  1. Ok. Received my Mullards yesterday evening. Burned in about 2 hours today. I don't have the vocabulary to describe the sound quality, but it is enough to say that the LD2++ has become my favourite amp and my music has become immensely more enjoyable. I can't imagine what it would sound like after prolonged use and, later, when they are paired with the Sovteks.
  2. I was looking for a pair of Mullard CV4015 M8161. Got it off ebay. The other tube is the Sovtek 6C19PI. This one I got off their website.
  3. Ok, nvm. I bought what I need off the internet.
  4. Besides Well Audio, Martin Electronics and Larry's Hifi, are there other places in Singapore that sell tubes for headphone amplifiers? Thank you!
  5. Sorry, I have to pull out of this MO. No._________Name_________ Quantity 1. Pegasus21 - 1 (Headphonehaven) 2. Scienfiend - 1 (Headphonehaven) 3. Ayeosq - 1 (Headphonehaven) 4. Xenocide - 1 (Sgheadphones) 5. nightbreed - 1 (Sgheadphones) 6. gin. - 1 (Sgheadphones)
  6. Heheh. My LD2++: My LD2++
  7. Collected mine. Thanks for the effort, clemo! I'm happy. But I'd be happier if I hadn't left my RCA-3.5mm cable in office. Now I can't hook up my DAP to it for a test run!
  8. I'll bite. No. Name Quantity 1. Xenocide 1 (Any option for black casing?) 2. nightbreed 1 (black casing would be nice, too.) 3.
  9. Well, that's that. Sent it back and got my money back. End of story.
  10. Some help please? I bought it so that I can play FLAC files. My M6 firmware version S1.009 has FLAC support and the player shipped with 2-3 FLAC files. I went home, deleted all the pre-loaded FLACs and MP3s, and then loaded my MP3s, about 200+. After transfer, I Safely Removed Hardware and the player didn't respond. At first I thought it hung, but now I know it was just processing the files and whatever. But then, at that time, I thought it hung, so I reset the player. Things went wrong from there on. I dowloaded the latest firmware, S1.010, and flashed the player. Transferred my MP3s and FLACs. PLayed a few MP3s, no problem. Played my FLAC...Lo and behold! the player hung. So, I reset, format, flash a few times with the same result. I went back to the shop, they tried playing my FLAC, and the player hung. Transferred my FLAC to their own player...it hung. And get this...they used their own FLAC (the ones pre-loaded and 1 other one from the internet) and it played with no problem on my player!!! I went home, tried my own FLAC and it hung!! What gives? I encoded using dBpowerAMP. I already have 2 DAPs without FLAC support (Zen Micro and Apple Shuffle), so I'm gonna be REAL angry if this M6 turns into just another MP3 player.
  11. Heheh. An RS-1 is "simple"? What I'm thinking of now is to use my Panasonic donno-what PCDP/Zen Micro/Shuffle 2G/laptop with Dr Head amp and Altec Lansing donno-what speakers/SR80/PX100/HTX7. I shall forgo the CDP, new speakers (had a brief listen to the nEar 04 and 05 today) and Cute Battery. All I need is a DAC to bypass my laptop's faulty sound card. Heheh. Just saved me a bunch of moola there. Then again, the DT880 I auditioned today was real nice... You right about the budget part, man. My bank account and me have not been on speakjng terms since I started earning $. My wife on the other hand is tolerant. Probably because she doesn't know the extent of the equipment I've got.
  12. Hi! Thanks for your reply! I went price-hunting at Adelphi earlier....sub $800 system is not possible.... Have to re-think.
  13. I'm thinking of getting a setup for my office. It's those offices with cubicles about 1.3m high, with a ceiling of about 3+m high. I'm looking for 1. CDP (if not, then source would be Zen Micro/Shuffle 2G/PCDP/Laptop) 2. Amp (most likely Firestone's Cute Battery - for headphones and/or Little Country for CDP) 3. Speakers (this one I have no idea what to get, but should be bookshelf) 4. Possibly a DAC (Fubar II....but is this necesary if I get a CDP? Hopefully, this will not cost me more than S$800. Thank you!
  14. I would like to seek clarification on this point: "Rather than let the sound card / chip do the D/A conversion, the digital signal will be routed to the external DAC." My laptop's soundcard is not working well (I spilt coffee on the keyboard) and after playing MP3s for about 10-15min at 65% volume, the SQ starts to degrade to the point where it's horrible to listen to. Since I won't change the card, can I bypass the soundcard altogether and let the DAC convert MP3s and CDs to my speakers? Is using USB (not USB2) possible? My idea is that I connect a DAC (FubarII also) to my laptop, then a headphone amp to the DAC, then my headphones or speakers. Can?
  15. This IS SO PRETTY! I'm a guy, but sorry for sounding like a bimbo, but the Tomahawk is aesthetically the most pleasing amp I've ever clapped eyes on. For US295, I'd buy it. From what I've read, it can also drive low impedence headphones. Hmm. I hope it'll drive my HTX7. Is 40 ohms considered low?
  16. Kenchi, Thanks for your recommendations! I was at SE today. Auditioned the 1. AKG26P, 2. AKG81DJ, and the 3. Panasonic RP-HTX7. Also, I plugged them all into the Xenos OHS-REP. I tried the 26P 1st, and was very pleased with it. It sounded better than my PX100, not by alot, but noticeably. I don't know how to describe in audiophile language. The draw back was that it didn't cover my ears properly, leaving gaps that allowed environmental sounds in. But I was still impressed by what I heard. Next I tried the 81DJ. Nope. Didn't like it. I preferred the 26P, in terms of SQ, aesthetics and build quality. 81DJ has too much plastic and looks...cheap. Lastly, I tried the HTX7. I felt the SQ was almost as nice as the 26P's, but since the speakers/drivers? were further away from my ear, the music sounded like it was further away. It covered my ears very nicely and shut out environmental sounds. Most comfy of the three. Aesthetically pleasing, too. I tried the black. On the 26P and HTX7, I picked up sound effects that I didn't catch on my PX100. So that was a pleasant surprise. On all models, I found that my ears couldn't really hear any difference whether or not the Xenos amp was used. Could be my ears not so good. So, no reason to switch from my Dr Amp. Anyway, I went and bought the HTX7. White. Heheh. With brushed aluminum Shuffle. And maybe an iCute Battery, blue faceplate. Nice. So, I shall start burn in process tomorrow and over the next 3-4 days.
  17. The 2G Shuffle is S$138, I think S$129 for UOB cardholders. There's this iCute which looks smaller. I think it's at Jaben. I'll go have a look (listen?) tomorrow. I don't like the look of the Supermini. Looks like my PA2V2. Heard of the Hornet, but not the Tomahawk. Did a Google, no luck. What's it look like?
  18. Hmm. Looks like you have the Hornet. May I know where you got it from and for how much? In terms of size, it looks more compatible with the 2G Shuffle. Oh, and what about interconnects? Or should I just pop down to Jaben and SE for an audition?
  19. I just got myself the new Shuffle. I'm thinking of getting a pair of closed cans for it, as well as an amp. And yes, it's true - I am a basshead. 1st question: Is there any point in getting closed cans and amp for it? Huge 'phones + large amp + tiny DAP = overkill. 2nd question: With a budget of $150, what's a good closed headphones to get. I've already got a Sennheiser PX100, but I still hear environmental sounds. And I don't like the feel of IEMs. The Grado SR60 I have is not for commuting. 3rd question: I got a Dr Amp and a PA2V2. Any reason to get better amps? I have this crazy idea of a Larocco or similar. 4th question: I've been to Jaben (more than a year ago), I've heard of Stereo Exchange. Is there a one-stop shop to audition 'phones and amps? Or should I not bother and just stick with PX100 + PA2V2? Oh, by the way, I suffer from CAS. (Compulsive Acquisition Syndrome) Thank you for reading. ...er...I also have the Creative Zen Micro. How about cans and amps for this?
