  1. thanks once again for the feedback guys! got advice from uncle wilson...i'll prob get the 4p.. apparantly there isn't much diff, and it isn't available in singapore anyway... as for the amp...i hope to learn more about it before i can make an informed desicion... still a noob in these areas...don't really know what an amp does except to add volume, bass or treble... and prob wun now how to use one well if i got it anyway.... yupyup... trying to save up for my 4p now.... thanks again for all your help guys! and thanks uncle wilson!
  2. that said....i'm now pondering over a few options... 1) Er-4p 2) er-4p with portable amp 3) er-4s with portable amp anyone could advise me on a good set-up? i know the er-4s is supposed to be more accurate but without bass boost, and it's hard to drive, so i'll definitely need an amp.. if so, what amp should i get... and i'd also like to know what good is an amp for the er-4p, if my player already can drive it?
  3. thanks..i've looked there...but the reviews from people who bought it from them seem so bad..i wonder if it's just that shop who has a problem... in any case..i must clarify that i try not to use the vpost@usa, rather i use the shop@usa... shop@usa allows me to return goods easily through comerxia, while under vpost i have to settle it myself...and paying for shipment back to usa is not cheap...i've tried it before... so to do that i gotta use one of the selected merchants by singpost/comerxia.... which isn't alot..and many don't carry the earphones... so most likely i'll buy them in sg instead....
  4. well oh well....i tried going through vpost usa...just to make it easier to return defective products...and found amazon was selling the er-4p at USD180... pretty good...until they added shipping and handling...to a grand total of SGD365!!! gives me savings of only slightly over 100 bucks now if i buy online...doesn't seem really worth it anymore...
  5. yupyup...that was me alright... i've kinda decided on the er-4p...addicted to the sound..totally breathtaking.... wanna help the local industry..but it's almost a $200 difference...and the army doesn't pay me much (sad lives of an NSF)...so it's quite hard to save..... on the other hand...overseas orders don't come with warranty and delivered products might have problems....wad to do....
  6. hihi..thanks for all your advice guys! went down to jaben today.. uncle wilson was really nice...let me try out all the different headphones (6i, um1, um2, e4c, er-4)..must say i was most impressed with the er-4p... 6i was very clear but still lacked bass to produce the needed balance.. um1s and um2s had too much bass (um2 esp), and was really not as clear as I would have hoped....e4c was the closest contender, but i was told it was very pricey..so it wasn't worth it... guess i'll prob get the er-4p...it costs more, but for the sound difference...definitely worth it... now for your honest opinions.....i know the er-4p can be bought for as low as USD160 (about SGD 256)...compared to almost 500 here... but the risk of getting damaged or inferior goods is there....what should I do?
  7. yupz...that's just a general idea of what i listen too... basically don't like the "louder" ranges of music like rock....so the bass part is less impt, i just require it to be there, and not absolutely missing like my current earphones... i do occasionally listen to pop, blues, soul, and some jazz require bass, but i figured i could just up the EQ...and some people have said the bass isn't really that bad on the etys, gotta try it out and see for myself.... how clear are the um1s compared to the etys?
  8. Hi... i'm new around here...and i just wanted to find out what would be a good choice for my first pair of IEMs. Budget: around $200 or below type of music: Classical, Jazz, occasional pop and rarely rock player: creative zen neeon Since i listen to mainly classical and jazz, I find details and clarity more impt than the strength of bass. I want to listen to an accurate reproduction of what was recorded on the cds/mp3s.. to be able to hear exactly what each instrument is playing... rather than the muddy unclarified sounds that lower end earphones produce... the original earphones that came with my neeon were disappointing..treble was too high, bass unheard, and basically many parts of my music were drowned out by traffic/trains/people coz the dynamic ranges of my music is so vast...i've already looked around and found the following: Shure e2c / e3c Ety er6 / 6i um1 super.fi 3 What I've seen from my research so far is that the shures should not be the ones for me.. many have said that they give strong bass but lack the clarity... so far i've been inclined to try out the etys..seems that everyone supports it for it's clarity and details... um1 is popular in singapore, and it's a close choice to the etys, so i'm wondering if anyone has had both and could tell me how they sound? i haven't heard much about the super.fi 3...so if anyone could tell me about that too? also, etymotics label the er6 to have more accurate reproduction then their 6i, while 6i is supposed to be made for portable audio players.. since i mostly listen to my neeon, which would be more suitable for my needs? should i sacrifice the accuracy? I know i should personally head down to try them out, but just want to get more second opinions before i do, at least i can narrow down my choices. Would help if you can give me pointers about how to go about testing the products at the shops. Thanks!
