  1. Actually, though this is a common trend, it is not entirely accurate.

Just look at Yotiao's inventory. It still shocks me on how long it actually is. :P

I edited my inventory anyway, so it doesn't look as long anymore...

I think buying her a ER6i is not bad idea, but it's way out of her budget, ;) Otherwise, a E888 or a KSC-75 or a PX100 not a bad choice too.

  2. I second Mackie, give your ear drums a rest. Long long ago, my friend always slept with his beloved earphones, and now he can no longer hear the treble region.

Hmmm... I never sleep with any cans or phones because I want to rest my ear drums. If I have to choose one, I will go for the ear plugs without music playing

  3. you misread my post, [Top-Gun], I meant the difference between:

Norah Jones extracted .WAV -> Gold CD.

    vs

Norah Jones 128 kbps mp3 -> Gold CD

I burned the WAVE umcompressed files into a CD rather than burned the mp3 songs. They sound different, really.

  4. I second scanfiend, it's all depend on your equipment whether they are revealing enough for you to hear the difference.

For me, I used to rip my CD into 192 kbps VBR using LAME into iPod, and line-out to a portable amp and the ER4s, I was satisfied for what I heard (fuller sound compared to other mp3 ripping program). But when I heard the same setting ripped mp3 using a squeezebox 3 as player and a home amp and the MSPro, it sounded so crap! Holes here and there, I could even hear the hissing without turning up the volume. I couldn't take it just for few minutes listening. Now, I re-ripped all the CDs into lossless (FLAC/ALAC), I am satifisfied and more or less not too far for better sound quality.

For portable usage, I would still suggest 192 kbps VBR using LAME, it's enough and you could not hear any difference on the go. But if you are using the mp3 as your main source, 320 kbps or lossless format is the way to go.

But u can always burned your mp3 songs to a CD. And the good thing is u have all your nice songs in a cd.

I burned the WAVE umcompressed files into a CD rather than burned the mp3 songs. They sound different, really. ;) IIRC, the pirated CDs were burned with low bitrate mp3.

  5. I had encountered a friendly service from Kingsley too, albeit ending up with only a stax cover from them.

Just last week visited them again to order the PS Audio GCHA, and deposited an amount for it as they do not keep stock for the headamp. I felt ok for their service, even though a guy mistakenly wrote me as 'Mr' instead of 'Miss'

Ok, enough for the Kingsley OT.

  6. FROM IDC:

    QALA Singapore

Our web site may not be accesible during that period. Please take note of it...

  7. the retail price is US$779, not sure about the exact retail price here in Singapore Dollar.

Audio Note @adelphi is the dealer, last time I went and checked they were waiting for the next shipment to come so I didn't get the chance to audition it. According to literature reviews, the black cube linear drives Senn HD650 very well, and it matches with AKG, Senn, and audio technica better. Anyway, if you are looking for a headamp, try the PS Audio GCHA also  It drives many kinds of cans well (high and low impedance, high and low sensitivity) except K1000! You can order it at Kingsley@adelphi (S$1,700 including gst after discount).

  10. Hmm, my belden 1694A was purchased from blue jeans cable, I am using it with my DAC, so far very happy with the results, very well-made and sturdy.

If u did a search, take a look at his last post.. please please use the search function or u could try PMing him too! From the link fongalv posted, he used the 1694a as a digital connection to his DAC.

    Here's some googling for you

    http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/digital-audio/index.htm

Their website always highly recommend the RCAP and Belden 1694A for digital applications..

eg Digital Coaxial if you are using DAC.
