  2. hahaha, tried the ES10... but not portable imo, the ES9 is not that portable already, doesnt isolate well, and the wooden cups make me REALLY hesitant to bring it out.

And yeah, ES10 outperforms the ES9 by quite abit, price being one of them!

portable=something I can dump in a bag without fearing it might break(HD25II excels in this department)

Get something sturdy and can be pack small. I thought the Koss PP or some in ear buds will be good. Of cos a sturdy case will be a plus

Don't have to worry about getting lost in army, if its damage or stolen also not so heart pain. You would probably be sleeping with music on your way to camp and sleeping with music from camp to home on the train or bus. A lot of practicality is required especially during army.

  3. Nice dragonboy! It'll be even nicer if you can post pic of your actual rig.

Do take note that Phonitor is super sensitive to power it feed so powercord, conditioner and etc is important. Indeed it matches the ED8 very well or should I say most cans as well.

For Ionclast, just follow the instruction on the manual. I use it mainly for my CD and cables. So far it works great in removing noise and improving definition.

Can't spell Wadia?:grin: From what I know, he's looking at something better than that.

You've to pay cash lah. Paying by credit card is asking for trouble. Everything is in black and white!

Isn't it very difficult to use the ionclast? does it really work?

I have such a huge amount of static here, that when wake up in the middle of the night with my t-shirt(drifit material) and i can create sparks of statics for like 10-15 seconds(not kidding), and i wonder how much of that are clinging onto my system.

  4. I could still remember asking Aron about the Astello for like 6 to 7 months before I left Singapore and to date I am away for about 1.5 years and its finally out. I was still asking him about it during my last trip back.

From the proto type quality, it really seems not bad.

  5. I share similar sentiments. I am someone who is leaning more towards the UE sound as well.

I have tried the westone, um3x, UE10TF and the shures, i have to say that the china customs really sound amazingly good, good control on bass with a nice balance mids and highs.

I like speakers, and if if i have to choose i would go for headphones as well, but this pair of customs is seriously tempting. Worth considering.

Would just like to add my 2 cents on these babies. Actually had the honour to try them on while I was at Stereo to audition the UM3X a few days back. Coincidentally, I manage to get a pretty good seal with Teng's triple driver custom.

Firstly, I must say that this customs, albeit from China, have exceptional built quality. The drivers are placed in a single, one piece mould (unlike that of the likes of freQs, which have separate inner and outer faceplates.). Its make resembles those of UE and Westones and are definitely much better than that of my freQShows.

After some time with the UM3X, I finally decided to put them on and I was relatively taken aback by what I heard. It reminded very much of the UE customs which I've heard from another audio shop. It definitely had the signature of a UE.

Highs were present and sparkled, though not as clean as the ACS T1 but they seem more present to me compared to the UM3X.

Mids were sweet, smooth and lush. I tried a track by Olivia Ong and it reminded closely of what I felt with the T1s, though not as forward and more laid back. Mesmerising in its own right.

There was definitely more quantity in the bass department. It extended low and hit hard as well, which I preferred for certain genres of my music as to the T1s. Comparing to the UM3X, it does not hit as hard but was definitely defined and had reasonably good extension.

I kept going between this customs, my ACS T1 and the UM3X and I must say that this impressed me quite a bit. If you are a fan of the UE signature, this will definitely be an awesome upgrade from your universals without the huge price gap and I'm pretty sure you will not regret.

Again, this is purely my opinion and thoughts and if you can and have the time, this customs are definitely worth trying.
