  1. If you are looking for a DAP with zero hiss, I would recommend the PSP. I know it isn't a DAP that most audiophiles would consider, but even at max volume there is zero hissing. My friend's Muvo2 has a damn horrible and obvious hiss everytime, when scrolling through songs, playing songs, when songs are stopped etc. Well if Motorola phones are supposed to be good mp3 players, maybe I should go fix my E398. I bricked it when trying to flash it to a ROKR E1 But yeah, it sucks if Walkman phones perform like that. Like that guy said, it's called a Walkman phone for a reason, people expect it to live up to the once-legendary Walkman name.
  2. Wow recover from fever so fast... Today is my second day of AttC, tomorrow night must go back. My fever today increased! 39.4. Nearing brain cell lysis liao. Think after this my IQ will drop by 50+ :/ Went to see GP just now, gave me antibiotics and said if tomorrow still unwell go back and he will give me more MC. If I do get the MC what do I do? Have to inform PC right?
  3. Wow ok guess I really good life. 40 degrees fever really serious man, suay you never get to go home. Maybe my MO was generous :/ What company you from? Sometimes I think my Pegasus company is a white horse company. I think it's really damn slack. Just now when I told my friend who ORDed that we didn't have to polish our shoes, he went ape. Is it really a requirement to polish shoes? Coz my Sergeant said "Whether you want to polish your shoe or not it's up to you."
  4. No lah not Chao keng. I got seriously high fever, 38.6 degrees celsius and really felt super sick. I think BMT supposed to be fun, but I'm in PTP now so it kinda sucks. Just physical training and marching all day long. Will really get sick of it. I really like those Sergeants. It sounds gay lah, but then again I think everyone likes a Sergeant who takes care of you instead of heaping verbal and physical abuse all day long. Btw I wonder what yotiao looks like? Haha just curious how a girl audiophile looks like.
  5. Hey guys... Got enlisted on the 9th. So far spent about 5 days in camp already, now I'm at home with a 3 day AttC. 5 days in camp feels like 5 years man... When back in Singapore it feels kinda weird. My company is Pegasus company. At first we all thought it's kinda slack, since Ninja and Mohawk are our neighbours, and their first day of training we heard them continously kanna tekkan by Sergeants already. So far we haven't really kanna tekkan. Of course we get all the verbal abuses, but not very often. I got two favourite Sergeants, one Sikh and one guy from China. Both quite slack and damn friendly. Hoping to go to DSO Labs or some clerical work when I POP. Atec would be fine too. So how did the Lucky Draw went? I heard yotiao was there too, so what's she like?
  6. They say you learn something new everyday. So guys, maybe next time try wearing cans the "wrong" way. You might just discover a new music experience
  7. He mentioned that it's going for $200 I think... As for comparison to PINT... I'm not sure. To me the PPAv2 is the best DIY amp anyway
  8. Hey theory, still haven't gotten an amp? I went to Jaben just now, and Wilson has a Total Airhead available. You might want to consider that
  9. Ok, I'm not sure which forum this topic belongs to, so I will just post it here. Firstly, I remember reading before that the left ear is better at hearing sounds of a certain frequency, and the other ear is good at hearing sounds of another frequency. Which particular freqeuencies, I'm not sure That leads me to conclude why earphones are marked as left and right: not only is it for the soundstage, but the music piped through each side is tuned for the frequency that each ear is good at hearing. So one night, I was fumbling around with my EP-630s in the dark, and being unable to see the left-right markings on them I just put them on. I then realized that the music that I was hearing was remarkably clear: sounds which I have never heard were now audible. In short, the "Day and Night" difference people often talk about when buying new cans. Afterwards under enough light I noticed that I was wearing the right side in my left ear and vice versa. This led me to wonder if somehow, my ears are different from that of a normal person. I repeated this experiment and actually found that certain sounds were bright on one ear and muted on the other. This goes for both ears. So... Is there anything wrong with my ears? Hope my post is understandable.
  10. Well, I checked Rockbox.org and Rockbox is supported on the Nano, so the Nano gets my vote.
  11. General opinion on iPods is that the Shuffle and 5th Gen (iPod with Video) rules the roost when it comes to sound quality. This is probably because the Shuffle and 5th (not sure about this one though) uses a Sigmatel chipset whereas the other iPods uses Portalplayer. Of course I find the idea of the Shuffle dumb (but that's my opinion), but hey, if you can do without a screen go ahead. Stereo Electronics only sells iRiver I think.
  12. That's true. Qouted from Wikipedia: There are three types of SACDs: * Hybrid: The most popular of the three types, hybrid discs include an audio CD "Red Book" layer compatible with Compact Disc players, dubbed the "CD layer," and a 4.7 GB SACD layer, dubbed the "HD layer." * Single layer: Physically a DVD-5 DVD, a single layer SACD includes a 4.7 GB SACD layer with no CD layer (i.e. one HD layer only). This type was often used by Sony Music Entertainment. * Dual layer: Physically a DVD-9 DVD, a dual layer SACD includes two SACD layers with no CD layer (i.e. two HD layers). This type is rarely used. But then listening to the CD layer won't give you any improvement in sound quality right? Yongchris... Yeah that will be a really big test for soundstages. Gonna try it with my friend's MS-1 since he said the soundstage sucks on that pair of cans.
  13. Thanks for the replies! I will check out these shops.

    SACDs

As stated in topic. Where can SACDs be found in Singapore?
  15. Wah I damn blur man. Better get some sleep! I feel like I'm on crack! BTW, I LOL'ed when I saw Head-Fi's GS-1000 smile. The damn thing looks like a bee on crack!
  16. Ok, I might be going again tomorrow with my friend's MuVo 2 and his PA2V2. Just be careful with bringing amps. Once the MRT security guard thought the PA2V2 which I borrowed from my friend was a bomb
  17. Sorry afbug it was my fault. I mentioned that I was getting cans because I'm getting enlisted so they gave me some helpful advice. Ok people, back on topic with Creative's trump card!
  18. Yup, just finished Diploma in Biotechnology from NP. Going to BMT school 2. Thanks for the advice, will keep in mind. I'm not planning to bring anything expensive anyway, and my cellphone is a cheapo 6510. Hmm... I take it you finished your NS and now doing University? Anyway this is getting kinda off-topic liao. Hope to hear your experience with the Aurvana after Saturday Zephyron! Have a nice curve to go along with it like your CK32 too
  19. wa... everytime stress get a new can... Haha no, because enlistment is only like one week away. It's the next stage of life, so I was thinking of getting new cans to usher in a new chapter. Planned to get UM1 from Wilson, but got one stupid MC nearby. Grrrr. Can't hear anything!
  20. Woops Zephyron bad mistake. I confused you and afbug. Hahaha. Incidentally, I getting enlisted soon, so damn stressed. Wanted to buy a new pair of cans to reduce stress. Haha!
  21. I didn't know that. Ok, disregard my review. Also I will like to add that I was auditioning the Aurvana using rock songs, if that makes a difference. Specifically, Taking Back Sunday's "My Blue Heaven" and Weezer's "O Girlfriend". Zephyron, tell your brother about the Acer 5672. Really good deal for gaming
