Greetings!
I'm selling this brand new 10" Sky blue mini v3 mini to mini interconnect. Reason for selling is that it's too short to pair with my setup.

I have a Sendstation Pocketdock, it doesnt let my iPod control the volume either. OMG looks like I got a dock with headphone out instead of line out
-
Greetings,
I bought a universal dock and planned to use the line out from the dock and pair with class ab amp. To my surprise, I still can control the volume from iPod itself. Is this normal? Ain't the line out bypass the preamp in iPod and the volume can only be controlled by headphone amp?
edited: title changed to line out instead of true line out.

Just curious, what setup (esp. source) are you guys using?5G iPod -> alac -> pocketdock line out -> pa2v2 -> HF-1/HD600
Couldn't hear the difference at all if compared to iPod headphone out
Maybe there is very minor improvement, but since it's not noticeable on my setup, don't think it is worth $100 for that tiny little step up.

Thanks Charis for your comments on HD650. Guess I will get them online instead of buy it retail. Save a lot I think. Have been reading some posts in head-fi praised about how amazing and accurate was the K701...
-
Used it for a few days. It gave only volume gain to HF-1 and HD600.

Oh thanks Futura!Hmmm....do you know if the EC7 is exactly the same as CM7, just that they have a loop to keep them from falling off?
No problem.
I have no experienced with EC7, but AFAIK EC7 driver is the same with CM7. Yes, the 'loop'? is there to hold the buds.
And erm...will wearing of EW9 get in the way of spectacles? The clip is very slim, my friend who wear specs tried on them and he has no problem to put them on. Maybe you should try it out yourself.

But imo, 701 ain't as good as the HD650 in terms of comfort. The K701 has a bass that's definitly better than the 501, but loses out in terms of quantity to the HD650. Its tight and just decent enough if you're not a basshead. The K701 is definitly more upfront and the mids are smooth as butter. However the overall sound is still towards the laidback side. Highs are well defined and there wasn't any piercing highs. Details are well taken care of as well. The soundstage and imaging is pretty good also. Notable major plus plus is its airy sound that matches the AD2000 pretty well.Of course, the HD650 is a great pair of cans so the 701 isn't one that replaces it. The best way is to hear the cans for yourself and decide what you like.
Oh, and before I forget, to me, the K701 isn't as comfortable as the HD650....The pads are simply way too hard....Guess I need to wear them more to soften them further.
Good points there. So the HD650 still stand out among the same price range phones...I hope I can audition these phones when I pay a visit to SLS few days later

Good bass department, no piercing highs, comfortable...humm. That sounds like a Beyer DT770 to me. Of all three, I find the 770s most confortable and most solidly built. 701s can sound a little bright in my opinion. Senns if you are a fan of senns. lol. But do go chk out the Beyers.Erm, should I wait for the new upcoming beyer cans instead?
-
Erm, I have previously owned both EW9 and CM7(not ti). Seriously they are very bright, and the midrange is very upfront. EW9 is a bit warmer than CM7, in the sense the bass is improved in EW9. But after all you are comparing cans with buds, so it is a little unfair to CM7 I think. Regardless they are very close in price range.
Tight bass, yes, tight but not deep, very thin sounding they have. If you are a basshead, think twice and look for something else. Sound quality wise, no doubt they are good and given me the hi end feeling, but I prefer KSC75 more.
edited: EW9 is very comfort to put on, no issue. Whereas the CM7 driver will stretch your ear canal if you have small ears lol. And yes, it will easily fall off if you walk around and listen with CM7, due to the cord length and the extension adapter is heavy, which keep pulling your buds downwards.

Greetings~
I want to get a new phones for X'mas So far I have shortlisted AKG K701 and HD650. But I never tried on these phones before, so I wish to listen some comments from you guys. By the way, below are my requirements:
1) Comfort is my major concern. After listened to HD600, I realized how painful it is to put the HF-1 on my head.
2) Enough with bright pair of phones. Please, no more piercing highs like grados...
3) Must be good in bass department.
I will have a DIY SOHA to pair with. Thus there shouldn't be a problem to drive either HD650 or K701. Or you have some better suggestions?
