  1. if i'm not wrong it costs at least around 300+ on its own (new)
  2. I agree that the dt880 +amp package $399 is one of the best value at the moment, and in fact it was so enticing that i bought it. I did like it alot over the hd595, especially when comparing their very close retail prices, the gap in sound quality between them was very noticeable to me, dt880 was crystal clear, hd595s sounded very muddy and grainy in comparison. Although i liked the hd600s more, it costs $450 on its own without an amp and it seemed to be much less worth it compared to the $399 package. However I sold the dt880s after a month as the treble was abit too much for me. I thought i could get used to it because it was only slightly too trebly, but in the end i couldnt. A problem which i did not experience with the hd600s, but i went with the dt880s because of the better deal. This turned out to cost me more in the end as i sold the dt880s for a slight loss, and bought a new pair of hd600s in the end since i couldnt find a pair of 2nd hand hd600s (i think they are super rare. you see hd650s for sale all the time but hd600, not even one in the past few months). Thus in the end its all about listening for yourself as much as possible, which thankfully is not that difficult here with great shops like stereo and jaben among others. And making sure as much as possible that you can live with your decision. That will save you more money in the long run.
  3. Sennheiser MX400 (for really cheap ones) cx300, ep630 for iems.
  4. agreed. i get ear ache from both physically wearing it, and fatigue from the sound. must be the superaural design and the pads pressing on my ears (even though i've stretched it).
  5. dt880 is much better than hd595, IF your amp can drive them decently. I find dt880's midrange to be abit too recessed for my taste tho. if not, hd595 is probably your best bet (get them used if you can, i think their retail price is abit too high to justify their price) Personally I would pick hd600 over all the above. (can be bought for 450). I listen to alot of jrock too. Since your amp is portable, just take it down to stereo or jaben to try out the headphones above (and more) to see which ones you like better. Its best to trust your own ears.

    Which amp?

i thought DV332s were well known for their synergy with the HD650s? the NAIM have even better synergy than them?
  7. i still get earaches from grados thats for sure. differs from ppl to ppl i guess not everyone is as sensitive to highs as i am.
  8. komekome club (米米クラブ) - the singer is awesome and their songs are awesome as well. fukuyama masaharu is good too. Aiko - one of the most consistent singers/musicians shiina ringo/tokyo jihen - best female rock/jazz singer/band imo.
  9. *points to avatar* and, iron maiden for eng metal.
  10. best is to listen for yourself at stereo or jaben and see what you like the most for the price.
  11. Svetlana 6S19P-V or 6S19P-B Mullard 8100 / EF95 anyone knows if these are sold locally?
  12. i was thinking of all possible tubes available locally for these? what are available?
  13. DV332 DV336i LD MK III LD MKIV For these 4 models, which ones have more options for tube availability locally? Seems like buying online is kinda expensive for tubes. also, where can i buy tubes in sg? i found out about well-audio-labs from searching this forum but their site seems to be broken; i cant see any page with an address. And any other places other than well-audio?
  14. if you listen to them at safe volumes, they're safer than using open headphones/earphones in public. I would assume they provide better isolation (block out outside sound better) than closed headphones generally and you would thus need to listen only at lower volumes to get the same level of audibility for your music = safer.
  15. Anyone with a pair of ad2000 they looking to let go, send me an sms at 96609144.
  16. actually i heard the near04 yesterday and i liked it more than the near08. near08 sounded too bass heavy to me with slighly recessed/thin mids and trebles. Maybe i didnt turn the volume up enough when listening to near08. But i will probably go for the aego m; was very impressed by its sound and soundstage when i heard it at simlim, and the subwoofer does help. near04 was a little (just a little) lacking in bass for many rock/metal songs i listen to. Thanks for all the help!

  18. heard the nEAR 08 today and wasnt impressed... how does the nEar 04 sound compared to the 08? (sound signature wise)
  19. pls delete this, thank you.
  20. How would you rate the bass performance? I listen to alot of rock so good bass is important to me. I dont need it to be booming or overwhelming, but clearly audible is good.
  21. Try the westone um2 at stereo or Jaben. You can also consider the RE1s which are alot cheaper http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/pictorial...est-iem-319619/ (i'm selling the RE1 btw)
  22. i heard the aego M has warmer sound and better bass, is that true? I plan to use Zero dac/amp to amp whatever speakers i get.
  23. an amp is definitely out of the question if u only have 120 bucks. if u cant raise ur budget um2/SA6 is out of the question too. RE1 maybe but still unlikely. I would still recommend iem, not a big fan of using headphones outside as to me even closed phones dont really offer enough isolation for buses and trains. I think you should try to get a used pair of phones or iems to get the most bang for your buck at that price, if you dont mind 2nd hand iem or headphone and dont mind taking abit more time to hunt for an offer.
