thank you fellas...how about the dt931? and are the grado sr80s good too?? u see...i intend to move slowly up the scale...right now i have the dt231 and akg k100...intend to buy the hd497 and the dt931 soon...and then finally...say over the next 1 to 2 years...a grado, dt880, k501 and finally the hd600/650...i know it sounds silly but i dont wanna "spoil" my hearing expectations too soon

guys its me again..now for strings! i kinda like a certain genre of guitar music...not really new age but a little of it...more of neuvo flamenco (think gypsy sur, ottmar liebert, armik) and the likes of latin guitar. look forward to buying more such cds in the future so perhaps i need a good recommendation for headphones best suited to strings too..? what do u guys think?? i need all the guidance i can get..perhaps u include comments on the phones u guys own yea..hope u all have fun contributing and thanks again!!!

heard the k501 and a couple of beyers are great for this genre...ive heard the senns (600) but i guess all the hype caused me to OVER-expect (if there is such a word, that is). however i have no qualms about saying it does sound very good with the likes of eva cassidy..! let me know what you pros think please..help a lost guy out thanks!

guys, was told at hung bros. that they are putting the galactic on promo cuz its gonna be replaced by a new model which would prob be priced at about 120+. just for your info..anyway, i still plan on buying another pair of headphones..this time prob the 497..cuz i cannot bear to use my akg k100! not too many people talk about it but since ive tried them a few times at a cd shop..im telling you theyre worth the money..after all, its a pity its been discontinued...anyone can recommend me phones similar to the akg k100? id really be grateful..btw thanks guys for all the advice so far..!

well...thanks guys i went down to buy the 231 today but on they only have the galactica left (the bluish one). i've bought it already but do any of you know if it is any different than the original black one in sound quality? i dont mind the appearance but i really dont know if they're both same insides diff. outsides or differently engineered versions..please help! thanks in advance..! by the way...listening without an amp first off isnt that impressive but i suppose i gotta run them in first. i do know that headroom gave the 231 five stars but i dont know if that means the bluish galactica version gets 5 stars too. i sure hope its nothing more than a facelift..HELP!

thanks guys..i suppose im still battling it out between the 497 and the 231. very different in that the 497 is open and the 231 is closed..i gotta decide soon...perhaps i need a little more help from those with the 231, as for those who've helped me regarding the 497s so far, thanks a lot!

Looking for a spare pair of cheaper phones to use as I cant bear to bring my good ones out. what'll it be? i listen to jazz/vocals and the like. some classical too but no techno and stuff. thanks! also might consider sony D66SL or the px100 and px200. so many choices..
