  10. From the earlier examples, perhaps its should be called "Dream Rigs that I Can't Afford.... for now"
  11. Maybe I can try it too. My earwax doesn't disintegrate on its own. Once in while need to used tweezer to dig it out and occasionally can pull out a "tube" of earwax! But the feeling while pulling is quite shiok and satisfying , shivers down my spine... something like the feeling you get while at the end of a piss but only about a fifth of that intensity
  12. Think what he means is that this thread is for "Home Rigs" and not "Home Rigs That You Dream of"; ie, this thread is getting corrupted!
  13. Most of the older ones have (717 & before) switches but, even so, not all can be switched. This is mostly the case for the ones that come from Japan, these have the 100V sticker on the back (see pic below). However, there are some of the US version amps with the 117V sticker that owners have problems trying to switch to 230V. But generally the units without stickers and with the (100V, 117V, 220V 240V) markings have been successfully switched. The reason why this is (as mentioned on Headfi) is that Stax had cut off some of the the power transformer wires for other voltages (other than 100V; in the case of those from Japan) so as to curb grey market exports out of Japan. However, they can be reconnected if you know what you're doing (some of the Headfi'ers have successfully done it). Then again there are units that have the sticker but can still be switched internally as Stax may not have cut the wires. These are usually those with no switches (2nd last pic) but it does have the universal voltage marking (100V, 117V, 220V 240V). But this is not a hard and fast rule. *Edit* : Usually if you get Stax amps from Europe, they generally can be universally used. Singapore one's are set to 240V already (last pic) Confused? With "fixed" 100V Sticker / no switch / no universal (100V-240V) voltage markings With "fixed" 100V Sticker / with switch / no universal voltage markings Without "fixed" voltage sticker / with switch & universal voltage markings (This one can be switched for use anywhere) With "fixed" 117V voltage sticker / without switch / with universal voltage markings Local Set with "fixed" 240V sticker / no universal voltage markings & switch
  14. Well that's what's this threads all about... maybe we should have named it "Show Off Your Home AND Dream Rigs"?
  15. FYI that Nagra has a headphone output and can act as a preamp as well so can save some money A worthwhile investment, no? BTW, you don't see many Nagra CDPs up for sale often on Audiogon lest to say Echoloft unlike Cary, Wadia, CEC, Esoteric, Emmlabs, etc. Burmester is also good. Their 061 CDP has digital in/out, balanced/unbalanced outputs, solid design, proven transport, DAMN CHIO (shiny shiny can use as mirror for adjusting headphone somemore). Their 001 is up from the 061 and has preamp functionality! Price? Cheap cheap la... 061 $12K, 001 $14K..... USD About same range as Nagra. So choice is yours, one is German, other is Swiss.
  16. I'm always for upgrading several notches in one leap so as to eliminate multi-staged upgrades which waste money and time. The best is to save until can upgrade substantially but of course it doesn't mean the most expensive is the best and as they have said over and over its about matching and how it sounds. But then again, it would still cost some to hear a substantial difference in quality, not forgetting it must look DAMN CHIO!!!
  17. Hehee, I think EVERYTHING else got distro right? Yes? No? Organize a audition party and we go chiong and audition until we listen to all (Jojo can bring his apache and HD800 along to maintain consistency ) or until we kenna banned!
  18. Oooo.. I'll take the Boulder then. Love the CD info screen
  19. Better not la, later you get so excited and wanna start plugging into her!
  20. If its any of these, I would gladly go audition with you
  21. Wah... nice bro. At least, you have a nice Dac now. Woot! Wah, you pictured my 2 favourite dream cdp leh.... Metronome & Burmester! Songz dah.
