-
I've placed order with Stereo already! Can't wait for them to arrive arGH!!!!
-
why not hop down stereo to find out urself

Here are the pics of the panels. Sorry for the dust particles - very hard to remove them with airblasts, didn't want to wipe the panels yet.
The "burnt" marks at the edges of the countersunk can be wiped off, using ur fingernail n a tissue.
-
Hope you guys will like the panels after receiving from heady bro!
I had done 15 sets, so got 2 extra if anyone is still interested.
Btw the countersunk have cause the sides of the acrylic be quite fragile. Do be more careful when screwing in and out the panels.
-
polish means matt i suppose?
polished as in "coated"
-
Thanks for the offer heady. I 'll pm u if i need help.
Nicholas, thanks for checking that for us. I'll be sourcing around for coated acrylic and head down to ur place soon.
Rowell court should sell 2mm clear acrylic. ask them to "polish" the acrylic front n back..
-
just an update!
I tried etching on my "coated" acrylic, it was well! And due to the coating, burnt marks could be rubbed off!
-
Good news for you guys! Panels fits perfectly
Bad news for me, i think i fried my opamps.
Looks nice! you masked out the burnt marks with the led!
Fried!?? feel sorry for you
-
mouz got the sample panel from me already! hope he will post up the pics soon
-
Very nice...
Looking at that... Guys, how about if possible to use clear, and have paint or whatever done to other part except the wording so that when the switch is on, than the LED will lit the wording from inside. By doing so, no need to have hole for the LED.... like the mobile phone key pad.... will looks nice especially at night...lol.
Just some crazy idea.....
And for the scratch protection, the clear coat like for modelling or even the car paint is one of the idea... apart from that, we can easily apply a plastic protector... like some plastic protector for the mobile screen or the Ipod. Than this plastic will be easily replaced once it got a lot of scratch.
The downside of clear coat is just when it get scratch, you have to re-paint it. And also, it will looks glossy... I guess that what you guys want to avoid....
If everything works out well, I don't mind doing overseas orders if large quantities Payment via western union.
Sorry tonight I can't try on the coated acrylic for sample.. gotta rush for some other stuffs.
-
nice. now its a matter of scratch protection. I was thinking, perhaps we can coat it with some transparent layer. if i remember correctly, modelling enthusiast will apply a layer of clear coat over the model when their paint job is done. This layer serves to protect the paint. Now i wonder if a thick layer would help prevent scratches on the arcylic. Any ideas?
Corrosion shouldn't be a problem as these coating are applied on the plastic model.
oh ya! I had some coated acrylic when I bought from the rowell court shop sometime ago. Maybe I'll try laser etching on them tonight

Hi Nicholas, I'm the one who's been contacting you waiting for the grp buy for the casing at the moment. "Cutting the 2 panel with countersunk & holes will cost around $20/set. " Does this include material costs? How much for acrylic or gravoply?
Hi, yup price is set to be around $20 or abit more due to the countersunk which can be quite costly if need to be deep. Also it might possibly cause burn marks!
Can include the material if the number of orders are "more" as the materials come in big pieces.. <10-15 will be good.
If anyone here is good at vector drawing, kindly pm me if you can help design the panel with it's exact dimensions and holes placement. Else might have to get my artiste to do it which adds some bit of cost.
Many Thanks,
Nicholas

Thanks Nicholas. Of course with acrylic the problem is scratches.
How much will you charge for 2mm Gravoply and 2mm acrylic? I am sure the people here will be interested to know. Then they can decide.
Thanks again.
Have quoted the person who pm'ed me at hwz the amount. it's alot cheaper than what you guys are about to pay other companies
-
Hi Nicholas,
What is the thickest Gravoply you have. To do the countersink, need 2mm thicknness.
Thanks.
My is 2mm. It's not possible to laser countersunk on Gravoply.. while on acrylic can be done.

Hi Guys....
Pardon me if I don't know the situation of this panel, just sharing different thought of how to make casing of this mini3 looks nice....
and I'm thinking of if we cannot get the front and back pannel engraved as those one, how about if we just use the plastick pannel come with hammond, drilled it accordingly to the requirement without engrave, and to make it nice, just have a plate of alumnium (very thin one), engraved it with beautiful font... and place it on the top of the casing (black hammond will looks better).... I think this will makes more minimalist on the front panel and also decorate the top part of the hammond casing (which I like it). you can use those plate to tell "in", "out" which you can put it in the very end of the plate and line up vertically with the corresponding item...
Just thinking of an idea... actually I'm agreed on the pre-drilled panel since that's very difficult without proper tool.
actually if u all dun mind having an arcylic panel, there is a guy in hardwarezone forums who has a laser cutting machine. i dont think the design should be a problem. the only possible problem is the countersunk hole. is a counter a must?

Hi, I'm the one providing the laser etching service at hwz/vr-zone.
Someone actually pm'ed me about this project.. which led me dig out this thread
My machine is able laser on acrylic or gravoply as well.
If this kicks off well, we might even be able to do alot of customizing to ur personal panels! Your own logo.. nick... tattoo.. etc etc!~
Some Gravoply colours i have on hand is gold/black, blue/white, black/white, red/white.
Only thing, I cannot do countersunk on Gravoply...
Regards
Nicholas

There was one when I dropped by (Heeren) last week. But the price tag of $64 scared me off. I ended up buying one off one of those eBay shops for about SGD$35 with shipping. Still waiting for it to arrived though,
omg!! I saw it too today at Heeren HMV!! so exp!! could you share with me your source? I really wish to own one of it myself! PM'ed you!
Thanks!!

I've been enamoured with this for the last couple of months now.
A dream cast (and darn right it was) including the truly amazing Colm Wilkinson was assembled for this preformance in 1995.
Given the revolutionary backdrop of Les Mis, the recent spate of some rather unpopular government policies (and the various accompanying ridiculous justifications) probably, too, has something to do with my new found appreciation of this wonderful musical.
same here! I hope I can find their Tenth Anniversary Concert CD at HMV later!

FWUAHHHHHHHHHHHH.
another nice design but i still prefer the sparkling 1 lol.
lets hope my clear 1s r realli as clear as top-gun's icecubes lol
Qsilver: &)*!@#)!%#% i noe what u mean lol.
I felt black was a safer colour as it wouldn't turn yellowish or "cloudy" if I choosed the clear ones

the lubricant will help push the moulds further in
said by teddysaur when i met him last time IIRC.
My seems to be able to go in quite deep already. Maybe due to my oily ears
I would give it a few more days of testing before concluding it is a bad mold or not
But the seal is always on and off. Sometimes it's good, especially if I'm not moving about. Not good seal when I move about.
