are mated to tube amps. Sennheiser's $55000 USD headphone for example.
Blue Mic Ella, B&O H4, V-MODA Wireless2, Fischer FA011-AE, Senal SMH1200, DragonFly Red/Oppo HA2 DAC/amps, Lehmann Traveler amp.
