  1. No way man. $120. WTH. a 4 fold increase over what you paid. Actually i got quoted $20 last thursday. If only i had gone on saturday or yesterday like direcow. then it would be $20 or $30 only. Looks like I am gonna go ahead with aron's suggestion and head to digisound at novena square.

  2. 3 weeks of no earphone is nth compared to eternal bliss. Or compare that with the 4mnths that my fren nid to wait to get his customs from that other local retailer..

I used es2 cable with my superfi5pro when it was still a universal as well. All i can say is that it is so much better than the ue one. It may seem slim and filmsy, but the sound is fantastic and becos of its very light weight and flexible nature, no microphonics and u wont feel that yr superfi has any cables at all.

My pervious es2 cable use 2years le i think. No sign of untwirling.

So how would u compare the sound of the universal version and the custom version, both with es2 cables? I have a sf5pro that i m seriously considering remaking too.

Btw, so far has there been fitting issues with UM?

  3. It's a new es2 cable.. Perhaps that can be the cause?

The process took me about 3 weeks if I am not wrong.

The other day in the library I put on my customs and realize that even volume one on my iPod touch is abut too loud for me. Lol.

The ES2 cables changes the sound. At least for me. It makes it clearer. But mine is the universal version still.

  4. ACS don't do reshelling. and ACS is a custom earphone all the way, not reshell.

Yes, silicone is more comfortable then hard acrylic

I sort of remember reading somewhere that ACS will do reshelling of their IEMs for a certain fee should they not fit your ears anymore. Maybe I am wrong.

  5. my experience was a hell yeah bad one. it felt as though my eardrums were on the verge of rupture. the pain is similar to diving to 4metres in depth without clearing your nose at all.

the guy at jaben who did my ear impressions told me that the pain is due to the air pressure in between the sponge-like thing and the eardrums. as the sponge-like thing enters deeper into the ear canal, the air pressure in between the sponge-like thing and the eardrums builds up, which results in the tormenting pain.

if this is his reasoning, it makes me wonder why some feel it and some don't?

maybe i have have sensitive ear nerves. mm. The next time i have another custom, i'm definitely going to an audiologist.

At least now we know where to avoid making impressions.
