Ok....This is what i want. Can I pass you the money personally? I hate using bank transfer.

Hi Stephen MKT370 film cap no more already, it has been replaced by mks2 which is $USD0.80 each which works out to be $USD2.40. BTW, take note all prices are in USD.

  2. Hi guys, think I'll close the interest check for now and move on to group buy. Here's how this goes

    1. Copy and paste the items that you want and reply in this thread or via PM. Please use the subject ' Y1 parts order: <Ur forum name>' if it's via PM.

    2. Costs for shipping, etc will be worked out and updated in this thread.

    3. Payment will be collected via bank transfers, cost of shipping will be split among the buyers evenly (should be around $USD6-7 each.)(POSB)

    4. Orders will than be placed once all payment has been collected.

    5. Any excess or lack in funds due to currency fluctuations during transaction will be collected or refunded accordingly during item collection .

BTW, AMB took out the cheaper Vishay mkt370 and replaced it with the more expensive mks2, thereby jacking up the price up to $29.10 for the whole set. MKS2 is cheaper locally

  3. thanks for understanding my question :P

so the rest of the component must source ourselves?

Yes sir :). Anyone needs to be spoon fed with the rest of the parts, I've got an excel file for the full config with with farnell and rscomp part numbers. Just PM me ur email address and I'll send it to you. But do take note that I'm taking no responsibility if there any mistakes though, better check thru before using alright?

this is all i need to build the y1 dac?

oops sorry, missed out this post. Nope, you'll need more than that. The rest of the parts list can be found at the link below

http://www.amb.org/audio/gamma1/ - click on parts list on the left

  4. Ok, gene83. Guys, I'll be ordering only parts avaiblable from AMB, the rest of the parts you will have to source from elsewhere. Here's what I ll be ordering from him. If you want to omit anything in the list and source it yourself, do tell me.

  5. Bro mouz,

Have you added me in? Are you ordering with the components also?

Yup its in, all updated in first post. BTW, if you guys spot anything missing or unnecessary, do let me know yah? Think I 'll close this interest check on Friday midnight and move on to a group buy. So far, the interested personnel is as per below. I'll email you guys the account number to transfer to once this IC is closed. Those who wanna pull out, do let me know alright? Cheers!

BTW, shipping will be direct from AMB via USPS. I checked via the vpost method, it's indeed cheaper but no insurance. With insurance, it works out to be about the same.

  6. Ok...I'm in...

K bro, will be moving on to a group buy soon. My eyes are really blur after going thru the BOM several times for a full config. BTW, if you guys are buying stuff from farnell, take note of R2U and R5U if you're using the BOM at amb.org, description is correct but part number's wrong. I've already updated Ti Kan about it, he said he'll update to the correct one soon.

  7. Hi Guys, just an update with pricing on the first post to help you guys make a better decision.

Y1 modular miniature DAC printed circuit board set and accessories (Includes 1 USB board, 1 DAC board, 5 ferrite beads and 1 SIP-9 pin header) x 1 $12

    Wolfson WM8501GED/V x 1 $2.50

    Total: $USD 28.05, appx. $SGD 45.00

  8. mouz,

how about using vpost? Base charge is abt S$13+ plus shipping fees by weight minimum S$4+. amb will ship to vpost address at less than US$10 so add up still slightly cheaper. IF..la...If you are shipping other stuff from USA, the combined costs may be cheaper.

I do online purchase from time to time and if the timing of this order coincide with my purchase, I may be able to help with the order and vpost shipment.

Thanks for the advise, I haven't tried vpost yet even though I have a account. Maybe this time round I ll give it a try.

  9. Tentatively, it's just USD12 for the PCB but I'm considering adding stuff not easily available from farnell and RS like PCM2707PJT and WM8501, need to look at the BOM again and let you guys know again. If just this 3, price will be USD21.30 without shipping. Depending on the weight of the shipping, cost varies, AMB uses USPS. If package stays below 1 pound, its USD23/pound for shipping.

Considering how volatile the currency rate is, cost will vary quite a bit too.

  10. If you can wait, I am sure some enterprising people will start selling kits, just like the Mini3 kit.

Heh heh, I think I know who, no doubt it's a bit more ex but you ll save on the trouble on gathering parts. They've already starting selling B24 PCB already, set will probably come next :)

Hi all, since there's been quite an interest on the above DAC, for the benefit of everyone including myself. There'll be an interest check on the above DAC. Anyone interested in getting one, please add your self to the list below.

I ll let this run for awhile(maybe 1-2 weeks), after I've got enough names (probably like 10), I'll proceed to check with AMB about shipping rates, costs and get back to you guys about setting up a group buy. Take note that this turning into a group buy might or might not materialise, so don't be too disappointed if it doesnt happen yah?

13/1/09: Group buy ends on Sunday night 18/1/09

28/1/09: Sorry guys, a bit busy due to CNY. Items have been ordered, probably will arrive in about 10 days if nothing screws up.

13/2/09: PCBs from AMB are in, now awaiting mouser parts

  12. mouz,

Why don't you put an IC and see how many people join? I found many of the items need to get from Digikey. I will share the items I bought from Farnell here.

I also have an extra transformer and RCA socket due to my over-order. Working on my y1 boards this holiday season. Hope to get them done by today.

    **UPDATE**

My y1 is working! It sounds very good. One of the best over-sampling DACs I have heard. As a rule, I prefer NOS DACs but this one doesn't sound harsh, even with the Mini3. Will listen to it with my SOHA and JISBO buffers tomorrow, got to go out soon.

Haha! Ok lah, I prob will start a new thread on this once I have time. It's probably gonna be an individual thread on both the PCB set and the parts from farnell. Let me sort out my stuff first yah?
