sghound, where did you get your atrios to custom?
straight from the Future Sonics site. this is the Custom Ear Monitors and they use an even better version of the atrios driver.
the ultimate power of 1. no more robbing of musical fun with multiple armatures & xover. the FS is currently the most natural sounding of all IEMs.
go for it! u won't regret one bit.

Anyone knows where to get Cardas and Mogami cables locally and how much do they cost per feet? I am talking about loose cables for DIY work.
Thanks!
cardas from coherence in adelphi.
mogami from well audio in burlington.

been poisoned~~ juz gotten the d2000 from jaben today, wanna ask any amps that goes well with it? thx
haha congrats. nowhere on the planet currently will u find bass detail like that. u can feel the harley fumes on those.
RSA amps are perfect with denons. ray's amps are very aggressively forward in nature and will give the denons a lovely boost in the mids. either the hornets or toma will be perfect. due to the low impedance of the denons, using a desktop amp will most likely give u gain problems. thus a small portable amp will do the trick.
-
the atrios are so good, that i've abandoned my UM2, SE530 and Livewires & UE10 customs. multiple armature drivers & xovers can never recreate that natural feel, seemless from top down.
the atrios customs are now my new king of the hill. plus it's got the silkiest non-microphonic cable u'll ever own.
-
Generally, I think the UE11 is slightly over bassy for some.
and that's why they have the UE10 for those who hate the 11.
-
What kind of instrumental music are you referring to?
Symphony? Chamber? New Age?
HD650 is a fine choice if you add/upgrade an amp (sooner or later u will be tempted to do so)
waay beyond his budget.

Where can one hear a D5000 wo that searching look!
take a leap of faith with the famous D2000, it'll give you an idea about the D5000.
-
Now that's something to hear about! Aside from the 'special effect' like listening in an 'earthquake zone', are the high, mid and bass finely balanced? My personal preference is for a balanced sound. regards
yes sir time for u to try it!
-
No chance to try one. Read somewhere the D5000 has 'tighter' bass and overall better clarity. Would like to know your comparision. regards,
it's not just tight bass, it's bass u can actually feel, it's bass where details get extracted without the need of a powerful amp. rare stuff in the world of headfi.
the d5000 has a wider soundstage than the W1000. for mids and highs, it takes the W5000 to better it, but the W5000 still sounds limp in the bass dept when compared to the d5000.
-
Have you tried the ATH-W1000 (Audio Technica) for a comparision? I believe they are quite similar. Try it. regards
it's world's apart. try it!

Oh. Thanks for all the info. Where may I purchase the DV300 in Singapore?
Just to confirm, is the player this one? http://www.pioneer.com.sg/storefront/Produ...6&CatId=64,7,11
yep tats the one.
try alexandra village, dirt cheap there.

Somemore questions. Do you guys have any recommendations for decent sources below $250? What's the main difference between the AD900 and the AD700? Do they require amps?
a good decent source is the Pioneer DV300 dvdp. dun look down on this baby just coz it's a dvdp, hi-end priced Goldmund makes use of the Pioneer dvdp circuitry for their dedicated 2-ch sources. can be found for below $100. the stock unit is already very good and modding it will bring the player to another level.
the 900 has better cabling which makes it sound more airy than the 700 plus it comes with more comfortable velvet pads. the 900 is also lighter and places less stress on the head. both cans are easily driven by even portable sources and can be improved further by using a headamp.

Sorry, new to the world of audio here. Actually, I was thinking if i should increase my budget and get either the HD650s or the Grado SR325. But what are the differences between the two? As for amp, I'm not too sure what works best with which cans.
how much do u wanna increase budget? inclusive of amp?
-
no amp? below $400? easy. checkout the Audio-Technica AD900.
-
250 probably can get a ATH-A700. I pretty good close headphone. Open wise theres quite some good one like grado, beyers, ATH-AD, Siens HD lower series.
$215 can get the AD-700. for normal home use, go for open cans.
-
how bout denon d1001 [or d1000] for 'closed' one
great idea!
-
5) Denon AH-D1000 (forget about the new 1001 that's just a cosmetic change) - apart form my Roland RH50 headphones, they are THE most comfortable headphones i've EVER had.
Style......amonst that lot, it'll have to be the Denon's.

Rockboxed iPod 5.5G? Top up to about $238 and you can get a 30GB refurbished one from Apple Store.
tats another option, but the poor batt life after rockboxing is a major deterrent.
-
I think the westone UM-2 already had the RIGHT amount of bass. Super comfort earphone.
westones one of the most comfortable iems ever.
amount of bass is one thing, bass gripping detail is another. something which sets the atrios from the others.

Late reply, but it was somewhere around 2k plus a little...
LOL for multimedia??????????????????

Definitely the Futuresonics Atrio! Get it from Slowth!

There's always some talk also about cards with no fees (with drawbacks such as very high interest, or otherwise only temporarily free of fees), but nobody's been able to point me towards a good choice as of yet.
get the cc, buy from amazon, payback the $ & cancel the card. problem solved.
-
When buying additional cards to expand on memory, do I need to buy a specific class of card? Will a slow card cut it?
class 6 have better transfer speeds.
no point getting slower cards coz they're about the same price.
I see...now it makes sense to get a D2 instead. Looks like Amazon is out for me. There were many times I wish I had a card but most of the time I don't even need it, and it doesn't make sense to pay all those fees. Nevertheless, I'll have a look into it.
what's a common visa yearly fees like down under?
-
Yes, that's what I've always done when looking at external HDD. The SD cards are always getting cheaper however, so I'll need to look out for that. Cowon makes the iAudio 7 as well. What's your opinion on this?
i7 sounds great as well but mem is limited and not expandable.
a Transcend 16gb Class 6 speed card with free card reader is only $115 at memory world sim lim.
yeah u can also buy the 16gb d2 at amazon for dirt cheap if u gotta card, that's what i did. but getting from boon gives a sense of security coz of the warranty. but since u're down under, just grab from amazon, they'll deliver.
Where to get Cardas and Mogami cable locally?
