Chill everyone. Let's remember lots of people from all walks of life read this forum, let's not confuse and confound people. And yes, I don't play games, too old for it.

I rather not say the rules do say not to use abbreviations from SMS, IM etc. Oops, I said it. Sorry. :P

  2. welcome jojo. you finally came here. lol

i tried the proline 750 but i don't really like the highs from that can. =x

this aron mod is totally imba. lol

    Hi guys,

I don't want to spoil your fun but can you use words that people can understand? For example, what is "imba"? The point of posting is to share with others, if you use words most cannot understand, then might as well use PM, right?

I hope you take this as constructive criticism, ok?

    Thanks

  3. This thread deserves a bump.

I have been using this mod for about 6 months now on my UE 5 pro.

Isolation increased by a fair bit, bass feels much tighter now.

Note: I found a better ear foam that will make this mod perfect. Head over to Guardian Pharmacy, look out for a product named "EAR plugs" (yes it is spelt with capital EAR). It's packaging is yellow in color, and so is the ear plugs inside. It's rated Noise Reduction Rating of 29 Decibels.

What i particular like about this ear foams is the high density of it. It is not as porous as the one that is recommended. Do give it a shot!

Thanks for the tip. Just the right timing, I need to buy more foam tips.

  4. It seems the TREAD is as good as the STEPS, so why not use the TREAD instead? As far as I know, Amveco is not available here but there are other encapsulated transformers available from Farnell and RS Components, check if any of them fit into the STEPS pcb, if you still prefer to use STEPS.

  5. Good job. Nice pics. Would like to add one warning though. Before desoldering the old cable, check which is hot and which is ground, for each side. Then solder the correct cable to the correct terminal.

A bit of a problem if forget to check and then suddenly realise it when about to solder new cables. I know because it happened to me. Or maybe it happens only to forgetful old man.... :D

  6. wa, $35USD (shipping not included) for a pair of faceplate's pretty steep, maybe can ask AMB for the dimensions. Then we could do something like we did for the Mini3 the last time. Probably at $SGD35 :P

Ya, that's what keeping me from joining the MO for the faceplate..... so ex!

  7. peanutbutterjam - picture of the other side will show the back of their heads only lah. :P

BTW - the others in the group I was sitting in could discern a lot more than I could when listening. But then my ears are old and deaf already from the years of abuse.

darkkopi- thanks for your pics. I felt like I was the odd one out in the group pic. So old compared to the young ones there.

  8. Some of us in sgheadphones were invited for a preview of Sennheiser's new IE line of IEMs. Given the number of people and the number of phones available for testing, I think most people got about 5-10mins worth with each phones.

I found my ears were really lousy compared to the other forumers present, so I am shy to share my views. But I think the IE7 and IE8 may be acceptable to some people. I find the IE8 had really smooth sound but a little too laid back. And a little too much bass, even with the tunable bass at minimum.

I am starting this thread so that the other sgheadphone forumers can leave their impressions here. BTW - thanks Edwin for the invite.

Here's a photo of those I sat with:

Oh yeah, one of the forumers had a real cool collection of portable amps with him. Hmm, who wants to organise a meet? :)

  9.

I was just thinking.. it's gonna cost like a couple hundred to make tips.. or at least i think that's what the shops are charging now...

so if i saved that 200 odd, sold my iems, say the um2.. for 200.. i have 400 i could use to get a custom with a lil top up?

    makes more sense to me...

Your view sounds quite logical to me but I can also see it another way. If I use custom tips and I don't like the sound of the combo, I can still sell the IEM to find another which suits my taste better. With custom phones, it is a goner if I don't like the sound.

But this is hypothetical to me at the moment, as I haven't decided if this is a good way to do.

  10. Heady,

I think you missed the pages listed on the right then.

The guide i wrote there, is pretty comprehensive up till now. I would prefer that you can be totally sure before stating that i misrepresented. Thats a pretty dirty word nowadays considering whats happening to our local banks.

People will still find the guide they want if they click on this thread (they will be pointed to my blog), and if its just a visitor, the showcase of people's work here should entertain. I did not post the guide here in the thread itself because it would be too long and laden with pictures.

    Hi Morgan,

I was asking you to see if you did misrepresent yourself. If I am sure you did mis-represent yourself, I won't post my personal opinion, as moderator I would have deleted this entire thread. I gave you a chance to explain why this is a guide.

Unless you want to do otherwise, let's leave matters as they are, since you have said your intentions are clear and did not misrepresent the thread. I will take your word for it.

    Regards.
