Mackie 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2003 (edited) To avoid clogging the sales threads with unrelated queries and facilitate easy monitoring by both buying and selling parties, for WTB, WTS, interest-check ads: 1. Please limit all discussions to product details such as age, condition, warranty, accessories included, etc. 2. Discussions on how good/bad the product is should be done in the main forum. 3. All negotiations on price for eg. are to be done PRIVATELY via pm/email. 4. If you think the price is too high, nobody's forcing you to buy the item. Posts of the "the price is too high. you should lower the price"-nature will be instantly deleted. The owner of the thread may stipulate his choice of time/place for transactions and contact number. Update 21 Aug 2012 50 posts and 30 days restriction were removed. ** UPDATE *** 1 Apr 2007 Please note that with immediate effect, members are only allowed to post For Sale(FS) / Interest Check(IC) threads in the Classifieds if they have fulfilled the following criteria: 1. Have been a member for a minimum of 30 days 2. Have a minimum post count of 50 This is in line with our policy to encourage posting in the main forums, and prevent certain members from abusing the privilege of buying/selling gear in the Classifieds. This is, first and foremost, a discussion forum, and we hope our members see this as more than just an avenue for profiteering. ***Update 3 March 2010*** Any member who spam or post meaningless messages in order to build up post counts may at discretion of the mods, be barred from further posting, for an arbitrary number of days. for FYI ads: 1. Please limit dicussions on FYI ads (referred from other forums or public classifieds) to details of the product. 2. Keep it BRIEF. 3. If you'd like in-depth discussion/opinions on the product posted, or comparisons with similar products, please do post it in the main forum. You are advised to update your classifieds threads with the corresponding status of your sale/interest check/purchase. For example, if your item has sold/is pending sale, please edit your thread title accordingly, as well as update your thread to reflect its status. *** UPDATE *** No Auctions are to be posted in the Classifieds, only FS - For Sale, Trade, WTD - Wanted, WTS - Want To Sell, IC - Interest Check, FYI - For Your Info & Power Buy Ads are allowed. *** UPDATE to Classifieds Rule *** OP-Amp sellers are required to submit a scanned copy of their invoice to any moderator before placing ads in the classifieds. This is to hinder those that are abusing op-amp manufacturer's programs for free samples. This rule will be strictly enforced. *** UPDATE to Classifieds Rule *** October 2005 Sellers of non-audio related items will be subject to approval. If you have more than 25 posts that are audio related and wish to sell non-audio related items on a personal basis (ie garage sale) that will be allowed without requiring prior approval. Vendors ( ie retailers) of clothing items, vitamin supplements, hair loss treatment, weight loss products etc will not be allowed to post in the classifieds. The Classifieds forum is the most heavily-moderated forum in sgheadphones all posts breaking the above rules can & will be deleted without warning Edited August 21, 2012 by yotiao

N@Z 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 (edited) NOTE: Vendors should declare themselves as such in the classifieds. No unsolicited emails or PMs (Private Messages) are allowed. All Ads should be within the Classifieds forum. Edited September 25, 2005 by N@Z
N@Z 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 BUMP! Note, since alot of members have been ignoring repeated warnings from Moderators, from here onwards, Posts not directly related (Read: discussions) in the Classifieds Forum will be deleted automatically by us without warning. A final PM will be sent from the moderators & those that continue to ignore it will have their warn meters increased.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 A little bit of transparency is in order concerning this particular SGH's Policy: (Thanks courtesy of member heady) The purpose is to keep the Classifieds forum clean of irrelevant information not pertaining to the sale. That's why there are different forums provided. During the early stages of the forum, we had problems where there were pages upon pages of discussions & nothing pertaining to the sale. Potential buyers had to sift through the posts which is tedious. It is normal in most forums & also common courtesy to the seller & potential buyers. If anyone has queries not directly related to the sale (like how does this sound with this, what's your opinion about this...) then PM (Private Message) is the preferred mode or if necessary post the query into the relevant forum (if the information cannot be obtained after making a search). Although SGH's policy prefers not to have dicussions at all most of the moderators are lenient when the queries are directly related to the Ad. For example, should the seller forgets to mention things like: age, condition, price, request for photos, etc. We could make it like Echoloft & lock the Ad after the first post but that becomes tedious should the seller needs to make updates, bump the thread or add/remove information to the Ad. The only way is to repost a new Ad which will cause lots of duplicative & outdated Ads. Hope that explains the situation a little further. Thanks also for all your understanding concerning the matter.
