  1. hi all,

Sorry for not following the postings as I was busy in Suzhou. I miss those good old days!!!

and I do recall most of us "pioneers"(hehe) trace our roots to head-fi where we had some threads like SG Hi-fi er.. and meeting in rameish's place(which I didn't attend coz overslept LOL)

Nice to see u back Oak :)!

add: ahh and who can forget the ever happy go lucky Mr Tee..

was my neighbour.. during that time we could spam the whole pages very quickly with nonsense posts hehe...

all the old peeps are gone now(Tee, Mackie, ablaze(?) , and so many others)

wish I could go back in time... :(

    Blues/(whatwasyouroldnick),

Thought you moved onto photography! Anyway, saw your work at fotologue, nice!!! I remembered Tee too! He brought me over to his hifi flat in Boon Lay, he's still with Temasek Holdings?

  2. It has been almost 5 years since I've first joined SG Headphones and looking at the Jaben saga and on dealer-sponsored forums issue, I kinda miss the good old days.

Here are some stuff that I can recall.

The website was first started by Adrian, aka ablaze, presumably on the 20th Jan 2003. I recall his rave then was his Sony CD3000 and EarMaxPro amp. He would purchase something and then realise he actually wanted something else.

Then, there are the helpful souls that are always willing to help out the noobs. Clarence, aka Mackie, Rameish and N@z, thanks for all the advices! Sadly, Mackie had chosen to leave the scene, I kinda miss talking to him.

The first gathering, AFAIK, was at AMK Ave 1, location sponsored by a kind soul whose nick I just can't recall. There were like 15 of us whom brought along CDPs, amps and headphones. That was fun!!!

The second gathering was organised by Ben and held at Singapore Poly's clubhouse (or something like that). More people joined in this time, with N@z and matbonn flying over from Brunei and naturally, more stuff to see and hear. It was fantastic, except for the fact that we ran short of power sockets!

I can't seem to recall the rest though. Everyone, please feel free to chip in and share your thoughts and memories.

P.S. I starting this thread as I'm really free and have nothing to do at hand.

  3. You guys are making me itch!!!

Looks like I have to go down to Mr Yang's office this weekend to take a look.

Oddly enough, on the Chinese little-dot forums its 900RMB(~$120) while on the English ones its $200 :)

I had a chat with him and it available at a promotional price of 890RMB.

  4. Actually, the current gen iPod video falls way short of the first iPod Shuffle for SQ IMO. I own both.

After comparing the video to the shuffle, you'll need EQ with the iPod video, and that sucks batt life away like... Something that's really good at sucking away batt life I guess. :(

One of the reason why 1st gen iPod Shuffle sounds good is the MP3 audio decoder from Sigmatel, while the rest uses PortalPlayer.

However, Apple did a turn-around for the current gen Shuffle and Nano, moving to Samsung instead. Tried it and didn't think that it sounds as good as the Sigmatel.

  5.

China customs are extremely picky on what goes in and out. Everything must be accounted for. This is the reason why 1/3 of the world products comes from there.

Generally they are quite efficient, just picky.

"Extremely" is definitely the right word to use! For custom clearance, make sure that the photo attached looks exactly the same as that in the crates, even the colour of the wires must be the same.

Know why they are picky? It's not hard to guess.

  6. i am sorry for the delay about this shipment of the goods. i have yet to recieve the new EMS number for the shipment. i did not expect the china custom to be so inefficient.

Wait till you try to ship things into China, that's even worse. Consider you guys lucky that it's only a week.

  7.

Congrats! $51 in your pocket liao. :DD Your LD2+ at 1/2 price excluding shipping! If only you placed a $50 bet.....hehehe FOC amp plus extras.

A bit funny, if My Yang really ship on Wed, by Sat will have the tracking? Maybe he ship on Thurs or China postal service isn't too efficent. BTW, which part of China he ship from?

    Yang is based in Shenzhen.
