That means the meet would last approximately 4 to 5 hours. So being punctual would be great since time is pretty short.
-
Ok, i just checked, one side of the function room is $80 per session excluding GST. Sessions are in 8 to 12, 1 to 5 and 6 to 11 time intervals. Since the meet is from 9 to 5, we'll be booking two slots. That will be $160. Opening up the other side would mean its gonna be $320. And, prior to booking, a $200 deposit for each side would be required thus if its 2 sides plus 2 sessions it will work out to be $320+$400 deposit. Each side can accomodate a maximum of up to 50 people. So both sides would mean 100 people. I've seen dinner functions, business conference and parties held there before and from past experience, the air conditioner there is cool, has both male and female toilets inside and tables as well as chairs would be provided. What I heard is that up to 50 tables can be provided per side.
However, on the 22nd of December, the morning and night slots are all taken up. That is, 8 to 12 and the 6 to 11 slots are all fully booked. So only the 1 to 5 pm slot will be available. So its 1 to 5, $80 + $200 deposit and GST EXCLUDED. So we have to do our own math.
Unless we can find a better place, I guess its the only place that I'am confident which can hold all of us and provide ample space for our equipments....Anyway, I guess we could probably drag the meet by stretching the timings a little longer....You know....1230 to 530 instead.

Not to mention seats/chairs since standing the whole period would be taxing for some of us more 'senior' guys!
Also, it might be nice to have a separate area for people to have their refreshments. This also enables people to chat in a separate area from the 'listening room'. Based on experience, noises from people talking can be distracting for those trying to listen to the equipment.
Ok basically, the the function room has a large middle divider that can be pulled away to make a larger room. However, if we book two rooms and have one as the listening room and the other as the refreshment chatting room, it would be fine. Both rooms are connected by a small passage way or u could exit the first room and then enter the second room.
I can't be providing refreshments unless we get a caterer. But if you guys don't mine, we can buy refreshments ourselves from the minimart next to the function room.
And for older guys who cannot stand long periods of standing you can kindly squat or sit on the floor.... just joking...I think there should be enough chairs for everyone....

I'll be doing some side by side listening soon and give a short and quick comparison between the ESW9's versus the ES7's. However, from memory, comfort wise, the ESW9's are quite a little better than the ES7's. ES7's clamp a little too hard on your head.
-
Ok, from what I see, if you guys want two function rooms as in we split the divider, its gonna be pretty big. Would hold up to a 100 people. Spacious. Toilets included. Price wise I can only give u guys a quote as the management office isn't open.

Thanks razer for the suggestion, in the mean time, I am trying to book the Cinnamon conference room (NUS public facility) and waiting for their confirmation. $120 (standard) for full day section (9am -5pm).
Please refer: https://aces01.nus.edu.sg/prjvpb/index.jsp
the critical requirement is electrical points/wall sockets, the more the better. Not necessary to be near MRT, YMMV.
Hmm, do let me know. Cause if all else fails, could just book a conference room for full day 9 to 5 at my place. Power Socket wise, I think they should have at least 8? Will go check it out. Its beside the pool so if you're tired of listening, you're welcomed to jump in with ur gear at one go... Anyway, where do you stay Ryner?
And judging by the looks of the Ginger Cove, it looks really small.....
-
Any requirements? Must be near MRT etc?
My house has a function room. We can book it for the day. But it'll be really wierd I guess...Lol...I'am staying at the Tanjong Rhu area. Nearest MRT is Kallang or Aljunid and only one feeder bus service that is 158....

As for coffee or teabreaks, I can't get that but there's a mini mart just outside of the function room, so you guys can probably pop over and get a drink or two...
Hehe, and it'll be easier for me to bring all my cans plus speakers....

Hmmm, Wierd thing is that I can also hear high frequencies very well. No problem. Did the ear test thinggie online and faired very high. Plus I'am still in my teens so that makes me young. Not yet married so I'am not an old man yet... But still, I don't know what to really look out for as in what differences that I'am hearing in cable changes...Like for example, a simple 1/8 to 1/8 interconnect for iPod to portable amp sounds pretty similar to me be it stock cheapo ones or higher end kinds...

couldn't resist the temptation when aron frm stereo let me tried the ibasso t2. Current set-up... ipod classic 80gb.. all in WAV... ibasso T2 .... ultimate link silver reference i & of course ATH-EWS9.
Still require some running in as my most of my equipment are new except my ipod. But definitely the LOD frm the ipod for the T2 is definitely much more cleaner & transparent... bass control much tighter.
I thought that cables are not that critical till i tried the silver ref i. WOW! Amazing diff. Aron ripped me off another $139 . No regrets yet. My cables are customize so that they could fit in my hard case. Something which i saw at stereo used by one of their staff.
Will post a photo of my case when my camera is available.
Hmmm, up till now, I'am still skeptical about great improvements of sound quality from cable changes given if the stock cable is of listenable quality. And I've also not heard much if not been able to hear the differences between really pricey cables that well...From the Zu Mobius to Zu Gede and cardas interconnects or Canere cables belden ones, the valhallas....Bless you that you've got good ears then....And bless your wallet too...

Hmm. Sting's version and Eva Cassidy's version is different..
They were famous for the song Hidamari no uta....Really nice song...

Might add in the yamamoto HA-02 amp to my stash and will bring the GS-1000's along as well. Also, there's a possibility that I might not come or maybe I'll be there for the afternoon. Cause I'll be going to taiwan on 22nd DEC.....

yeah, I kinda got it almost 2 weeks before the show.
-
In fact, they sound exactly like bookshelf speakers but built active so as to accomodate other uses.
-
Got mine already. The sound's pretty good. currently trying out different speaker placement positions to find the best possible sound. As I'am using them on my desktop, I'am using them nearfield. Will see which is better. The sound is brilliant. Feels like fresh and clean sparkling mountain water. Crystal clear dynamics is amazing and transparency beyond words can say...

YAY!!! WOOHOO! Just bought them. I auditioned a pair of Dynaudio speakers at the showroom just now which the shop keeper said sounded closest to the MC15's and the sound was simply breathtaking! Can't wait for collection next week. Will do an update on how they sound!

To anyone here,
I am fan of Japanese Rock or J-Rock and I am looking for certain hard-to-find J-Rocks CDs, particularly with the group X-Japan. I went to HMV building along Orchard about 3 months ago and tried to find any CDs pertaining to that group but was unable to find any.
I also requested a cousin who is based in Tokyo to find for me those CDs. He went to Shibuya since he told me that there are a lot of music shops there. All he was able to get for me was a 'Best of X' double CD collection. What I was told by my cousin is that the group stuff are hard to find and can be quite pricey. I am looking for X Japan - Perfect Best Collection, Ballads Collection, Dahlia and Sadistic Desire.
I don't mind paying some premium for this stuff. I am also requesting a friend who is going to the USA to find those stuffs for me. If there is anyone who can help me find a music shop or anyone offering those titles, I'd be grateful.
Thanks for having the time to read my reply.
Soundsync
You can CDjapan a try. I bought my X Japan stuff from there but don't know if they have stock anymore...

I noticed you own L3000. Could you please compare L3000, with UE9 if you decide to buy UE9.
Thanks
Haha, no problem! Anyway, this christmas seems busy. Speakers and headphones....Argh....There goes my wallet again!

Oh dear, I think I would have to buy them then....Any idea where I can get my hands on these fugly pair of phones?

Stupid question, just saw SE's sig....
-
Just curious, don't mind PMing me the pricing? Is is closer to the 2K price mark? Cause L3000 and HE60 are 2 seriously expensive cans and it would be amazing for someone to consider getting a GS-1000 or AKG K1000 rather than that...So i presume its dead expensive?

The behaviour is correct. Unlike things like iPods, PCDPs, the lineout levels of most sound cards are adjustable via the volume control. If you want to bypass all the Windows DirectX stuff, use a software like foobar with the kernal streaming plugin. This leaves only the "master" volume controllable.
Regards
CK
I'am using foobar and creative ASIO at the moment....

i might be completely wrong but I'll give it a shot. I think the mini output socket which you connect to the speakers is a line out.
so if you connect that to the lite with a mini-2RCA cable, that should be it. Not sure if it's a true line out though
That's what I'am doing right now but i can somehow control the loudness of the music from my computer still...
-
I'am currently using a creative X-FI sound card on my comp and have a Gilmore Lite amp with me. Is there anyway to select a line out for the sound card?
-
1.) Linn Sondek CD player
2.) MDR-R10
3.) AKG-K1000
4.) EAR 534 Power Amp

Btw, has anyone heard of K? He sang the theme song for the japanese drama Ichi Rittouru no Namida

I beg to differ. ES7 to me sounds pretty warm and is no way bright. The mid bass region sounds a little bloated as in a slight frequency hump at that region and bass is not as refined as that on the ESW9. ESW9's also have a more laid back midrange as compared to the ES7 and most importantly, insturment separation and imaging on the ES7 is a tad weaker than the ESW9. Overall, both headphones have a small soundstage with the ESW9's edging the ES7's out a little. But other than that, they don't sound vastly similar nor immensenly distinct. Its just a different sound but exhibiting the same warmth somehow with the ESW9 probably quite a bit wamer and lusher and more laid back as opposed to the more in your face presentation by the ES7.
