  1. Thanks for the link. Wow, $400...it's time to get broke again! I'm actually considering to buy just a 4GB version and then to add large capacity cards as they get cheaper. Would this make more sense if I do not need massive storage immediately?

I'm still in complete disbelief as to how royally sc**wed things can become in just a few seconds.

calculate the price per gb and u'll find the 16gb one being the best deal.

  2. heyy. this is just an advise from me. but you gotta decide what you're gonna use your speakers for. what sounds good for movies, may not be good for music and vice versa.

after you decide what you wanna use your set for, you gotta see how big your room is gonna be. floorstanders may provide the deep bass that you're looking for but will be overpowering if you're using it in a small room. floorstanders also require more juice out of your amp, so, you're gonna need more money too.

while the Klipsch promedia has excellent reviews and is probably one of the best speaker set to get at its price, it might not do as good or as versatile as a dedicated amp + loudspeaker combo.

since your room is rather small and you're a bass junkie. here's my recommendation.

get an integrated amp with a power of 30watts. you can get more powerful amps but 30 is enough. try looking up at echoloft for cheap but good amps, brands like the nad, pioneer, marantz, denon etc. it shouldnt cost you more than $200.

next is the loudspeaker. personally for a small room, i dont think you need a subwoofer. neither do you need floorstanding speakers. a bookshelf speaker (stands optional) with a bass driver of 8inches should suffice. again, you can look up echoloft for these 2nd hand speakers. "budget" brands include mission, wherfedale and jbl. can get below $200. if you're willing to splurge, then maybe invest in better speakers like kef, quad, tannoy etc.

a dvd player may not give out a cds full potential. so you might want to get a proper cd player too. and as always, look up echoloft for people selling cheap cdp. brands like NAD, marantz etc should suffice.

once you have a basic set, you can slowly upgrade your system for better performance. like a pre + power amp. a dac. etc.

    hope this helps!

no need hifi setup, it's for "Music, Movies and Games purposes" and playing "R&B, Drum & Bass and Trance" as stated above.

promedia is more than enough to suit the purpose.

  3. Wow their promos are great, Thanks!

I saw some reviews about tannoy and are pretty good about it

Gonna do some research on Klipsch, is a new brand to me lol

klipsch is one of the oldest brands in speakers. the promedia throws a large soundstage for its dimunitive size.

    u won't regret.

  4. it must be, becoz most of the time ppl only go to the 'usual' audio shops for headphones namely jaben, stereo electronics and hung bros...etc amongst others, and they dun sell the denon brand headphones, so ppl dun get to try it and duno how good they really are, and i can say the denon 1001 should be one of the best headphones for $200 n below for those on a budget, i wished i knew bout these earlier too....might be saving up for a denon 2000 too if i get to try the demo set in the future n hear how really great it is~

glad to hear there's another open set of ears!

heard the 1001 too, and i think it's very much underrated. if u get a chance, pls give the Creative Aurvana Live! a listen. i strongly suspect this Creative is an OEM sister of the 1001. slight cosmetic differences aside.

  5. btw i tried the d1001 at farle recently, and i thought it sound good already too, had good bass and wasnt bass-light like some others had commented, but couldnt try the d2000 as the demo-set was sent for repairs, i cant imagine of d1001 already sounds good, how the d2000 is gonna sound like....

    locally the d2k is a best-kept secret.

  6. **OT rant**

I am really amazed that the price (S$1500) of a set of IEM can induce celebration.... :rclxub: Maybe I should  about my sad condition of not being able to join in the celebration.

    **end rant**

u haven't seen $2000 UE customs owners dancing in the mosh pits?

  7. o lordy, it's officially the most beautiful customs yet. SOFT SILICONE!! lovely cable choices, neutrik L-plug & the classy Pelican case! triple drivers triple xover, this baby is gonna have a long wait time soon. my guess & hope on the sound is gonna be between the UE10 (triple drivers double xover) & the UE11 (quad drivers triple xover). which means those who do not like the bombastic bass of the UE11 will find this ACS T1 the better balanced solution over the UE10. sound signature will be around the same due to the same brand Knowles drivers used in all of them.

    westone, are u listening?
