  1. small and nice.. will need this for my computer...too bad the opamp also SMD. how nice if it is a DIP type.. swappable.

    ahaha

    those aint op-amp

    those are regulators

    LDO type

anyway, for the cost. will update later

cant remember too many things in small brain of mine :rclxub:

  2. squalle,

i did the soldering in office :D

nice equipment we have here haha

nope, didnt bother abt PPAS :P

I am still in love with my PINT and its case :)

  3. is DIY solution a solution for u?

I'm in the process of ordering some PCB from UK

go to head-fi n search for "alien DAC"

it's using USB from your PC and the output would be analog line-out

please get back to me as I've missed out the 1st run of the board due to waiting too long

pricing wise, all stated in headfi

I'm just trying to help here, so naturally I'm not earning anything out of you and at the same time I'm not giving any guarantee in any form.

if you need a help in putting everything together, that can be discussed later on

  4. you can try checking with Stereo Electronics (woodlands) or Jaben (adelphi)

or maybe try Music By Design (adelphi)

For the first two shops I mentioned above, their contacts can be found in this forum as they're sponsors for the forum.

I can vouch that both are run by nice people :)

if you still cant get, get it from ttvj.

the owner is a nice guy, too

admin edited: they are not the sponsors of this forum.

  5. Hi,

I'm looking for this product or something similar... Anyone know where I can get one of this? Thanks

    www.cathayphoto.com.sg

or alternatively, for a lot cheaper price, get it from US, ship it over via vpost

I'm getting it myself and it's on its way to vpost

    get it from www.jr.com

  6.

Yeah hope someone knows, i'm thinking it should be able, but not to risk since i'm still a beginner in this field.

And if able to get that many sets, $280 is a tempting price.

Cause I feel like putting the speakers to use when playing PS2 or connect to a CDP to play music before sleep.

    sure can connect

either directly RCA pair to RCA pair, or just need adapter for mini jack to RCA pair

such connection shd be pretty straight forward. just 4 runs of wire

  7. then how are you going to charge it?

unless you're not talking abt Li-Ion batteries

Li-ion batts are not easy to charge.

bumping up the voltage is not easy as as to use caps only.

the result also arguably not very smooth DC

to integrate it into an amp circuit is the easiest prob among all

you can just solder some wires directly on the batt's pads. as simple as that

but doing that, you shd have on-board charger.

then again, like I've said Li-ion charger is not as simple as NiMH or any nickel based batts.

if you've got a lot free time and some money to spend, why not u experiment building one charger then teach me how to build one

    :)

another way, is to use ur handphone as a charger. but that's gonna be very troublesome as it involves another gadget

and the need of proper "socket".

the socket can be done. just that how much money are you willing to spend. heee heee

  8. Sorry to 'hijack' this thread but I'd like to ask how does one use the line out from the iPod?? Does the volume/SQ differ??

    which ipod?

for 5G and shuffle, improvement in SQ is minimal. for the rest of ipods (exception of 1G and 2G, cant take their line-out) the improvement is a lot.

if you wanna use line-out, you've gotta get an amp and carry it with you. line-out is not supposed to drive low impedance load (errm, yeah, even 600 ohm is low, not to say ur UM1 or any other IEMs)

and also, line-out gives you full swing of the volume, which I believe for ipod is 1V RMS.

hence you need the amp to drive ur IEMs or any other headphones and give you the volume control, too

footnote: I've never listened to ipod without amp anymore, unless my amp's batts gone kaput
