  1. thanks guys laugh.gif

    I found this http://www.erji.net/read.php?tid=168718&fp...toread=&page=34

    前级:可以用1S5、DF94、1T4代换

    后级:可以用4PI1PI代换。

    http://www.erji.net/read.php?tid=168718&fp...toread=&page=70

    前级管:1S5/1T4/DF91(欧美)

    后级管:4n1n (前苏联)

So it means i can use all kinds of 1S5, DF94 and 1T4 tubes right?

Hi Kank, so the DAF91 is not worth it right?

This 4PI1PI is extinct huh? cant find any info on it.. anyone knows whether this 4n1n is good?

I wonder if any 1S5, DF94 or 1T4 tubes sound good? Any recommendations? Any shops for audition? tongue.gif

  2. Hi Guys,

I have the LD3 amp and need some information. The tubes im using now are 4P1S and 1K2/1B2. I did a search and found that the compatible ones are 1DF9, 1S5 and 4pi1pi.

Anyone here heard the tubes 1DF9, 1S5 and 4pi1pi before? How do they sound? Anywhere in singapore I can buy/test the tubes?

    Many thanks biggrin.gif

  3. Hi all! biggrin.gif

1)I just wanna know whether in this URL http://www.zhaolu.com/products/product7.htm

the D1.x系列内置2.0解码器模块, are they selling the inner parts of zhaolu without the chassis or is it something else altogether?

    http://www.zhaolu.com/products/d1.x/big4.htm

It shows the how to connect and the big circular thingy is the transformer? So I can presume it's the complete package of zhaolu without the chassis?

    3)

Ok need help to decipher the pics:

    Stock zhaolu:

Is this power supply modded zhaolu?

    Is this headphone upgrade zhaolu?

    4) I actually leaning to get a new chassis, so if D1.x系列内置2.0解码器模块 is all the parts of the zhaolu w/o chassis, den I think i will just purchase it.

Anyone knows where I can get this Chassis, called 1923T or something (or recommend anything similar?) ?

Selling my almost 1 month old RSA Hornet. As you see, it's pretty small! (Ipod not included! tongue.gif)

Reason for selling is because it's under utilised since I got my Little Dot 3, and I need $ to buy a DAC(modded zhaolu!).

    Package comes with:

    1) Hornet Amplifier

    2) 3 Batteries, 1 Accu Power(used), 2 Tysonic batteries(unused)

    3) Charger (100V-240V)

    4) Box

    5) Manual

    6) Red pouch

    7) Receipt by Ray Samuels

Total paid for this is US$351.25 = Total with 4% paypal + Shipping (US$20)

Exchange rate when i paid for these is 1.67, so it's $586.5875.

Im looking for *SOLD* Singapore dollars as it's in pristine condition as i babied the amp under my care. I understand now it's retailing at $US350 just for the amp itself now, without the batteries, shipping + paypal fees. So Im just looking for best bang for my buck tongue.gif Interested PM me wink.gif

  5. Well the 'burning' smell is gone!

Vocals now sound very smooth IMO. I only have limited listening experience to amps, only the Original Master Amp and RSA hornet.

I really like this amp. Listening to music now is very enjoyable. Soundstage is definitely much wider than my 'Original' Master amp, really spacious, makes you feel very comfortable with the 'air' around the music you listen to. Bass is really punchy and plentiful without masking over the mids or highs, really low thumps can be heard and the effect can be felt on my HD650! Silky is how I would describe the sound, Stacey Kent sounds like she's singing live next to me... my ears like everything about it biggrin.gif Makes u wanna listen to all your CDs and MP3s again! I amazed how I enjoyed listening to all of them again party.gif

The only cons is the humming sound, when i slightly tap my desktop, i can heard a hum... haha... but when music is on the hum goes away.... so not a prob for me.

Do take note I only have limited exp listening to amps, im sure there are better amps out there, but to my ears everything just sounded very right and good to me, just shocking in my opinion, a very huge upgrade for me.. so your mileage may vary happy.gif

  6. I did own the UM2 for a period of time too. Like the consensus said, bass is really plenty and soundstage is wide. However the midrange sounds harsh to me, comparatively to shure E4c, which is much smoother. Yup for rock and bass-heavy songs UM2 is definitely the one party.gif Too bad I love vocals more, thus when I heard the E4c I sold my UM2!

I tried listening to the UM2 with an amp before, the midrange can be modded something to my liking, but IMO e4 handled it better.

Things i missed is the wide soundstage comparatively to the shure e4c and etys 6i (2 IEMS i heard b4), the bass is tight and punchy (can be a little too much for songs tt are tuned bass-heavy).

Actually as kank_39 said, it's BEST that you audition it with your ears smile.gif My source is an ipod which the EQ cant be customised yet, thus it didnt make the cut for me... I read lots of views on UM2 on forums, thought it was the ONE for me.. haha.. but my ears just didnt like them enuff... So hear it wif yr own ears and let it do the judgement happy.gif

  7. Ok, very very early impressions.

My source is a emu 0404, using Klotz SQ422 Starquad interconnects, Cans are AKG 271 and HD 650.

I have used the 'Original' Master amp (also from china) before and currently have a Hornet.

    Initial impressions:

Compared with Master and Hornet, Soundstage is very wide, very spacious. I felt that vocals might improve, will be smoother, after burn-in.

I love saxophone pieces on the LD3, very intoxicating! this is only 1 hour of use.

    Other thoughts:

There's always some smell (burning kind) coming fr the LD3, I hope it will subside after awhile...

The tubes are hot!!! really hot! At first i cant get any sound out blush.gif Den I switched the 2 big tubes (hot!) and music came...

When there's no music played... I can always hear a hum..... keep ringing in my ears... it's not my ears... i tried the Hornet and no such hum.. I guess it's the tubes?

Oh ya, when I accidently hit on the volume knob, it gives out a tingling sound...

    Conclusion:

I like wat im hearing now... will post more impressions if i have time... hey CNY coming soon, gtg celebrate wink.gif

    Cheers happy.gif

Oh pics... from another forum which i bought the LD3

  8. Hi Guys,

I have an emu 0404 soundcard and wish to connect directly to my amp, which has a mini jack (no RCA jacks), using the optical out of the emu. Can i just use a toslink cable, a toslink-to-mini, to connect directly so i can utilise the optical out instead of the analog? Many thanks.

I already connect the emu directly using the analog out to my amp, i wanna know whether it's optical to connect the optical out to my amp. Hope to hear yr views on this! smile.gif

  9. Hi tbln,

I tried all various tips possible with the UM2, including the westone and shure foamies, the long and short comply, the ety tri-flange, the modded ety bi-flange, the shure clear flex sleeves! The medium shure clear flex had the best seal/sound for me

I dont know if you can imagine the disappointment when in the end I felt my px200(i get a gd seal) sounded more warm and involving for me!

  10. hmm... I tried the UM2, bass is sufficient, just that the vocals are not smooth... can be piercing which irritates me! Whenever i put on my px200 (i can get a good seal with it) the vocals sound more smooth, some consider it dark(veiled) but its fine for me.

Since i like the bass on my UM2, the bass on the e4 is less than the UM2 rite? yes i wish to go unamped, so i just wanna hear how it sounds on my g5 ipod before deciding to buy the e4...

  11. Thanks guys for the advice, hmm... I really enjoy the vocals on my px200 and the bass... was wondering where I could audition the E4/c? Any kind soul willing to let me audition it?

Oh ya... if any kind soul offers, I can offer to treat the person a starbucks/coffeebean drink? smile.gif

  12. Im looking for a canalphone/IEM that sounds similar to my senns PX200. I have no problems getting a good seal, thus it sounds good to me, I love the vocals and the bass it offers, and I listen to it unamped.

So does any canalphone/IEM offer something similar? I tried the UM2 and vocals can sound harsh(piercing), not like px200 which sounds smooth and easier on the ear. Wondering if shure e4 will fit my needs. Looking forward to your suggestions

    Cheers smile.gif
