zuglufttier 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2003 Hi there! I think I will be getting a really cheap Sony MDR V7. I would just like to know what you think of these headphones. Which headphones are in the same class or price range?
Q00 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2003 ive not been around too long but i think u mean the MDR V700 rite? Havent heard of the V7 before. Why not head down to head-fi and do a quick search. I think its pretty rare that people here will listen to a Sony besides the cd3k and the V6/7506's
zuglufttier 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2003 I did search there... Found nothing! I only found on google some hints, that it is the bigger brother or sister of the V6 (it's not the V700, it's an older model, I guess).
zuglufttier 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2003 This is the one I'm talking about. For 14,20 Euro plus shipping I think it is rather inexpensive http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...item=3046240268 I will post my findings when I have received them... Q00 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2003 looks suspiciously like V6... pictures arent clear...
evo 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2003 looks suspiciously like V6... i agree looks like the CD900ST [more expensive clone of V6] with its red sticker if so it looks like a good buy, since they are actually V6 one of the popular closed headphones
Q00 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2003 its almost impossible to tell.... but if it is the cd9000st, its the uprated version of the v6 made by sony music, not the parent company itself... interesting history.. hehehe
zuglufttier 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2003 Oh well, whatever it is, I will be telling you, if I can find out for myself
zuglufttier 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 They finally have arrived The writing on the headphones says: Sony MDR V7 It looks like the picture evo posted. But "R" and "L" are not blue but golden! But they are actually sounding fine and have a much stronger bass than my Sennheisers. Well, it is a closed one For 14 Euro they definately rock But the pads are quite worn out Any workaround here? I don't like the leather or whatever it is... Q00 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 wow... they must be some sort of limited edition or something... so its a V7? try doing the dt250 pad mod?...i wonder if it will fit just like the v6
zuglufttier 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Maybe I will try this, if you are going to tell me how it works
Q00 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 search in head-fi.org for the v6 pad mod.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 It's very simple to remove but a little trickier to put back on. The Beyer DT250 ear pads (velour) should be an exact replacement if the dimensions of the V7 driver enclosure is the same as the V6. Bare in mind although the Beyer mod will make it alot more comfortable it will make the sound slightly 'darker' than original (as happened in the case of the 7506/V6). Rameish 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 (edited) Would not recommend the Beyer pads as they make the mids recessed but does provide better bass. It topples the balance of the headphone IMO of course. Edited September 25, 2003 by Rameish
