    Hi CK,

Long time no see. Perhaps I am unfair to say made in China is no good. There are quality staff from China too. What I meant are those really cheap ones which are not sharp and don't cut the insulation cleanly at all. The one in the picture looks good. Made in China?

BTW, badbad2000, Koba is closed on Sundays but opens till late on weekdays, 9pm, if I am not wrong. It is at level 3 Peoples Park Complex. Good place, friendly people.

  2. Guys, I will post the group buy as soon as the boards become available. Let's hope this will be soon.

If any one of you guys have the time, please find out what's available from Farnell and what we need to get from Digikey. It will make things easier when we set up the group buy.

I will be busy for the next 3 weeks and will not have much time to set this up. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  3. Oh yes! count me in.

Heady, feel free to contact me if you need help in anything

I'll help with the face plates as usual too. :)

BTW, tot you could break open the Y1 and use it with the Y2 board too right?

Can reuse the y1 we built but sayang lah, after putting into nice case with panels. Aiyah, might as well buy another and built it from new. Building it is not difficult but buying the parts were a pain.

I dunno why I so itchy. Now I am listening to a USB-Monica+Mojo feeding a SOHA-JISBO amping a DT150 and it's so blissful listening to Diana Krall. But we DIYers must built, right? :))

  4. The ATH M50 is really good for the price. However, the earpads are not quite circumaural, need to check fit. It is a studio phone and so is very neutral. Some may feel it too cold and clinical.

While I like the ATH M50 and had one until I bought a second hand Beyer DT150 which has much better sound quality and is circumaural. But new, DT150 is quite ex. And the Dt150 is dog-ugly, whether new or second hand... :D

  5. hello! welcome to this forum!

for closed headphone and is ATH one, why not consider the ESW 9, good for close and give a very warm sounding. The best thing is to auditon it yourself at the two shop mention above :))

ESW9 are very nice phones, I like the sound and also the real leather pads but they are not circumaural, ie they rest on the ears and not around them. By all means try them out. :))

  6.

    Hey, thanks for replying.

Btw, I am really new to this HIFI or earphone thing. Any recommendation for an close earphone that can cover my ear (male ear,,,,) from ATH or other brands? Btw, I would like to buy 2nd hand one, is it safe to buy in this forum?

    Hi Stephen,

Jojo gave you very good advice. The two shops he mentioned, ie Stereo Electronics and Jaben are the two best stocked headphone shops in Singapore. Both have good knowledgeable management but also may have new staff who are "pushy" or clueless.

Go to both, audition the headphones and then buy from the place you like better. ATH have plenty of good circumaural headphone models. Depends on your taste and wallet to choose from them. Go audition, nothing to loose but some time well spent.

    Regards

Gentlemen, fellow DIYers, Warm up your soldering irons!

Seems AMB has sent the y2 boards for manufacturing. Any one interested? Please note that you will also need to order a y1 board at the same time. If got interest, then I will try to organise the group buy. Maybe mouz will help?

Buying the boards is the easy part, getting the BOM will be more challenging, especially for us in SG. If can get all the parts from Farnell, then no sweat. But if need to buy from Digi-Key, then a bit problem if done individually. So a group buy will make sense.

    What say you all?

    Regards.

  8. ical, nope. seems like it irk when someone brings up a nice equipment to attention. this is uncalled-for; been to many forums, most are keen to share what is new in the market. btw, 14th April 2007 registered; raindrop audio ain't born yet. nonetheless, raindrop audio do have a nice setup such as guru+ayon+RWA and a nice ambient.

    Hi,

I am sorry if you are offended. All I ask is that you declare your non-interests in Glow Audio.

It is fine to introduce any new product here but you just posted a picture with a link and just a very short comment. Reading your post, it was not clear to me if you are spamming or trying to post about an amp which interests you.

Hence my request for clarification. Perhaps a little more information about why the amp interests you enough to post the picture and link would have been more meaningful?

    Regards

  9.

Cool!, I think i'll do just that. Btw, what do i do after i register on Vpost? There dosent seemed to b a FAQ section on the Vpost webby. Do i just order the stuffs on amazon and ask amazon to shipped to the to the branch at california?

When you register with VPost, they will send you info on how to order. Basically, the package is sent to the VPost address in USA which then collect enough packages for a standard container (or something similar) and then send it to Singapore Post which then sends it to you.

  10. I feel that the local Senn should don't do something about promoting HD800. They've a very great launch and product but lack follow up to keep the hype going. As Chinese said: "Hit metal when it's hot". If they still want to control it's price by only available at their store, sales is going to suffer end of the day. Especially with the available of ED8 now and the coming PS1000. Honestly, with the world wide web, everything is possible. I know some of the guys going for theirs on the net.

Really hope to see it at Stereo. With their professional looking store with excellent service and personal touch, I believe it can carry the status of this flagship with pride.

Just my 2 cents worth. :smoke:

I am not in the market for the HD800, too rich for my wallet. But what you have said made perfect sense, if Senn's local office is interested to promote their audiophile products.
