If you don't mind huge headphones, the Philips 890 is a nice pair of headphones at $80+. The cable may also be upgraded at a later time.

i want bass and soundstage most. but still good clear sound... and plenty of isolation.

The brief audition I had with the X-Ray->Zolt->HD650 it sounded slow for me. The HD600 was slightly faster & more airier/spacious. (The system combination with RS-1 blew me away!) I don't remember which replacement cables were on which headphones though. Other than that no other complaints with it. Top notch sounding cans with the usual sennheiser fit & comfort.

THe HD600 was using the Oelhbach replacement cable.

i've heard that cable can actually be bad for the 650's

the responce on the site looks like headrooms measurement of the grados'..cept grado's go far higher than 16,000.... measuements can be of different types.. well.. good luck.. make sure they have a 30 day return policy... please!

they are in good condition .. they include the toddthevinyljunkie.com flat pads (i no longer have the bowl pads) ... the foam of the box has been cut in half so that it can fit in a tupper ware conatainer .. but the box is in good shape... i think i may have bent the headband too often... i may just be paranoid... but it seems like it's easier to bend now... slightly less springy... a grado 1/4 to mini connector will be included.

there's also the gorver cables that are silver... for less.. including the rca's... and siltech makes some silver/copper/gold hybrids for a reasonable price.. starting at $100 ( spearitaudio.com ... that's a new zealand cable company... they get good reveiws... supposed to blow van de hul's outa the water!) ... silver isn't always better... for bass there's the eric343 nitrogen cables... they supposedly match the vd nites but have more bass... for only $130.. i think... you can have more expensive rca's put on them if you like.
