  1. Ya,you're right.. I bought it from discount headphones.com... it's a steal!!

Definitely much cheaper than what can get in Singapore. As a matter of interest, how much did they charge you for the shipping? Enjoy your new headphone, and above all, remember to take you time to get a good fit.

  2. As firefox said, making an amp is rather satisfying and some are quite easy to tackle. You could approach this in both directions if you like, but my initial remarks regarding getting a better phones first stands. For headphones you might want to get the Grados SR80, Koss KSC75 or PortaPro.

You can audition the SR80 at Music By Design. Do give them a call before going down though.

The Koss KSC75 or PortaPro are on sale at SLS. You might want to try Hung Brothers #03-83 Sim Lim Square. Their prices are on the high side but bargainable. You can also try various other shops in SLS.

  3. No, I have not tried the Westone UM2 but I am also looking to buy them at a later time, thus the interest. There is this guy selling the UM2 (new) over ebay for C$349, which works out to approx $460, without shipping charges.

The reason why I would probably get them instead of the Shure is because they are cheaper, the cables are more manageable than the Shures and their sound are somewhere between the E5 and the Ety 4p.

Not sure why the UM2 are selling for $690 in Toyko. You can get them almost anywhere over the internet for US$329 or S$540 easily.

  4. If you are using the headphones on the go, please take note of what Absolute0 said. ie they leak sound pretty bad (after all they are an open headphone) and the person sitting right next to you will be able to hear your music, especially rock! Because it is open, it also allows sound to come in and because of that, you will need to turn the volume up. For rock, the SR80 is a better choice over the SR60.

Others you might want to consider is the Koss PortaPro. Good for rock.

  5. A headamp would make a difference for sure. But whether the difference would be big depends on several factors, notably your phones and you. My take in this case would be for you to upgrade your phones first then maybe add an amp later. Most higher end phones would benefit most from amping, although this is the general rule and may not hold true for all cases.

Perhaps you could list down the genre of music you listen to? Whether you like a bassy kind of sound as in like your sound preference? Your budget if any? What birate are your music encoded?

  6. Believe it's new cause this place is also selling the Shure E3c at around the same price US$114.95 before shipping.
