N@Z 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2004 This might be useful information for some members who are not aware of it and if you do not have access to direct image hosting on the internet. You can attach image files in you posts as follows: 1. Scroll to the very bottom of the page concerned & click on the "+ADD REPLY" button. 2. On the next page scroll to below the text input box under the heading "File Attachments". Click on the "Choose" button. 3. A window will pop up showing the contents of your hard drive. Select the file you want to attach. 4. Finally click "Add Reply". The next page should show your post with the attached image at the bottom of your post. Note: - Only one (1) image is allowed per post. - For bandwidth reasons please restrict your image file size not more than 100kb. - Only image files with extension .jpg & .gif are allowed. - You cannot preview your attached file (only works if you have direct image hosting) however, you can re-edit it should you want to later. - If you need help resizing your images etc, PM me for help. Otherwise I highly recommend for PC users IrfanView which is a fast & easy to use graphic viewer/resizing freeware program.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2004 Another alternative Thanks to tbdoah from head-fi I managed to learn how to do the thumbnail image linking to full size source the vbcode is as follows: { url="address of full image" }{ img }address of thumbnail image{ /img }{ /url } Note: change the { } to [ ] A few examples, click on the images... Depending on how your browser is set it will either open in a new window or within your existing one.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 (edited) Free Photo Hosting Websites You can register for free to any of these hosts. Upon activation of your account (some don't require it but it limits your functions) you can upload your chosen photos to the host which can be used to link directly into the forum rather than uploading them directly to the SGH forum (which is limited to 100kb/image) which is kinder on our finite bandwidth & storage. Photobucket The most userfriendly & customisable (folders) of the lot but lately prone to server going down, probably due to too many users & bandwidth usage. Limited to 250kb/image. Need to register before use. Currently you get 100MB of space and 2,500MB of bandwidth/month. ImageShack Very simple, you don't even have to register unless you want to see a list (note no thumbnails) of your uploaded photos. No total limit but images limited to 1024kbs/upload. Fotopages Good layout. Sadly large images get resized like photobucket. Fotopic.Net Need to register before use, 250MB of storage. Quite good layout, still trying out. Picgoo Looks similar to ImageShack but limited to 250kb/image upload. I haven't tried registering yet. IMGSpot As above but 650kb/image upload. No option to register so no way of checking back your uploaded photos, FAQ says if you lose the link just reupload again! No bandwidth & storage limit though. fansub-support.net Simple as above but... wait for it... 2MB/image upload! W00T!!! Freehosting The simplest there is of the lot. Still, it's free. Free Web Space & Free Web Hosting Self explanitory, directory/list, knock yourself out. If you find anything good let us know & give a run down of the pros & cons. N@Z 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2005 Another quick tip for attaching thumbnail images which hotlink the original larger image into posts: - Upload your intended image into ImageShack®. - Once it is uploaded, copy & paste the link provided for "Forum" directly into your post entry. See the attached image below, indicated by the arrow. - When you preview/submit the post you will see the thumbnail image in your post & clicking on the thumbnail will open the original image.
