  1. Hmm, do let me know. Cause if all else fails, could just book a conference room for full day 9 to 5 at my place. Power Socket wise, I think they should have at least 8? Will go check it out. Its beside the pool so if you're tired of listening, you're welcomed to jump in with ur gear at one go... :D Anyway, where do you stay Ryner?

And judging by the looks of the Ginger Cove, it looks really small.....

I don't mind Tanjong Rhu area as it's nearer to my place  . Yes, I am also afraid that the conference room will be quite small though it said for 40 pax... hmm, razer YGPM.

  2. Thanks razer for the suggestion, in the mean time, I am trying to book the Cinnamon conference room (NUS public facility) and waiting for their confirmation. $120 (standard) for full day section (9am -5pm).

    Please refer: https://aces01.nus.edu.sg/prjvpb/index.jsp

Any requirements? Must be near MRT etc?

the critical requirement is electrical points/wall sockets, the more the better. Not necessary to be near MRT, YMMV.

  3. osocan, thanks for the write-up! FYI, you were listening to the bel canto dac3 which has the silky smooth sound, and not the TL51XR.

Although the meet-up was intended to compare the 2 MAD amps, they were soon neglected given such an array of top notch equipment.

Thank you for your kind words  it's not "top notch" but decent...

    Did warsurfer ends up buying W5000 & RS-1? :))

  4. I have a bad news regarding the venue. I was told that from 20th onwards SPGG all are fully booked due to festive season.

Now there's one option, Kent Ridge Guild House, but can only book by Packages due to festive season. If going for Full day package, the cheapest is Package C, which is $28 per person for minimum 20 persons, and two tea/coffee breaks will be included.

    Please refer:

    http://www.nuss.org.sg/web/viewarticle.aspx?id=516

In KRGH, there will be only 4 wall sockets so we will need power strips!!!

Are you ok with $28 per person with two tea/coffee breaks included? -_-

    More info here:

    http://www.rudistor.com/soundsystems/RPx33.htm

This is the amp recommended by Ultrasone to drive Edition 9s. It's a very magnificent amp in its own, it also drives AKG, Sennheiser, Beyer, Grado and Sony (markl used it with Sony R10) very nicely.

I paid 1300 euros for the amp, plus GST (S$123 cost) altogether paid around SOLD. Am looking to sell at SOLD or make me your best offer.

    Audition can be arranged.

Some photos, mint condition, no scratches etc..

    Some impressions:

"To put it in as few words as possible: The RudiStor RPX-33 mk2 is a phenomenal headphone amp. Paired with the Ultrasone Edition 9, it's extraordinary." Stereophile

"the RPX-33 achieves two seemingly contradictory goals-- it provides incredible resolution, cleanliness, precision and naturalness, but at the same time sounds deliciously meaty, full, vivacious, liquid, energetic, solid, powerful, and defined." SH Forum

My loss is your gain. Thanks for looking.

Yesterday I placed two HAL-O tube dampers on Yamamoto, and guess what, HD600/Equinox sounded even more open & transparent. Previously it was very sweet and a little veiled, now the veiled completely gone. I also suspect my Yamamoto still burning in and it sounds like it is. I have more than 500 hours on Yamamoto (2 months), it's really a keeper. I was listened to Edition 9 and Yamamoto, music sounds very euphonic and romantic, and the bass has a better "shape" than before.

The headphones I strongly recommend to try with Yamamoto: DT990 and K501, they have never sound so MUSICAL, refined and FULL to me.

  8. Jeffri, glad you like the Edition 9, I am still enjoying mine too :D

Edition 9 is one of the best current production dynamic headphones that the money can buy IMO (have not heard Denon D5000 or JVC DX1000). It's so dimensional with details, transparent with a touch of cream... Great dynamic, great details, interesting "soundstage", fast deep low end, from bass to midrange to highs, all sound perfect to me. I couldn't imagine anything clearer/cleaner or more tonally accurate than this.

  9. Just got one about two weeks ago and love it..

Got it a month ago and still loving it, it's really good with Jazz, and surprisingly very detailed :)) . But the tubes are getting very noisy at the moment, -_-

    wow i want that :D

but it needs a 100v mains... how?

mine is 230V and you can request for that

  11. How does the PS1 sound compared to the other grados?

It's time consuming to perform a serious A/B test, just roughly some impressions :

(Note: All headphones with their default bowl pads, bagel pads respectively, unless otherwise stated)

    PS1 vs GS1000

The PS1 does not have the "overemphasized bass" I initially thought after reading so many reviews/impressions over at head-fi. It's perfect controlled and very tight and real like the bass on GS1000. The bass on GS1000, was slightly loosen in comparison. I don't think they compete against each other at all, they each do different things well and they are the examples of two different presentations of the Grado sound signature. One thing of note, I find it very, very easy to discern the sonic characters of every cable, interconnects, and of course, cdps and amps with PS1 & GS1000.

    PS1 vs RS1

According to the seller, my PS1 was a 'new old stock" and still comes with warranty. So I took it as a 'new' set and some running in were required. Straight out of the box, the PS1 sounded like the well run-in RS1 and more refined without the piercing highs. The bass on PS1 also have a greater and better impact, unlike RS1. PS1 has a slightly bigger 'soundstage' than the RS1, with better depth but RS1 does imaging better (weird). PS1 has just nice decay which is not overly done like the RS1. Both are aggressive and sound more in your face, but the PS1 was something has better control aggressiveness for all kinds of musics I'd tried. After the comparison, the PS1 is really way overpriced. But I really lost in the angelic voice of Jeff Buckley when using the PS1, on the other hand, I love Robbie Williams with RS1, Furthermore, PS1 is less fun and RS1 is hell a lot of fun excitement involved. I find myself getting back to the PS1 more and more nowadays, for its purer, refined, and quality sound.

PS1 vs MSPro (reversed bowl pads)

Sorry, I have not been listening the MSPro for the past three months ever since GS1000 and RS1 have gotten all my love & attention. I did not like RS1 at first, but it grows on me like I never expected. I love MSPro at first sight, but it's not for longer relationship. Err..

The PS1 is great, smooth and effortless, no sibilance detected, but isn't too good of a p-to-p ratio (well, after living with it for sometime, I don't even feel the pain of forking out the $$, every time I listen to them, they put silly grin on me  ) I feel that the PS1 can be better, but not yet. I am afraid I may end up rebuild my setups JUST for them  So please take everything I said with a big grain of salt.

I am not a basshead and not even care about bass, but the bass on PS-1 is just sooooo nicccceeeee!

    Wow. How much dough? :D

    hehehehe, kekekeke, cough cough..

  12. With the PS1, you seem to have all the top line Grados, RS1 , MS Pro, GS1000 and now the PS1. All you need now is a HP1 and you will complete the grand slam of all grados!

I find that the GS1000 very boring at times, do you think I will like the more neutral HP1, HP2?

Anyway, more pictures for the PS1 :D
