Well, it didnt suit me out of Jojo's amp; much preferred it out of the Gryphon or better yet my 300B amp. More romantic and sweeter mid range... perhaps I'm getting old liao. Nonetheless, did listen to the HD800 out of the apache and preferred to the K1000/Apache combo But of course, I still prefer the K1000 out of my tube amp. It has the kind of "magic" that solid state cannot provide.

Well, I for one think that's the way... if you can. I would rather jump to the highest component I can afford so I wouldn't need to think about upgrades for a long time. I always think its futile to upgrade in tiny steps cos you'll end up spending more. Audio, if you are addicted to good sounding music, is a never ending journey, so its safe to say you won't drop the hobby anytime soon. Source is everything since whatever comes out of it is filtered downstream, just like the importance of the power supply.
