  1. Nice review! You'll notice that most of the issues regarding soundstage and decay will solve themselves after the cans are burned in properly. My own experience is that the 600's place you on the front row while the DT880 let you listen from the middle of the audience. It depends on what you prefer. :cans:

  2. I auditioned most available portable amps in Singapore and prefer the Headamp AE-2 over all of them. That's my personal opinion off course. If you really want a holy grail go for the Diablo. There's only a 2 year waiting period and you can sell your blood during that time to pay for it. But seriously, the AE-2 has a more quiet, laid back signature then the Tomahawk, which makes it my preference. If you want more dynamics go for the Tomahawk or the Hornet.

  3. At one time I had 2 pairs of Mylar X3 and one XB and only one had trouble with the left driver. I have the X3i now which I use for gaming and portable video and I've had no trouble at all since then. My wife uses the XBi and is also very happy with them. Anyway, I don't think the Mylars are exceptionally prone to spoilage. Off course you need to treat them well :P

  4. What your asking is somewhat like asking if Edam cheese tastes better then Brie. Maybe you don't like cheese at all! :)) It's completely up to you to decide if you like one or the other (or both). Go to SE or Jaben, take your time and try all the types with your own setup. UE and Shure both have a distinct personality and sound signature so even if I tell you I like Shures doesn't mean that they are "better". Even price differences don't guarantee quality difference.

  5. Having owned UE 5, Sennheiser CX300, Mylar One X3, XB and XBi and currently owning the Shure E500's, not to mention having owned the Sennheiser HD 650 and Allessandro MS-1, I have to say that the Shures are worth the money, although not the money they ask here in Singapore. Try to get them used or buy them from a site in the US.

  6. since you got yourself a LDM+, i guess it's okie to use a normal IC for the time being. as it doesnt make significant difference.

I don't agree, it makes a significant difference. When I had my LDM+ and UE 5 EB combi, I experimented with different IC's It's amazing how much the sound changes when you use a good IC. I finally decided on the Ultimate Link Afinity because it tamed the bass more then any other IC I tried. With my current combi the Affinity sounds too muffled so I use a Canare homebrew
