  1. I'm also looking for speakers and bottom of my list in terms of price level is the Infinity Primus 360 - lowest price I've seen in forum is S$590! It's a full range speaker with sensitivity of 93db. You can google for a Stereophile review.

Heard it driven by low power Sun SETs amp from low/mid end TT source - tomally well balanced and fluid midrange. The bass is ample but not taut & well defined, but this could be mainly due to the room accosutic & amp.

BTW, I was going to audition the Revel F12 till I called up the agent and was told it retails for $3K!

Supposed to be retailing for USD1.2K in the US, which works out to be about S$2K.

If you are going to spend 2-3K on a pair of floor standers, try audition the Vienna acoustic line of speakers. For the amount, you try the Mozart, Bach or the Hayden(bookself). I had the old Mozart (not the new Grand series). Generally I prefer the Vienna acoustic line of speakers with solid state amplifiers. BTW, what amp and cdp are you using?

  2. Guess if you are really on a budget, then go ahead with viix recommendations. If your speakers are not that heavy, you could try the Cerapuc for your rack. For your speakers you can go with spikes. I am using spikes for my speakers. Only for the rack, I use the Cerabase.

  3. just referring to the insignia speakers at best buy.

well good in ur own opinion not mine :) , then i'll check it out for myself . dat's the best i could do . Rather than testing out every pair of speakers in the market.

My opinion? I did not give any opinion.... Just asking you to be more specific in your post to help you that's all.

  4. I guess at the end of the day, we as consumers plays a part in the service we receive as well. If we want people to be polite to us, we should be polite to them as well. As for auditioning of equipment, I find it really helpful to give the vendor or the shop a call to make an appointment. This helps them to plan their time and devote more time to you. On ocassions, the shop maybe having some "big customer" coming for an audition. As the salesman, you would definately want to close the bigger deal. I am pretty sure, everyone would have the same piority.

    Ok then... :b2t

  5. I hardly lie so I just spoke the truth. That is just my personal opinion. At first I thought he would give me explainations like headphone/amp/tube/cdp not burned in or different preference and I would have gladly accepted that. But he totally rejected the idea that 303 + 313 can be better than his 404 + 006t.... I think some people are too sensitive about their equipment. To me I would treat opinions as ways to further enhance my system.

He also said I'm wasting his time when I used my CDr. I've been using that CDr for years ever since the first few SGH meet so that is my reference. Heard a lot of system using that disc so I'm pretty sure I heard what it should be in.

But still, he still didn't call me back regarding the order of my pads after a long time. I went back to remind him but seems to have no effect.

    Ok no more Kingsley OT.

Well John, maybe it was the way you talked to him, or you may have caught him on a bad day. Mackie and nakedtoes has good impressions of kingsley. As for the ordering of the ear pads I can't really comment. If were I you, I would have paid them 1st and ask them to order it for me. In that way it should be faster. Furthermore, I am pretty sure they do not keep stock of such things since not many people could afford the stax.

Sorry to go off-topic but this is where I was not totally sold into buying the top range from Sennheiser.. I mean you need to buy aftermarket cables that are priced nearly the same as their original ones to make them sound better.. , aren't they supposed to achieve better sound when they designed it or launch the product?

So, one more thing, I've heard alot of people say that the aftermarket cables make a huge difference, but is it worth that amount of price you are paying? I think you can get almost another used Senn HD650 for that price right? Please enlighten me, thanks!

It all depends on you. If you can hear the improvements and feel the improvement is worth the money. YMMV.
