  1. Hi, can you please explain what are the different results that can be obtained due to different terminations? Thanks.

different results to your liking and different setups. i could explain warm, but that might be neutral to someone else, and vice versa. i could explain bright, but that might be neutral to someone else, and vice versa.

so all i will say is that there's no way of knowing unless u try it yourself. and u might pleasantly surprised with at least one the combos suggested.

  2. Thanks for the recipe. The Belden 1505F/Canare RCAP should be convenient and easy to obtain from LHS.

do take note the different terminations will give vastly different results.

both cables are easily obtainable from LHS and both can be used with RCAPs. the 1505F is crimped but the Canare star-quad is soldered.

  3. I am actually referring to the 7N-A2070 and 6N-A2400 series of the Acrolink cables, though the cables in the lower range are also quite good but not as startling.

Can you suggest any pro cables that sound organic? I would really like to try them out.

personally i do not like cables to have any nature. i wanna know that they dun exist. if i'm looking for anything organic, that must already come from either my amps or speakers. i want my source and cables to be transparent. so it depends on what u looking for.

well here's a couple of simple but effective recipes that replaced my kimber selects. specswise the belden has superior double-shielding and lower capacitance than the kimbers. specs dun always give auto results but in this case it did. the other canare has only single-shield but the star-quad arrangement acts like another shield, and this can be soldered shotgun, also with great results.

Belden 1505F w/Furutech FP-106 Rhodium rca or w/canare RCAP (some setups prefer this simple crimped 75ohms termination)

Canare L4-E6S w/WBT-0110 NextGen pure copper rca.

again, it might or might not work for u, just a couple of recipes i picked up from some japanese studio engineers.

  4. Bro, have you ever tried surfing the web on your mobile phone, PSP or a PDA?

Small screen + lack of qwerty keyboard + no intuitive means of navigation = absolute pain

do it all the time with the moto q9 with qwerty and all. more and more websites are now mobile formatted, making it damm easy to navigate.

there are however sites which are really not compatible at all, and heavy to load. other than that, the web browser on a smartphone is the best app u can have, more for convenience and checking stocks/sports results/forum postings than heavy surfing, for that a full-fledged PC or laptop is essential.

  5. seriously speaking, what does a hifi interconnect do? Recover lost frequency?

Studios uses the beldens/mogamis/canares. Why are we spending so much on interconnect when it all began with cheap stuffs.

Everyone agree that garbage in= garage out. And since at the beginning cheap cable are used, why are we spending so much on our hifi cables.

good point. most of the music recordings are patched together using belden/mogami/canare. only gullible audiophools get drawn into the marketing Bull that the industry so loves thrive on.

  6. Currently I use my RS-1 and K701 pretty often and leaving my HD600 and DT880 alone.

For me the upgrade patch is more like this:

    Headphones

    Amplification

    Source

    Cables

almost the same here, currently i use my D2000 & K701 pretty often, and sold the HD600/650 & DT880.

For me the upgrade patch is more like this:

    source

    amp

    cans

    snakes

  7. I'm afraid you won't hear much difference between 320 kbps MP3 and FLAC encoded files, even with your UE10's.

some people will be able to distinguish between the 2 formats. thru my cowon + customs, the difference is night & day. again, your mileage might vary.

  8. As above, but for my laptop and a DT880 (250 ohms)..

I went to test out the Go-Vibe and Go-Vibe Magnum yesterday, expecting the kind of sound quality I get from listening to music in Gramophone (kind of far fetched, but I was expecting something similar, given that the phones they use are entry lvl, and the amps don't look like expensive ones), and I just didn't feel the 'wow' factor when listening to my songs.. soundstaging wasn't as big as I expected, the songs weren't really crystal clear sounding, and all I could really feel improved vs my laptop soundcard was smoother vocals, instruments, better seperation, less coloured, and just easy on the ear. I'm not sure whether I was expecting too much, or is it just because the pairing of the dac/amp and headphones weren't that great.

So can anyone recommend something that pairs well with the dt880? I prefer instrumentals+vocals, jazzy/acoustic/easy listening/slow rock type of songs, with more emphasis on clarity of vocals, somewhat larger soundstaging (but more emphasis on instrumental seperation), and a more natural sound signature.

I'm new to amps and dacs, so I guess I got kinda carried away just reading off comments instead of going around trying them.. :innocent:

gonna suggest a tube amp to pair with the 880, it'll give a lovely balance to your preferred music genres. and maybe wow you along the way. what's your budget?

  9. That's perfect. In some of the reviews it says that when there is no battery in the unit (and active noise cancelling is thus off), the sound becomes flat, muddy or 'distant'. Is this true? There has also been some mention that in some bass-heavy music, the sound can become distorted. Have you experienced this? As I mentioned before, a bass is desireable but I'm not bass head. Still, distortion as a result of heavy bass is a concern.

not the best bass in the world but no concerns whatsoever. if u're already used to the AT presentation, it's a no-brainer.
