  1. After finish this project, i have something to share. beware of this website www.daisy-laser.nl mad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

The content in it is useful BUT CONFUSING, some of the page stated need -22.5 and 2.5V .

    daisy-laer

after i read that one, seems easy, so make the PS in few hours time, but......

    then ..the other page stated:

    ____________________________________________________________________

    Step 2

The negative voltages are not so clear as they highly depend on the load and the way the supply is designed. These voltages have no influence on sound as they only take care of the light in the display.

Connect a resistor of 1Kohm between Vff and Vkk.

Connect a resistor of 10Kohm between Vff and ground.

Now you should find a reading of about 2.5V difference between Vff and Vkk.

    The polarity does not matter.

Between Vff and ground you should find a reading of about -22 V. Actually everything between -17 and -24 will do.

    ____________________________________________________________________

Oh my GOD, the requirement is not 2.5V, it's 2.5V more negative than -22.5, WTH mad.gifhammer.gifhammer.gifhammer.gif

Then, due to my laziness, i try to fix the problem with all kind of tricks, try to tap the gnd to the -22.5 and so on, but it doesn't work.

So i have no idea of which one to follow, so i spent 1 month to read the schematic and datasheet... then settle with a very simple circuit, i think much simpler and more effective than the one recomended by the daisy-laser...

    hi huangyong,

Did you try asking at the Digital section of diyaudio.com? There are a few experts at building CD Pro2. I've learnt my stuff from there.

  2. Well done, huangyong, it's always my dream to build a CD Pro2 CDP but I guess I only had time to fiddle with DACs instead. Would like to inspire you with a custom CDP casing for CD Pro2.

  3. I remembered it came with a 3 pole extension wire which you can use for conversion as well. I will check it out tonight and get back to you.

I made a comparision here previously, between the HP-MD33 and the Panasonic's HE50. The HP-MD33 really shines when you pair it with a 4-pole MD player.

    My 2 cents worth.

  4. hi idkfa,

Is this a new series or an update of the HP-MD33s? I've not seen Sharp updating this model for quite a while.

I've them for more than a year already when they were just released and the buds and package pictured above looked exactly like what I've got for last year. It's a 4-pole design, instead of the usual 3-pole and it's meant to mate well with their 4-pole design MD players, eg. MD DS-8.

I bought it at S$63 and I had Min Hwa from Bluetin to import it for me from Japan. So technically speaking, you can get it from Singapore.

If you would like to try out the sound, just give me a PM, I'm using it for my DS-8.

  5. Welcome back Northern!

Been listening extensively to the 150s and find that compared to the 880s, it demands your attention while listening, where as the 880 is very relaxed and slowly invites you into the music.

To me the 150 is much akin to sitting amongst the musicians while they perform whereas the 880s makes me feel like im sitting amongst the audience enjoying the music.

    wil,

You're right about the difference of DT150 and DT880. I loved listening to the details within the performers rather than as the audience, perhaps because I had been in a brass band for quite a while and my ears has been tuned to listen to my fellow performers.

  6. I had the DT880 and the DT150 but I gave up my DT880, not because it sounds bad, but I just like the DT150's honesty. Had them for more than a year and it has not tempted me to find a replacement.

Guys, it feels so good to be back here on SGheadphones after a year's break. party.gif

  7. I've just recieved my 1GB iPod Shuffle from Apple Centre Orchard and had a quick listen to it and I must say that it sounds pretty good (paired with Panny RPHJE50; encoded at 192kbps) compared to the portable audio players/earphones combo I normally use:

CD Player (Red Book Playback) :

    Sony D-NE10 with Panasonic RPHJE50/Sony EX70

    MD Players (encoded in LP2):

    Sharp MD-MT888 with Sony EX70

Sharp MD-DS8 with Sharp MD-33 (can't recall exact model #)

    Sharp MD-ST770 with Sony EX70

Mobile Phone (MP3 encoded at 128kbps):

    Mitsubishi M900 with supplied earphones

Arguably, it's not a fair apple-to-apple comparison (no pun intended), however, comparing the different portable sources, including the various audio formats, the iPod Shuffle did fair well and could possibly hold itself amongst them.

  8. Pre-Order Info

I have pre-ordered the 1GB Ipod Shuffle last weekend and the goods will be in by the end of the month, as claimed by the staff. BTW, if you do order from Apple Centre @ Orchard, you will get a free limited edition T-shirt.

  9. hi nakedtoes,

It really depends on how you intend to use your earbuds.

Sharp HP-MD33 has better clarity if used with Sharp's 4-poles MD players/recorders. However, for the usual 3-poles playback devices, Panasonic tends to have better clarity. As for bass, the Panasonic earbuds are tighter, deeper bass than the Sharp, irregardless of playback devices.

    Test Equipments:

    Sharp MD-DS8 (4-poles)

    Sony D-NE10 (3-poles)

    Sharp HP-MD33

    Panasonic RP-HJE50
