  1. Yup. Get the SEs. If you really want a phone with music functions, get the W850i. Heard from my friend's set. Plus they come with pretty good headphones.
  2. Hmmm.. do the HD201s fall under the <$100 range? It's really difficult to get full sized cans at the price pt. perhaps you should just get the Philips SHP895 ($99) and the Goldring DR50 ($80) as recommended. Or maybe go down to Jaben for advice before making your final decision.
  3. any extra tubes? If not.. any idea where I can get em in Singapore?
  4. Congrats on your purchase Malhead.. may you have many happy listening moments. And to answer your question.. does the MS2 "deserve" a better source... well, let's just say that there's no end to "is-this-good-enough". Read in a few posts and most would suggest getting BEST gears that you can afford.. and STICK WITH 'EM!
  5. the HD280s have been popular for quite a while now. Good isolation headphones. Hmm... can i suggest the KSC75? havent heard them but plenty swears by them.
  6. SR60 or MS-1 + OUTDOORS = VERY bad. they're open cans. That means you can't hear your music but everyone can hear yours.
  7. Hello Thank you for your replies. The int amp is the Audiolab 8000A and the CD player's a Micromega Stg 3. I'm not too sure what Power chords and interconnects my dad will be giving me, but he says that they are reasonable... i won't complain and am counting my blessings I understand that both the 8000A and stage 3 have headphones out, but based on what I have read thus far, they are usually of inferior quality as compared to a dedicated headamp. Therefore, I am considering getting one that could go well with low imp headphones (i.e. MS2i and DT880 at the moment, both have an impedance of 32 ohms. Possibly an AKG in the future) At the moment, the Heed canAmp seems to be getting a lot of attention and praise on Head-fi. was just surfing around and found that the Gilmore Lite and Meier Aria is in the price range as well. So was just bumping around asking for suggestions. Hopefully, there might be somebody who has one of these amps and I could try them out. Better still if someone plans to sell them I'm considering the Meier Headfive as well. Cheaper but how much better does the more expensive ones perform?
  8. Do a quick search for these: AKG K81DJ Senn 280 pro If you don't mind IEMs, the Crossroad mylarones are quite popular nowadays. together with the usual suspects of shures e2, UEsuper.fi 3 and UM1.
  9. Yo Champion Boxer.... why are you thinking of getting an upgrade? what is it about the PX200 that you do not like? That way, it might paint a better pic for us to recommend you something.
  10. Hello Has anyone done a comparison for these amps: HEED canamp vs Gilmore Lite vs Meier Aria, pairing them with the DT880 and/or MS2i?
  11. I've got the HD497. It's better than your regular earbuds, BUT for a little more you can get the grado SR60 which is a whole new league altogether. plus the HD497 are discontinued models. So.....
  12. Ermm... thought the OP was looking "clarity, strong and tight bass, comfort" and can be used outdoors. So I guess grado would be out since the sound will leak like nobody's business.... Well, u can always try the IEMs. Crossroads Mylarone's been getting good reviews. and it's cheap. less than 1/2 your budget.
  13. Get the AKG K-81DJ Monitoring Headphone. Where to get? Search the forum. there's a list of the price as well.....
  14. If u want to purchase them from Singapore, there are 2 places that are frequented : Jaben and Stereo Electronics. Of course there are the other cable shops but then again, let's keep it as simple as possible. Jaben has got the dock-soldered ICs or u can buy the dock separately. The latter allows u to play around with all sorts of cables. Price wise, better for you to head down there and talk to him. You should bring your headphone along too so that you could head what kind of sound u like. SE has got just the ICs and dock-soldered ICs. I'd say that both shops have got good cables. Let your ears decide
  15. Harlow. I was wondering how do you guys store your beloved headphones. Maybe you can post your pics here to share with the rest the forumers
  16. Yep.... Doubt an amp would help "improve" the px100 substantial enough to justify the cost of the amp.
  17. I've been trying several phones lately, and i'd recommend the MS-2 or the DT880. This is because you specifically mention that you don't listen to a lot of rock, and the MS-1s with rock is simply "wow" because of its "forward" sound signature. BUT, IMO, the MS-2's clarify is substantially better while still possessing the "forward" sound. Do note that there are some who do not fancy the allesandro/grado's forwardness. The DT880's are more laid back and gives the impression of more room which, IMO, is better for instrumental/soundtracks (I assume your saoundtracks are stuffs like StarWars/Harry Potter/LOTR). However, these 2 cans are slightly above your budget. But it's better than knowing that there's better sound out there and constantly craving for it. of course at the end of the day, everyone would recommend you going down and test the cans yourself. So happy listening. and remember to bring along some of the stuffs that you enjoy listening to
  18. I guess, at the end of the day, you have to figure out whether u'll want to use other cables as your I/Cs. Diff cables have diff sound sig and the diff is rather apparent, IMHO. On the other hand if you use the using docks + separate I/Cs, it might be a little "loose", therefore, might not be fantastic if you travel around with your player and amp.
  19. Hi. I am thinking of selling my MS-1s to upgrade to MS-2s. Bought from Hung Bros on 28/11/06. Hope to sell it for S$145. Comes with both the 414 pads (unopened) and the Grado bowls. pm if interested.
  20. hi storm Haha. Once you've figured it out, perhaps you can PM me if you have something extra in your set-up and plan to get rid of
  21. Hi After much reading and contemplation, I've decided to get a line-out dock for my Ipod. Apparently it's help improve the SQ by quite a bit. Will have to try it out, but before I make my purchase, I need some help with regards to this matter. I found out that I can either purchase the dock by itself + interconnect OR should I just purchase one with the cable already connected to the dock. Which would be more advisable?
  22. Hi ssheavy I got mine from Hung Bros for S$169. it includes the adapter but i thought the PAv2 uses the 1/8"? (the headphones jack for my MS-1's the 1/8. So I have no use of the 1/8" to 1/4") From Alessandro's site...NOTE: Models listed "w/ mini-plug" come with a small 1/8" plug plus the adaptor to convert to full size 1/4"
  23. Errr, can we try out the IEMs? I was at Hungs and they refused. Thought it's quite logical because personally i think it can be really disgusting (saw a pair of e2c at Apple Shop@Wheelock... 1 word... ewwww) Anyway, perhaps the OP should consider the etys also, since you mentioned you want something "clear". It's just a little above your budget though. I had a pair of the panasonics too. The wire got kinda "spongy" and the outer layer splitted and I could see the copper wires. sigh.
  24. Heya I am new here. haha.. perhaps I can start contributing...... I saw this biker in NIE and he was wearing his etys before zooming off. Haha... anyone here?
