  1. heh heh heh, basshead, wait till you try a SF5EB with a portaphile....

the bass goes way deeper and is punches so much harder than the DTX50 :))

TS: for $200, the UE3, Mylar X3, shure E2 should be within your range. go try them out at any of the stores that the other members listed.

Mylar3 only available at jaben :))

  2. the bi-flanges fit me perfectly, and therefore i feel very comfortagle with them. the seal gives better bass and greater isolation for me.

not strange to hear that you like your KSC75 better than your aurvana, there is this dude in head-fi who said that he was so satisfied with his KSC75, he didnt go search for any other headphones or IEMs after that! :))

  3. good value i think, the aurvana is retailing at $180 or so i think?

    BUT

$80, is enough for a pair of Mylar3 and UE biflanges, which i believe top the aurvana.

to be honest, i thought the aurvana is WAY over priced, doesnt deliver the sound for its price, would rather go with a superfi 3, which is even cheaper.

but then again, if you like the aurvana's go ahead! we all listen differently and have different emphasis on what we want to listen to :))

  4. just go to jaben, or contact eugen3 on the forum about the Mylarones, for $40, you will be amazed, moreover with an amp, they really shine. of course your source must be good as well, no point amping 128KBPS songs IMO.

since there will literally be no difference except for you being able to blast them at volumes you never heard before.

  5. any iron maiden album is worth your money. maybe except for virtual XI, which is quite bad.

for their recent albums, eversince they have their 3 guitarist lineup, i would say they are great. brave new world, dance of death and a matter of life and death are all wonderful albums.tracks like the pilgrim, the reincartion of benjamin beerg and the longest day are simply awesome!

try HMV or gramophone, would be surprised if they do not have it.

  6. go down to jaben, and ask uncle wilson to help you dig for an ancient pair of audio technica pro6. really good, discovered it when i was digging around his shelves. its in your price range.

and to be honest, strong bass and clarity will compromise each other, for your budget, i havent found ANYTHING that has strong bass and good clarity for headphones. its always a compromise, strong bass, or good clarity. others may feel diffrently, its always your own ears to make the decision.

try IEMs as well. for outdoor use, headphones may be a tad bulky and uncomfortable.

note, the akg 81 has a REAL tight grip on your head, not a good idea if your ears are jutting out, they will clamp on your head like an engineer's vice. :rclxub:

  7. yeah, this hobbit is one basshead

but SERIOUSLY, if you want bang for buck, it comes down to the TC20(which is difficult to find i think) or the Mylarones.

if you are considering an amp, the price of the UM1 can get you a mylarone AND a crossroads 2. but the wisest thing that can be said, is to go down and listen, listen, and listen.

dont BUY based on our recommendations, LISTEN to our recommendations, THEN make your own decision and buy :))

that system works like a charm for me, and for alot of people, i would think. :))

  8. hmmm the NW E series has a very good headphone out. and to be honest, the only competitor i can see to the first gen shuffle in terms of headphone out. apparently the iaudio X5 is also comparable, however i have not heard of it, so i cant say anything.

hmm is it possible your bass EQ is tuned way up? everything gets abit muffled when that happens, when its tuned up to the highest setting, and using the DTX50, its amazing you can hear music, the only thing you can hear is a low rumble that seems on the verge of blowing everything around you apart :))

the bass is DEFINITELY there, the mids also so, the highs....erm..... <_< but i STILL tihnk it has one of the better headphone outs in the market right now.

  9. hold on a minute. you have amp, lineout dock and IC.

    it works this way

podie, attached the dock to the bottom of the podie, attached the interconnect to the lineout dock, and THEN attached it to the input of the amp, then headphone to the headphone out.

    so

    podie

    line out dock

    IC

    headphoneamp

    headphone

clarified? the dock turns the bottom jack of the ipod into a lineout, in which u attached the IC and amp to.

  10. i agree with aaron, i am still waiting to try a pair of V6s, but cant find a pair.

actually, i like sony products, after all, their flash based DAP's have one of the best unamped SQ in my opinion.

hmm you might wanna take a look at other brands and makes. for $159, you can try stuff like UM1 DTX50 and the Mylarones, do go and try them out, you might find something u like better :))
