the problem with team108 is that they have a rather limited inventory. they will not bring new stock of a cable till a customer needs at least a full reel of it.

i would be glad to answer any questions anyone might have about the rs-1, ms-2, er4p, k501, hd201, k240s, e2c or dt880. ;)

just thought you all might like to know that i am currently not based in Singapore.

btw ablaze if you're replacing the headphone cord i do not recommend the 2534.

the mogami 3106 would be better.

I dont blame them. Demand for the pro audio sector is lower compared to the consumer market. Same goes for LHS. They dont stock many Pirelli or Canare cables either...and they have got only 1 model of the Heliax cable. If you want to try quad or double-dual configurations, Canare and Klotz has some and are available at Hung Bro.

If supply is an issue, you could always order from overseas.

oh i'm sorry if i seemed to be criticising team108. i certainly did not intend that!

they have a prompt and excellent customer service and i only mentioned that point as a warning to preclude disappointment.

adhoc,
as a matter of fact, I was going to use it to make a headphone extension.
using the Klotz Star-quad now. can't help feeling there's something missing.
and it uses tinned copper, so I figured the Mogami's bare copper conductors may be better.
let me check out the 3106

No worries. Not many people uses Mogami anyway so it doesnt warrant team108 to stock a comprehensive range of their cables. To get Mogami's top of the range, you will have to travel to Japan or pay Euro dollars for those meant for the German market.

knew exactly what you wanted the moment i saw the word '2534'.

have been doing tons of research lately in finding what cable is best for replacing my dt880 stock coiled cable. i have no idea what they were smoking when they decided on that coiled cable.

IIRC tinned copper is better for this purpose than bare copper. tin does not corrode nor oxidise as easily as copper IIRC. silver plated copper should technically be worse by the same token as silver oxidises damn easily. especialy in our humid air. also i once read somewhere that silver does not 'bond' as well to copper as tin does. not sure abt that though.

the 3106 was recommended to me by wallijonn from head-fi - it's a paired set of pairs that can be eaily split to make a Y connection to both cans or fit dual seperate jacks. gerG uses the canare star quad, which i have no idea where to get in singapore. according to team108 they JUST ran out of 3106. FYI you can get genuine neutrik 1/4" stereo jacks from team108 for $4.50 each IIRC.

as a matter of fact i am going down to SLT tmw on a scoutin mission for cables. i'll let you know what i've found when i get back. hopefully SLT has the belden 89279 and 82729. i've just discovered them and they seem to fit the bill well. FEP insulation (same as teflon), tinned 24 awg, low capacitance.. yes.gif

according to Jon Risch, bare copper conductors are better than tinned copper. I'm not really worried about oxidising at this point.
of course, I'm no cable expert either.

you can get belden cables at LHS, canare cables Hung bros should have I think.

gonna try the Mogami 2534 anyway. hope they've got some.

from this site : http://www.venhaus1.com/diymains.html

QUOTE
* Each conductor contains 19 strands of .0188" tinned copper wires (about 25 AWG) for a total AWG of 12 for each conductor. The higher strand count than the 83802 increases the surface area for better contact when the connectors are screwed to the wire. Tin plating minimizes "skin-effect" by acting as a semi-Litz conductor. It also mitigates "strand-jumping" (when current "jumps" over oxidized surfaces between each conductor). In effect, this has similar advantages of solid-core cables, but with significantly better flexibility. Tin plating is considered better than silver plating because copper and tin "melt" together as opposed to the diodic barrier which is created when copper is plated with silver. Lastly, tin plating protects the copper from oxidation.

canare cables can also be found at a 1st floor corner shop in SLS. can't remember the name but its quite small and has TONS of reels of cables all over the place.

just came back from my expedition. sad to say it was quite a failure. made the major strategical error of going to SLT on a SUNDAY when all the shops are closed.

anyway not all was lost. went to SLS and got 5m of canare L-4E6S star quad and some silver solder.

warning - neutrik connectors are very very very expensive in SLS. $7-$8 compared to $4.50 team108 is offering!

btw, anyone know where to get 20% silver solder? ALL the shops in SLS only sell 4% versions..
