  1. Hi all,

Haven't been around for awhile. First job, first weeks, man i miss school life. tongue.gif

Want to ask, are there any PDAphiles here? What's the coolest / bestest thing in the market now? As in, if you had a choice and budget isn't a problem, which would you get?

    Appreciate any inputs on this.

(And no, this is not for myself. The company's thinking of buying one for the CEO to use.)

(Though i hope to get to play with it first. holiday.gif )

  2. Still willing to mail it to you to try if you like. smile.gif

But i'm thinking Mat wants to keep it as a permanent accessory more than just for the mega-bass equalisation features. After all, a CD player without a display is a little dampening. And the buttons on the remote are more comfortable to use than the ones on the unit itself.

Mackie, your idea works. =) But not with my player anymore, unfortunately. I find that it tends to lose its "memory" after awhile (power outtage required, yes). Didn't have this problem in its wonder years though. Maybe it's cos i was using rechargeables and there was always that amount of power left to save the bass boost setting.

  3. Here ya go.. good news and bad news. It's mighty expensive!

  4. I think it's cos he loves his bamboo pipe. tongue.gif and drums of course. I read in an article somewhere that around the time of his Live in America concert, either before or after, he retreated to the mountains and sat cross-legged, beating his drums while staring at nature.

Apparently he didn't stop when his hands started bleeding. He just bandaged them and continued playing.

I mean, i love his music but whoa..

Has anyone seen him in concert? Closes his eyes half the time and swivels his long hair around. ;-)

And who says he doesn't like synthesized sounds? His concert in 1995 (the only one i've been to) he was playing this weird sound-effect-making-machine for 40 mins! Was quite a pain, actually. Started off his second half after the intermission doodling with his very electronic sounds.

  5. Hey, no problem. I've spent years smiling like an idiot in the streets / on the bus while listening to that discman. Many wonderful memories with it. And hey, if there's no reply or if no one knows how to get a replacement in the near future, i could always mail you mine for you to try it for awhile. No trouble. smile.gif

  6. Part number for the D-777 remote is RM-DM20L. Hope it's useful.

Experience with the remote: "bass boost" setting 1 (low) seems to improve the overall quality, including the highs. =) Listening tastes matter, of course.

And although this is cumbersome, what i remember doing previously (i rarely use the 777 anymore) is to set the bass boost to 1, then unplug the remote and connect earphones directly to the pcdp jack. Going through the remote unfortunately reduces the sound quality by quite a bit. Thank goodness they've ameliorated this characteristic with their newer remote designs.

Have fun with your new toy!

  7. Order of the Phoenix.

Think i prefer Goblet of Fire (book 4)..

I like the way Order started out but to me the storyline just fizzled along the way. A little draggy, not much excitement to look forward to, revelations are slightly predictable, and Harry's turning out to be one angsty, angry dude. (maybe he's just growing up.)

Fred and George are way cool though. =)

Yes, i'm a potter fan. OT, but any star wars fans here? =)

  8. btw, any of you are a fan of peter cetere? love his songs.. but can't find the cd.. perhaps someone might wanna sell his?

    Can't sell, i'm afraid. My preciousssss.. yes.gif

But i'll bring a disc or two along for the meet! Guess you would also enjoy David Foster's music? Collin Raye? Jim Brickman?

  9. Hihi! cool.gif

Sure, I can pick some of you up, no problem! Just remember though that i'll be bringing a car, not a bus! Not sure if i can fit all of you in in one go, but multiple trips shouldn't be a problem if the routes are not too outrageous.

I stay in the north. Where are we meeting and is the date confirmed? I should be away in Bintan from 17 - 20 June, returning mid-day Friday. Only too glad to swim over for headphone meet preparations and to ferry equipment, heheh.

I'm not sure that i'm savvy enough to post impressions, this being my first setup et al. But i'll go look for a more relevant thread and give it a go. laugh.gif
