  1. just checking, if shures sg will repair shures bought from earphonesolutions.com ? which is still under warranty.

I don't think the loclal service center will service the earphone free-of-charge for you since you bought it overseas. Probably they will have to charge a fee for shipment and handling. You will need to contact Shure directly by mail or phone and send it over to US. Take around 3-4 weeks to get it back.

  2. Everyone please stop spreading nonsense. ALL SHURE EARPHONES COME WITH A TWO YEAR INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY.

yes two solid two years. I bought a Shure E2C from Audio Performance in Sim Lim Square and it failed on me ( wire snapped) after a year plus of use. Just send it down to local service center with invoice and you will get the warranty service. Pretty fast and swift service. Takes only 1 week to service it and back with a brand new pair.

  3. is kinda hard for him to decide. Not all of the people here know what he wants....(best sound quality?). Personally I will not really go into any Mp3 players yet. It seems like the Mp3 market is still not stable yet. With the recent dispute and now comes the Zune from Microsoft. But anyway if i am supposed to buy now i will got for Iriver E10. Small, sweet and nice sound ( I like the Ubass EQ on it. It sounds even better than SRS)

  4. yea. I have seen those heat shriking rubber. I got myself some custom cables and saw the man actually use a industrial hair dryer to shrink the rubber. Then the man told me that his industrial hair dryer is hot enough to shrink it. Normal hair dryer is not able to do so. Wonder whether is it true or not.....

  5. I will go for the Shure E4g. NOt because I am an owner of an E4g but because I find that it suits me more after buying it and tested the SF5pro yesterday. THe SF5pro is really on-par with the E4g, but to put on a SF5pro is not an easy thing and the wires are very thin. The bass on SF5pro is good but somehow or rather I PERSONALLY think that it covered up part of the highs - too strong to my liking. But nevertheless, the bass really blew me off. Not to say that the E4g has no bass, it has bass that is tight and steady. Not really strong but acceptable level for me.

    E4g

    1. good build quality

    2. easier to put it on

    3. unobtrusive

    4. tighter bass?

    SF5pro

    1. superb bass ( some find it muddy )

    2. dual driver

    3. changable wires

    4. "memory wire" ( too hard for my liking )

Both comes with 2 years warranty. So it is really hard to decide. If you are a bass person, you won't like the E4g initially. But if you can get used to the new sound signature, then maybe you will like it.

  6. seriously speaking i cant forget how the sf5pro sounded like. It was perfect for me. But i really hated the design and comfort level was like sheeet! If only it looked like um1. Comfirm hoot.

Looks like im not the only one who does not appreciate the um2.

koljaho hehe what a small small world. =) the e4g will try again 6 months down the road. But i tried the e3c compared with aurvana, both was almost on par but shure edged out that bit.

BTW joiful, the cable can do sleeving meh? What do u mean by sleeving? enlighten me man.

I don't appreciate the UM2 as well. It sounds dull to me compared to the SF5pro and E4g. Maybe I am not used to the new sound signature after switching to E4g. Sleeving sounds cool! Is it to actually coat the wire with another layer of rubber?

  7. so joi_ful and tok2mi are friends. Haha!

HEhe.. ehh... love the UM-1. I tried the Um2 too.. Yes the sound quality improved over the um-1, but only marginally i felt. Probably it was my mp3 player as sony ones reproduce with a higher bass.

Funny thing was i wasnt blown away by how the UM-2 sounded. Im not sure why either. The improvement wasnt worth the increase in price in my opinion. So the weak bass of UM1 sort of got compromised with the bass sony delivers and wala, i have the um-1 now.

urgh. wished i felt the same way as you did. i like bass. and somehow um2 and um1 felt like worlds apart to me. and um1 sounded much too forward for my liking too.

throw in the nice low profile and comfort level (compared to the UE i had), and there i was sold on the um2 =/

Hey bro, im a bass lover. Im not used to the lack of bass from the ex-71 for the um1. But the um2 sounded not right at all. Maybe a few months down the road after using um1 a while i will like the um2. hehe...

Joiful i wasnt influenced at all. When i went down today, one factor was the my damaged earphones pissing me off. I was looking to spend actually. haha.. didnt mind getting the um2 as 450 is still okay and within my buying power. Just a pity i didnt like it. But i really kept thinking about the sf5pro ley.

    SF5pro is good. But

    Cons:

    1. It doesn't look good when u wear it

    2. wires are fragile

    3. hard to wear it on.

    Pros:

    1. Great sound reproduction

    2. Cheaper

    3. Changable wires.

REally hard to make a decision. SInce you are a bass lover you will really like Shure E4g. Alittle bass weak but it can produce very tight bass. I am not a UM2 supporter here. AFter hearing the UM2, I find it a litttle muddy. Maybe I didn't get a good seal or what. But somehow it just don't feel right to me. Thats just my opinion =). Still need you guys to enlighten me. Thanks.

You went? There was a guy using HD3. WAs that you?

Nope not me. but I think we went at the same time. I tested the Grado SR-60, portapros, some AKG models but found out at the end of the testing that headphones aren't my type of material. *edit* I forgot that you're talking abt the sony hd player. Holy! And i tot it was some high end senn cans which i've not heard of b4. :bash:

I just went there too. Was trying out the CK7 vs the UM1. Found that the UM1 fitting was not that difficult.

The CK7 was kind of heavy though. I also saw a guy testing out some earphones at a corner, and another chap having a pink Sony player, trying out the earphones with another friend of his :D

The chap with the red sony player was another member of this forum, i'm the friend of his. lol it's a small world.

You went with another friend right? There are 2 guys testing the CK7 and UM1 along side with us. So any of you bought anything?

HAHA! We went at the same time. There was a man. HE very on. CAme into the shop, tested abit and bought the UM1.

I think he bought the UM2. haha. He tested for like 5-10mins and steady liao. Pro!

You were trying out a grado?

  8. Armature driver has better highs and weaker bass unlike dynamic driver that is opposite of Armature driver. Wonder why there is no IEM with both dynamic and armature. Lol. But there are those IEMs with dual drivers - one for highs and 1 for lows.

  9. S$300????????????

    OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMG

Last time when I saw this type of price i also say "OMG! Crazy! Siao! Spend so much on a pathetic earphone! But don't know why after some time, I still spent that type of money for a pair of earphone. Guess is I get used to seeing all those expensive stuff and eventually you will bear to part with your money for all these stuff that are seem useless to you.
