  1. i mean, if you are starting about BOSS appreciation, you might want to list out how good they are with you? or your pleasant experinces with them? and what kind of headphones that they make that you like?

    or even their beautiful asthetics?

i think this will only become a flame war if all anyone does is criticise other brands or people.

to get the ball rolling, have you tried the boss triports? heard stuff about them, and would like to have a listen, any place that you know that allows for an audition? :))

    cheers and PEACE

  2. if $200, try the ES-7, and the SR80's

if you are planning to use for long times, perhaps the K81 isn't suitable for you, the tightness is worse than my FC-7, and it doesnt show signs of relenting its terrible grip with me.........

go check out the dealers section and find the address for stereo electronics. for other audio shops, you can try adelphi...... :))

  3. the K81(which i am currently using) clamps onto your head like a vice. even headbanging wont get them off :))

its quite bassy, but for their price range, i believe that they trounce almost all competition.

it all depends on your budget, the price difference between the K81 and SR80 is like 70 dollars, and the SR80 has a rather high impedence if i am not wrong.

it would be advisable or you to try all these headphones, maybe even come down to SG just to test? i am quite sure the drive/bus ride would be worth your time when you audition all these cans. moreover, the moment you get pass the causeway, causeway point shopping centre houses stereo electronics, where they allow testing :))

  4. hahaha i dont have rich parents.

in fact my mom thinks i am nuts to spend on stuff like these

'she still doesnt know i bought the LDM+ and am planning to get the ms-1'

obviously she doesnt finance me............i get all the money i spent on these by working and saving, and saving, and saving.

so not every kid out there who spends bucks on cans and amps are financed by their parents!

  5. kehyi, dont worry me too, we DO love to talk about our favourite and newset acquistions dont we?

yeah the central foam paddings improves treble, stabilises the bass, and makes it brighter in our opinion, yeah but my ears seem to be made in the same mould as kehyi, i found the k26p inferior to thek81's :))

  6. i once also had the same criteria as you, but ended up expanding my budget :))

i think the 2 main contenders around the $50 range would be the OVC T20(tried them yesterday, blew me totally away for their price) and the creative ep630.

i tried both, but i would go for the OVC if i were you

but as the wisemansays, try both on before making a decision

    ever considered headphones?

  7. no offence but somehow i find the k81 so boomy and bass heavy that it causes fatigue.

each to his own, i cant say its not boomy for you cause its not my ears

its all up to personal taste, therefore the need for auditioning :rclxms:

forums are just but a place for you to get a general idea of what you can get, and what you may like, but its the auditioning thatshould make your decision!!

MARCPHK, still think you should take a trip down to jaben or SE to try out the headphones listed here :))

  8. imo, the akg 81's eats the px100 for breakfast, the px200 for lunch, and the es-5 for dinner.

i tried all 4 of them, and the akg was the clear winner, not to mention the sturdy construction that all 3 others lack.bass-wise, there was hardly a fight as the akg was thumping hard and clean with clean tight punchy bass.

i listen mainly to rock and metal, so i am in fact a basshead, but for clarity wise, i have to admit the es-5 came out tops, however slightly so imo

btw will you be using it at home? or for your portable rig, cause this is posted in the home equipment section........

best to try them out yourself, but i would go for the akg's(note, slightly biased poster as he owns a pair of 81's :P )

why not head down to jaben network and try it out?

  9. if you are considering the price range to be around $100, suggest you go and audition the akg k81's

its around that price range, comfort wise, you would have to "burn in" the headband for awhile, at the start, it will CLAMP onto your head like a vice! :rclxub:

and the headphones really have a sturdy build, and the price to performance ration is quite high imo........ :))

  10. ard= around

hahaha i think my source is already one of the better ones for the flash memory(thats if you go by branding  ) so a sony player should be able to do it? sound quality wise, i cant really say how good it is, cause i rely on my ears and from what i can hear, it sounds almost the same as my friend's first gen shuffle. however that is MY ears, so i am not sure it can be validated :))

well for phones wise, i just got my akg 81's, so i am surely gonna use that, unless i pick up a thousand on the street or something!

humm looks like i need to do more research on amps, any here has ever tried a LDM with akg 81's? do they synergise well?

  11. And why you write j**** instead of Jaben?(Its not a banned word. hahaz)

its better to be safe than sorry, haha i just dont like quarrelling and flaming in the forums, keep the peace!

    :b2t

hahaha i went for the headphones first, now dunno whether to get an entry level amp(which i can get immediatly) or go for source upgrade(have to wait till chinese new year)

anyone to help concerning the output and such in a DAP player? B)

  12. after visitng j****, and talking to the shop owner, which kindly allowed me to test the crossroads amp and an Xtra amp, i have begun to realise the limited capabilities of my source.

therefore this question, is it advisable to get an amp, before upgrading my source? or the other way around first? after trying out the amps, found out that it made a slight, but noticable difference.

also other than the bit rate, any other factors that affect a player's sound quality? read some about output and such, but dont really understand!

so any pros can help me here? i am quite confused about the player thing, output power and such! :helpsmilie:

  13. depends on what MP3 player you using and your bit rate and all, many different factors. my small sony player used with AKG 81DJ's are great, paired up with a amp(crossroads, uncle wilson allowed me to test) it hardly made any difference, that he told me was because the source is too weak, so you might as well blow your budget on a better pair of earphones, rather than getting an entry-level amp to pair along, the difference wont be very noticeble.

when he told me that my source was too weak, my mind started drifting towards a better player

evolute, an amp, can cost from $53(LDM+ look at the MO in classifieds), to a couple hundred bucks for the higher end models. not a pro here, these are just basic stuff i know after lurking and reading for a long time

  14. as the wise man says, u have to burn the headphones, my fc-7 was so tight at the start, it was unbearable to wear for more than 30 mins, so what i did was stand a dictionary upright, and kipa the fc-7 around it, now it fits snugly with just the perfect amount of pressure needed to hold it there firmly

wear it more, thats what u should do, i also expect the akg 81dj's to CLAMP! will also have to give it the "dictionary" treatment!

  15. hmv prices are really killer, last time enquired about their Xjapan cd, all together the sum was :rclxub:
