bpribadi, the OPA 2107 you put into my pimeta is very good. Been listening to it last night and today. Very detailed and yet not fatiguing to listen to. Definitely an improvement over the OPA2228. Yes, it's good. Thanks.

got my AD8066AR samples today smile.gif

i havn't figure out how u made the adpators yet bram, but i "borrowed" some ideas from your pic tongue.gif

still using the DIP8 adaptors, but this time i bend the legs of the opamp, this made it a little easier to solder onto the DIP8

now testing the chip with the jason amp, it does not sound as "far" as u mentioned the other day, will post more later smile.gif

Your soldering work is amazing Tropical !!! thumbup1.gif

I see very little melted part of the DIP 8 socket which amazing !!!

You can also try the AD8066 in one of your CMoy... happy.gif (I saw you have made a lot of CMoy in the pass thread)

Not yet. the slew rate looks on the normal speed, around 12V/us. Comparable with OPA2228.

just finished soldering the 8616 on dip8 holders smile.gif

now testing it with a basic A47 configured as Cmoy, i hav to say it sounds very similar to the 8066 & 2228 closer maybe to the 8066.

i think the 2228 is a "picky" op-amp, sounds good only in some amps, when i first tried it with a cmoy it sounded thumbdown.gif but in the jason amp it sounds thumbup1.gif

AD8616

has good speed, very similar to 8066, works well in a Cmoy, maybe not as detailed as 8066.

one interesting finding to share smile.gif with the 8616 op-amp in my A47, when i fitted the second op-amp with a JRC4556, the amp has no sound, i think the 4556 somehow made the 8616 unstable, when i switch off the amp i can hear the music "fizzle" for 1/2 sec before it cuts off.

A47 with 8616 + 8616 works fine

A47 with 8616 + 2134 works fine

A47 with 8616 + JRC4556 no sound

strange...anyone has any idea why the A47 doesn't work with the 8616 + 4556 combo? the gain on my A47 is 6 unsure.gif

I have just switched out an OPA 2107 for the AD8620 in my Pimeta and through my DT880, it sounds very very good. I think the AD8620 is a good match for my headphones and it sounded too bright earlier probably because my pimeta has not run in sufficient yet.

If you are planning pimeta/PPA and using DT880, you may want to consider the AD8620 but only after running in your amp for a long time.

yep, use the JRC4556 as ground.

i finally recieve the AD8620 today smile.gif mounted them on dip8

now the my Jason amp has a new configuration rolleyes.gif

2 * AD8620 for left/right channels

1 * AD8066 for ground * rail spliter

i think i like this combo best laugh.gif the amp is fast, detailed, and lots of kick on SR80

these arrived today on my bd smile.gif "gifts" from AD tongue.gif

AD797 single channel op-amps

not sure if anyone else tried them before, AD says these are good for pre-amps, with very low noise

i hav them mount on DIY adpators and driving in my desktop amp.

the 797 sounds good, very warm like opa2132 but more detailed, i find it to be a good match for my HD595 better midrange then 2132 and not as analytical as the 8610, adds very nice body to the music

Aahhh.... it's been quite sometime since the last time I loged in tongue.gif

Been busy with other things, and my office notebook spoiled... but it is a good news, because it means I'm getting a new one biggrin.gif

hi5, I have no experience with McCormack amp, so I cannot tell which op-amp suitable for it. And it is also depend on you music taste. What is lacking for you with the current AD71?

Nice work tropicalrips thumbup1.gif And,... Happy "belated" B'day !!!
