  1. Has anyone finally compared the Pico to the iQube? For the Pico, is there a huge price dif between Jaben & direct from Justin?

The design team for iQube looks impressive but the Pico seems so much more versatile with the USB DAC. Makes a great travel companion with a good pair of IEM.

I waited 1 month for the pico and return it within 30days after comparing it with the i-qube, the amp section of the i-qube is simply more impressive in all aspect but if you need the DAC, then give it a skip and don't audition the i-qube. ;)

  2. it's 11mm, according to the specification.

Stereo, I am not sure about your piece, but it;s going pretty good here, if you have tried TC20 before, it beats the 20. I got my fellow singaporean friends to try it too, they are all happy with it..

I've ordered 3000 pieces for corporate gifts for my company last month and now as I'm referring to the T50 spec sheet provided by OVC China, it's 10mm, very common for manufacturers to create a different specification so as to sell better.

Durability is an issue but not an issue when it's free.

  3. Just gotten mine today from Stereo Electronics.

Thanks Aron for reserving one unit for me.

    Burning-in currently.

I can't stand the sharp highs of it for now.(Its normal for any new amp or headphones, much less a huge capacitor in the Ibasso D2)

I guess 500 hours are needed for it to settle down.

What equipment are you using the d2 with?

I'm using it with my office computer on the Grado RS1 and they didn't sounded bright at all.

  4. hmmm... ok... will try to make an appt to go down to stereo. I read that the i-qube is fantasic and blows away all competition... but it requires 4 AA batt to operate... sigh...

Just pop 4 Sanyo eneloop batteries and get a USB charger, you can charge it via computer USB.

Why you returning the pico? anything wrong with it?

I dun want the i-qube becos its too big an bulky. Want something smaller... I am currenty using the tomahawk

Don't worry, nothings wrong with the Pico, in fact I like the cosmetic and size of the Pico better than any portable amps out there but of cos you should audition the i-Qube first.

  5. If you aren't using the dac, why consider the pico or D2 since partial costs to build the amp comes from the DAC? A dedicated headamp would make more sense since you can get a better headamp at the same price with better SQ as there're lesser circuitry.

Try the I-QUBE ...... I had recommended a few friends to try it out. Most end up as their new toy... a medium damage toy.

The Pico is available in the non-DAC version which I have, it's very well built and small, in comparision to my Hornet, it made the hornet look like it was made in China.

Soundwise, the pico is definitely better than the Hornet in many area. Firstly, it's quieter and I can appreciate quiet classical passages better. Vocal tracks sounds detail and bass is tight and controlled, probably loses out to the hornet in speed and attack which I don't listen to most of the time.

Still I'm returning the Pico back to Justin tomorrow, did I mention I did a A/B with the i-qube? ;)

  6. dont forget the chioness of it xD ya now sold out and scared to make a wasteful trip trying to audi it , how does the soundstage fair?

Tested the P2 when I bought the i-qube two weeks ago and I must say although it's no where close to the i-qube in terms of smooth vocals, airy transparent presentation and tight controlled bass (yes, the i-qube is that good), P2 is still worth every penny it's asking.

Unless you are in a rush for a purchase before CNY, if not wait for the P2 before jumping into the visely. I've heard the Visely at Jaben and it didn't leave a deep impression on me, might be the cables used at Jaben, I dunno.

  7. what about for half of your budget but will sound very good?

Check Crossroad Mylar 1 X3 at Jaben at Adelphi... http://www.jaben.net/

This is my highend budget IEM... (I'm not kidding... and don't be fooled with the price...)

    David

Might as well get the OVC T20 (Mylar 1 X3), OEM company for crossroad and best thing is it's cheaper. Durability can be quite an issue, send mine to Jaben for exchange twice due to driver problem.

  8. UE triplefi10pro is a very good iem not only for vocal but IMO classical too.

Westone um2 might not suit your taste since it's slightly heavier on the bass, or maybe it could be just me.

Etymotic ER-4p/s and Shure E4c/g is excellent for vocal but for $500, I'll stretch for something better.
