hmm
did u put in the ferrite?
100+ is high leh...
mine, both with and without anything plugged in (in my case it was UM2), the current draw stays at 46-47mA
ur 100+ is when song playing?
my measurements were done when nothing's playing, which IMO shd be the case to chk if the op-amps are oscillating
-
oh
good then
200mV is OK
the 200mV might be due to the op-amp at EMU side
or might be due to the AEgo active amplification module
can you please measure the EMU output? wat's the DC offset there
I expect some amount there as you're using 2227
-
try measure at the port to speakers
and report back again here
btw, congratz to have done it safely
-
katopunk, you not only need luck, but a proper set of tools
correct tooling will help you by a lot
have you got any rig to clamp the card
then, magnifying glass if necessary
iron with correct size
ADD: a good multimeter too
ADD: a good pair of tweezers, one size or a few when necessary
and also, how fast and how steady ur hands are?
normally, those cards are quite packed. you might be able to desolder the caps properly, but might destroy other parts of the card if you accidentally touch here n there
but then, who am I to teach you
just another noob
-
wat about, just mod it, then measure the DC
if let's say it puts out something very high (in terms of volt already, mV range dun need to bother)
then put some film caps to block DC. you dont need high capacitance as your active (i assume) AEgo2 should have rather high input impedance.

noob on DIY here, tempted to get one of these boards. BTW, what does "assembled" diamond buffer means?assembled means that the components for the discrete diamond buffer have been soldered and ready to be just plugged in
-
I've assembled 3 PINTs
No more hiss out of it anymore
#1. 3 brothers and sisters
#2. the top view of PINT
#3. the bottom view of PINT
using 3 AAs, the consumption is 47mA. the same be it with my UM2s plugged in, or without
the last time while it was hissing, the amp consumed more, i.e. 69mA when earphones plugged in. same 47mA when nothing's plugged in
9v batteries are a no-no for AD8397
unless u're happy with just a few hours run time
-
yup
ECC83 would have gain that's too high
anyway neutralzz, even without PCB SOHA would be easy enough.
anyway, now the SOHA acts as pre-amp for me
power amp is DIYed mosfet based, currently specced at only 20W/chan. with DC servo as I hate to keep tweaking against the rather bad drift
DC servo topology is out of signal path btw
and yea, i got the tannoy 605s
now it's more like hifi at home , headfi in office haha
-
finally I can post LOL
heady: yea I can pass you some from my side
maybe let Zephyron handle the exchange? LOL
anyway, one of the 2 PINTs I've assembled belongs to him. I dont think he would like to wait long as he's digging the PINT with his CK7
to quote him, he said the PINT helps CK7's lack in mid range
well, let's see how things turn out tmr
-
heady: no time yet
very very bz at work, and not very sure that my iron can handle the 1206 sizes
I'll see how.
but anyway, yea, all parts obtained. except the casing of course
have u started?
-
a good solution would be baxandall equalizer
go and take a look at headwize

hmm
i'm not complaining abt those not in stock
But, those things that are in stock, they're still late in delivering
and you know what, to my horror, the package was delivered, but to my neighbour
the lady next door passed it to me in the morning
how can a courrier pass a package to my neighbour? what was he/she thinking?
and no, my address is NOT wrong.
farnell is unreliable to say the least
maybe I shd just pay the extra difference and get everything from RS components
yea, I'll just do that the next time
I know I aint big customer, but that's just not the way doing business
-
I am yet to receive ANYTHING from stupid farnell
late for 3 days already
sigh...
small always get bullied
wat if payment late? hahaha
-
hahaha
u know, there's always singpost
-
ermm
4 sets everything? lol
for resistors can spare, but not for caps
I wont be at PS everyday LOL
only on these weekends
-
all have LOL
just that I forgot to type them out
12 pcs ferrite? so many?
you only need 3 for each board leh
PS == plaza singapura
-
I sure can spare LOL
as I've told you, the gain that I plan is 2.5. 150k and 330k
so you wanna use my values or follow amb's?
I've tried AD8397. it's b*tchy
but the sound's nice. very strong chip. by itself, the current output can rival that of BUF634
anyway, I've got the ferrite too, and also the 10pF multi-layer ceramic cap (NP0)
that one is to prevent oscillation, together with the ferrite
btw. i'm at west end LOL
I'll bring some parts to you tomorrow, meet me at PS. how abt that?
tangent's sent my boards and they're on their way to sg
-
GE 5963
and GE 5814
using the RCA clear top
-
are you sure u wanna buy those resistors on ur own order?
hmm, I was actually thinking that you would wanna share some off me? haha
coz min number of resistors are like 50
but if you insist, I'll post later
PS: some of the parts will only arrive tomorrow, where others will be in 3-4 working days
Farnell really screwed up
they cant even deliver today ... sigh.... I've got 1 item that I wanna assemble tonight, but stupid farnell screwed up my plan.....
oh yea, and their availability status is always screwed up.
-
parts ordered from farnell
will be delivered to my office btw
-
hmm
how do you get to ur 2.2 value?
it's 620k and 120k R arent they?
you've got 10! LOL
so many of them
is there really no other source of such alps pot but to get from him?
I've worked out the feedback R values to get a gain of 2.5
you might've read the spec sheet of AD8397, the minimum gain is stated as 2, hence the 2.5
then you ought to balance the R seen by the op-amps at the + and - input pins
well, they should be 140kR and 350kR, but farnell has no such values. so replace them with nearest values, 150k and 360k.
after re-calculation, they're still OK, i.e. around the intended design parameters (gain of 2.5 and equivalent resistance of 100k)
-
Ermm
one guy has requested me to assemble a PINT for him
so if you want, maybe we joint order then also abt the resistors, not necessary to follow the same values
e.g. dun you find the gain is rather large? especially when u're using a pair of somehow efficient CK7.
I'm thinking to drop it to 2.5 or 3
the diodes are not necessary unless you really want the on-board charging, which IMO, not really as robust as those stand alone charger.
so I'd suggest parts we get from local farnell, but get the PINT + vol pot from tangent
wat do u think?
let's see who else wanna join
-
nope
this time very late
like 9-10pm :'(
I would have breaks in between
afbug, not sure how to bring the DT880 ....
why dont we meet during weekdays? or unless there's some1 to help me carry my stuffs
zeph should know how heavy the things are and also how bulky
-
errm dunno
that u gotta try out
for Sunday since 1230pm till end of event I cant leave PS
the most in between I can talk to you guys, but no way I can leave

hmm
tell me, wat diode do u use?
