As dennis suggested, it's likely a pot issue. A good place to start would be the solder pads there under the board, make sure that the pins aren't shorting together. Pictures might be helpful.

i use a multimeter to check out resistance both the pot. both L and R shows 0 and 10k when they should.

my friend was suggesting it one of the caps that is giving me the problem. but i have no idea how to do so.

just turn on, and volume becomes max.

left channel follows the pot. only right side doesnt.

sounds like a volume pot problem.... cos i still own 2 mini3s myself. One of its problems is that the huge volume imbalance when turning up the first quater of the pot. You can try changing the pot to something else. U can get one easily from koba, a 10k ohms integrated switch alps pot......RK0971221Z05. gd luck.

how do i unsolder the pot?

throw a huge lump of solder and melt all 8 points together? and try pulling it out?

my one side went very soft. suspected somewhere shorted.

i second the mini3. fantastic for it's price.

but i started off with a cmoy too. to understand the fundamentals.

then can appreciate the mini3 when you take a cmoy as reference.

I think my mini3 alps pot is spoilt.

left chanel working fine but right chanel seems shorted.

when i try to shake it a bit, the sound on right chanel sometimes work and sometimes gets shorted resulting in line level to phones.

anyone has a spare alps pot?

only lost one smd cap when i tried to desolder it and it flew somewhere.

and almost killed a smd resistor by ripping it apart.

SMDs are headaches. but overall good experience

I'm using line-out via ipod to amp.

Wondering how do you all normally set the volume if you are using headphone out to amp.

DAP (low gain) to amp (high gain)

or the other way round?

or 50-50?

yea. able to use EQ when using line-out.

however i set EQ flat. =)
