I would be more interested in the speakers in question, now that a Burmester is in the scheme of things.Still using my Vienna Acoustc Mozart.
-
That amp does look like an overkill to drive headphones.....That's true, it's a overkill. It was on loaned for my speakers setup. But since it has a headphone out... why not?

Just got my hands on the Burmester 032 for a home trial, compliments of Music by Design. The objective of the home trial was to see if it has synergy with my speakers and cdp. Anyway the amp came with an headphone jack. So what the heck, took my favourite headphones out of the box and plug it in. Haven't touched my headphones for quite a while and have been trying to clear my invetory of cans.
Setup was the same as my previous except for the change in the amp. Impressions as follows: The HD600 with the 032 has a pretty neutral sound but slightly on the warm side along with a richness of tonalty. Nice extention on both end of the bandwidth. For the 1st time, the HD600 actually had some slam in the bottom end. Burmester amps are well known for its detiled sound, was not disappointed on that area at all. The details are there but not fatiguing at all.

For those of you with more audoiphile gear who think there no or very little difference try this:- after a month of listening to the much more expensive gear switch back to the cheeper gear. If you still feel the same way, thank your lucky stars, make an appointment with an ENT specialist ;-) and sell the high end gear.As for me I just listened to a $20,000 amp partnered with a pair of $17,000 speakers and told this to my self: If I spend a few more hours here I'm goona hate my home setup when I get home. So I left.
Seriously, if you cant hear the difference, go for the cheaper stuff and save you wallet major damage.
As for me I'm in audiophile purgatory, cant afford the really good stuff but can definately hear the huge difference.
Anyone care to donate 70k to a needy cause? LOL
70K may not be enough. At least 200K is required, if you want a new TT and monoblocks.

after some listening, i came to a conclusion grados and corda ha-1 doesnt go well with one another. its very bright, painfully bright. all the T'sss and S'ssss were killing my ears. its alot more detailed than digi01's diy amp, only problem now is the brightness. tinking of a power cable change for the corda to try to tone down the sharpness, you guys tink its feasible? my interconnects are pretty warm so i guess ill leave that alone. It could be your source. I have used the similar combination, the SR225 with the Corda HA1 and silver interconnects. It did not sound bright or sibilant.
-
Is there much different using a delicated hp amp and using say, integrated amp with hp out or yamaha receiver with hp out?Depending on the amp itself, I prefer the integrated Cary SLI80 to the my Corda HA1 mk1

erm...anyone?Can't you just give them a call at 63343981 and find out?

I have not seen any monoblocks for headphones. Further more, monoblocks requires a pre-amp to drive them. Sound produced by a tube amp is dependant on the tubes. However, the design plays a very important part as well.

What really makes a good basic CDP (w/o DAC/Int amp/SACD/EQ..etc) on a significant level as source?Gurus kindly advice.
Rgds,
Whatever that sound good to your ears and have good synergy with the rest of your components in your setup.

Thanks for the offer. I'm satisfied with the current stock tubes.

Havn't heard of them before. However, Music by Design will be bringing in a batch of these speakers pretty soon. Maybe you want to check with them.
