  1. sghound, where did you get your atrios to custom?

straight from the Future Sonics site. this is the Custom Ear Monitors and they use an even better version of the atrios driver.

the ultimate power of 1. no more robbing of musical fun with multiple armatures & xover. the FS is currently the most natural sounding of all IEMs.

go for it! u won't regret one bit.

  2. been poisoned~~ juz gotten the d2000 from jaben today, wanna ask any amps that goes well with it? thx

haha congrats. nowhere on the planet currently will u find bass detail like that. u can feel the harley fumes on those.

RSA amps are perfect with denons. ray's amps are very aggressively forward in nature and will give the denons a lovely boost in the mids. either the hornets or toma will be perfect. due to the low impedance of the denons, using a desktop amp will most likely give u gain problems. thus a small portable amp will do the trick.

  3. No chance to try one. Read somewhere the D5000 has 'tighter' bass and overall better clarity. Would like to know your comparision. regards,

it's not just tight bass, it's bass u can actually feel, it's bass where details get extracted without the need of a powerful amp. rare stuff in the world of headfi.

the d5000 has a wider soundstage than the W1000. for mids and highs, it takes the W5000 to better it, but the W5000 still sounds limp in the bass dept when compared to the d5000.

  4. Somemore questions. Do you guys have any recommendations for decent sources below $250? What's the main difference between the AD900 and the AD700? Do they require amps?

a good decent source is the Pioneer DV300 dvdp. dun look down on this baby just coz it's a dvdp, hi-end priced Goldmund makes use of the Pioneer dvdp circuitry for their dedicated 2-ch sources. can be found for below $100. the stock unit is already very good and modding it will bring the player to another level.

the 900 has better cabling which makes it sound more airy than the 700 plus it comes with more comfortable velvet pads. the 900 is also lighter and places less stress on the head. both cans are easily driven by even portable sources and can be improved further by using a headamp.

  5. Sorry, new to the world of audio here. Actually, I was thinking if i should increase my budget and get either the HD650s or the Grado SR325. But what are the differences between the two? As for amp, I'm not too sure what works best with which cans.

how much do u wanna increase budget? inclusive of amp?

  6. When buying additional cards to expand on memory, do I need to buy a specific class of card? Will a slow card cut it?

class 6 have better transfer speeds.

no point getting slower cards coz they're about the same price.

I see...now it makes sense to get a D2 instead. Looks like Amazon is out for me. There were many times I wish I had a card but most of the time I don't even need it, and it doesn't make sense to pay all those fees. Nevertheless, I'll have a look into it.

what's a common visa yearly fees like down under?

  7. Yes, that's what I've always done when looking at external HDD. The SD cards are always getting cheaper however, so I'll need to look out for that. Cowon makes the iAudio 7 as well. What's your opinion on this?

i7 sounds great as well but mem is limited and not expandable.

a Transcend 16gb Class 6 speed card with free card reader is only $115 at memory world sim lim.

yeah u can also buy the 16gb d2 at amazon for dirt cheap if u gotta card, that's what i did. but getting from boon gives a sense of security coz of the warranty. but since u're down under, just grab from amazon, they'll deliver.
