Cowon D2 if you don't need a big screen. I own one. Excellent battery life and sound quality. I bought iphone recently so I am thinking of selling it off. Pl. PM me if you are interested in D2.

D2 has the best battery life i have seen in a DAP. You won't regret it.

Thanks for the info guyz, I have purchased my second-hand ipod video 60GB and have rockboxed it... the sound is warmer than the D2.

May consider selling my D2 now... hehehe

You could have a go at the yuins - ok2,ok3 or pk2 or pk3

if you change back, converting your ALAC back to FLAC shouldn't take that long either...

50+GB of flac will take a while...

means I have to look for a old ipod... not classic

If you do not wish to rockbox it, you can also convert all the FLAC files into Apple Lossless with dbPoweramp.

 

Converted all my FLAC (around 400 files) in quite fast speed!

I have a few thousand files that are flac and I dun want to use a apple format in case i decide to change back to cowon or iriver.

Which means none of the ipods can be modded sigh. The reason why I want to move to ipod is becos of the line-out

so the current ipod on the market is the 5.5gen version?

If I am not wrong Gramaphone have a section where they sell second-hand CDs, not a lot though.

The other alternative is Ca$h Converter... hehe

I am currently using the cowon D2 and want to change to a apple ipod. The problem is that most of my music is in flac format. What is the current version of the ipod and can I rockbox it to play flac? Any other recommendations?

I had my e5c RMA recently but not with Grandtech and the sales person was very polite but had to wait a wk for them to ship in the new scl5 from hk.

I prefer the sound from the UM3. more neutral sounding with wider soundstage then SE530 but slightly less bass

you could go for the um2 or shure se210.

these are mid range IEMs

listening to prodigy - breathe

without amp - bass is slightly boomy, mids are smooth

amp - lower bass is tighter and not so boomy, cannot feel any difference in the mids, slightly wider sound stage

sarah brightman - time to say goodbye

without amp - Sarah and Andrea's voice sounds so smooth

amp - much smoother voices

I would say there is a slight improvement in overall sound. Sorry dun know how to describe the sound I hear very well

I set the vol at 50 and 9 o'clock on the P51 with low gain

The P51 is smaller than the d2. Its like the size of a matchbox but thicker

Also, is there a sound signature that is added?

 

The P51 is already very transparent to me, there is no added sound signature. It sounds very neutral

I just bought the um3x... music is simply heavenly but i am using the p51 to amp the d2

Its the best... I also own the D2 and I find the sound fantastic with great battery life
