  1. Hi,

I'm looking to clear some items. No time for this hobby anymore..

Shure E500: Bought it when it first came out, slightly less than a year. In mint condition.. Comes with all original accessories. Retail is selling for around $600-700. Asking price: $500.

    SuperMacro V6 (SOLD)

    iRiver H120 (SOLD)

    Beyer DT880 (SOLD)

All prices are negotiable. Interested buyers, PM me if you need more details regarding any of the items. I will get back to you ASAP.

  2. woot, bro. Have to agree that the smV IV has a big soundstage but i still find the bass not tight enuff. I had to change from the opa627 to AD744 to compensate to my taste.lol But how long did u take for the bass to tightened up, cause mine had less than 50 hours through it. One more thing, i think the new amp has a more laid back feel compared to the SMVIII

Wah.. Ryoko Hirosue fan huh? I like her too!

Hmm.. even if I order now I think I gonna get it only after CNY...

  3. Can this Crescendo be used to connect from any MP3 player to a headphone amp (e.g LDM+)?

If not, how can I make use of this with a mp3 player? or it can only be used for a portable CD player with line out?

Hope you guys can help me (a newbie). Thank you so much.

This is an interconnect, used to connect mp3 players and amps.

    So basically..

    Headphone out => interconnect => LDM+ => earphones

    OR

    Line out => interconnect => LDM+ => earphones

  4. The thread seems to be inaccessible, so I did a search to see what it looks like. Indeed it's gorgeous.

    IPB Image

Wonder how much it'll cost to get it over here. The prices there are substantially higher than those quoted for the LDII+, LDM in the MO thread.

    Regards

    CK

It doesn't run on batteries right?

  5. I don't want to start a flame war again of the shop X vs shop Y. So please don't attribute any intentions to me.

I myself am not particularly happy of this forum posts being dominated by only one shop. But being a professional user of silicone impression materials for the last 20+ years, I must say that Stereo is generally correct in his statements. If you want to diy the impressions or have it done by a non-professional, it is your call.

Do note that taking impressions for hearing aids should be illegal for non-professionals. Taking impressions for headphones is probably not covered by this law, so I guess anyone is free to do anything to their ears. :P

Here is a tip for diyers. Put the impression immediately in a plastic ziplock bag, lock it and keep it cool (as in not hot, not fridge or freezer cold). Silicone impressions distort when they dry out but don't soak them in water either because they will absorb water and distort.

It is ok to keep impressions for a day or two before sending. Ear impressions don't even have 10 percent of the accuracy required in my application and I send my impressions to the lab usually the next day but sometimes up to 3 days later.

Actually all these precautions are just being kiasu because in the past, silicone wasn't so stable as they are today. But don't keep your impressions for a month before sending them in. That may be asking a bit too much. <_<

We need more of such productive contribution. :))

  6.

If you want the truth of the UM56 from Jaben, why will it have to come from Stereo Electronics? Why Westones did not address the issue themselves? Only Westone themselves is fit to address the issue.

Another question is : Are we bashing Stereo Electronics for this issue and what makes you think so? If so, who else was attacked too?

If you do not believe in a ONE-OFF produce by reputatable audio companies, it's fine with me. Do not name them fake or imitations.

Oh well.. the rest of your queries were answered by SE. I shall just quote these from your reply. Is there anything wrong with a Westone dealer pointing out 'so called' UM56 that wasn't? So Westone shld go every forum and browse through every post? Earlier on when SE posted about this issue, some were saying he shld have concrete evidence before making such allegations, asking him to check his facts and not who shld be the one making this statement.

If you bothered to read you'll notice the mention of business ethics. Anyway to sum it all up, the use of the word "imitation" was partly due to misunderstanding of the original custom tip review. Even till now I do not know whether the custom tips are from Westone or not but that isn't the point here, cos I am not in the position to fault either dealer.

If you are fine with your custom tips then so be it. If I bought an iPod thinking it was by Apple, but later turned out to be a similar looking MP3 player which wasn't by Apple, I'll be pissed off even if it's very much usable like an Apple iPod. Of course there are others who are perfectly fine with it, as long as it functions well. Even so, there's still a need to warn other members, members who are looking to buy UM56 by Westone and not other brands.

  7. No offence to Jaben here, but when Jaben was offering special promotions or special discounts for SGHP members everyone was simply raving about the low prices. I see most members claiming that they got a sweet deal from Jaben and very satisfied with it, and that happened when there were 2 dealers ard in this forum. Then is that a case of undercutting the other dealer?

When one dealer got banned the other dealer tried to provide us with the same low prices that consumers want. In addition he made a point about a supposedly UM56 which turned out otherwise. Instead of raving about it, his intent and business ethics was questioned. I see many people viewing all these negatively, which is rather bad for this hobby. I guess the only thing SE can do to please people is to raise his prices and keep everything to himself, even when consumers are unknowingly paying for something else.

Rather than trying to pinpoint on what this thread is all about, which is the UM56, and trying to get the truth from what or why this actually happened, most people are bashing SE instead. I see no one discussing about the so called UM56 and their source. It's easy for everyone to judge why this happened.

  8.

Interesting.. First time I see comments about bad business ethics for offering cost savings to consumer. I have nothing against Jaben, even now I still find Jaben prices competitive. I patronise both shops and I don't see anything wrong with either one having their own promotions. You go there and if you are happy with the service and price then a deal is done.

You can even think of it in another way if you want. Let's say SE was able to offer a lower price for the ES2 a long time ago but refrained from doing so cos he didn't want to undercut Jaben? It's up to you to judge. Do you really mean no one can sell the ES2 in this forum at a lower price than Jaben after Jaben got banned? Anyone caught doing so is considered unscroupulous?

When SE first mentioned about UM56 imitations everyone was confidently bashing him for being ignorant about the so called one-off custom tips. However ppl began to realise that those may not really be the UM56 by Westone from his email exchanges with Westone. Now he is being accused of not bothering to clarify matters before making that post, but the fact was that he did clarified with Westone before making that statement.

From a neutral point of view I feel SE shld be given credit for sharing with us what he knows and pointing this out. Instead he was being labeled as someone with bad business ethics and his intent questioned. I see everyone trying to put him down, rather than agree with what he's doing, and I really don't understand why. If you had unknowingly bought a so called fake iPod from China and someone pointed it out to you, would you say things like "I'm OK with it, it works exactly like the original" or would you be pissed off? I believe ppl will have different opinions about this, but at the end of the day, it's important to let consumers know what they are getting out of the deal. That is what I call business ethics.

I hope no one feels offended by this. In the event that SE made a mistake about the custom tips he owes everyone an apology. Meanwhile, give him credit for pointing that out too..

  9. All right then, both your points taken...Im not going to prolong this fiasco any further for I see no point because many people do not know what they are talking about, while others make implications for the rest to imagine.

I sincerely apologise if I offended anyone with my posts. I just wish more people would take the RED pill so they do not believe in just whatever they read/see/guess........

I understand your point questioning his intent, since he is an audio dealer too. Ppl here shld be able to judge themselves. Not to worry, I believe there'll be clarifications soon.

  10. Well, herein lies the point of this fiasco. How do you know the price that was charged for these"fake" moulds? How do you know its not a "custom" tip so customed that westone dosent make them? How do you know if it really was the cheapo spinoff everyone has been talking about? Even when you only "think" the consumer has to know what he's buying before deciding on his purchase", which I agree, but just shows that you are not very confident of what you are saying but just jumping in to post your reply here?

I am not trying to deride a dealer here who is making so much effort to inform the masses, just trying to point out that the amount of effort to prove himself right before his own sales could make people question his intent. And jumping to his defense could also make people question yours.

And besides its not like theres many other westone custom dealers around and it makes it sound like the other earmoulds outside are counterfeit and expensive before his own sales?

Well, SE got his replies about the imitations from Westone. You can see his email exchanges with Westone too. He only mentioned those in the pics are not UM56 but imitations and nothing else. You think he should just warn ppl of imitations but do nothing to prove himself, just because it could make ppl question his own intent? Or should he ask someone else to contact Westone instead, since his words carry no weight at all because he's a dealer?

I'm still skeptical of this fiasco of course. I don't believe it 100% either and I hope there can be clarifications rather than just bashings. You may think I'm jumping to his defense, but from a 3rd party point of view, I believe it's right to inform the masses, since the emails exchanges with Westone is enough to make a point. However, if he made a mistake about this, an apology should be due too.

  12. gosh. i'm going give up on the hassle of trying to contact them and asking if they'll warrant my shures.. thankfully i got myself a UM1 now

I believe Shure Singapore won't service the earphones bought overseas. I wanted to get my Shure E5c cables replaced and I was asked to send it to Hong Kong. Most probably their international service centre is based in HK. As for the rest I'm not too sure either..
