  1. CK100, CK10 and TF10 have some of the best treble found in universal IEMs. Be it details or extension, they are almost perfect in their own way. The er4 series seems to be great as well but I do not have the pleasure to try them. But the 13s are on another league when it comes to treble and in fact everything else. Extension and details are a few steps above the top 3 that I have mentioned and the way it is presented keep it from being bright unlike the ck100 and the ck10 and it is so smooth it is unbelievable. I find the treble on the TF10 to be a bit harsh just a bit but the 13 has none of that. It is my definition of the perfect treble presentation. Just to note, I did not have an amplifier(never will) during my audition so imagine what will happen when you pair them with a good amplifier.

wow, this sounds too good to miss. i am already quite happy with my tf10 on treble performance. you description almost put a must try/have for me.

forgot to check with you on the separation & spacious (airy, right?), does the vocal stands out from the music & more airy than tf10?

  2. I will admit I did not own any of the IEM mention above but I did have extensive listening period with both the TF10 and universal version of JH13. The TF10 is good by universal standards especially the treble and the rather spacious sound which is not found in most IEM but the demo version of the JH custom is another story. The best trait of the TF10 to me is it's treble detail and extension but that is nothing compared to the 13s. Custom TF10 would no doubt improve the sound but the same can be said with the 13s.

My point is unlike the 13, the TF10 is designed to be a universal IEM not a custom where as the 13 is designed from scratch to be a custom so everything from the crossover to even the positioning of the driver has been done by custom standards. The TF10 can be made to custom to provide better fit which in turns contribute to better sound to ones ears but the crossover and the positioning of the driver is only designed by the researchers to match TF10 original shell and nothing else so no doubt they are good but they can't compete with customs by just re-shelling alone. More research need to be done before re-shelled universals can compete with the real deal.

on the topic of treble, how will you describe the 13 when comparing to tf10. i love treble

  3. True 5.1 = 2 main speakers, 1 centre, 2 surrounds, 1 sub. So there's no such thing as true 5.1 for headphone, all are virtual surround.

The best wireless now is using Kleer technology. I've using the Senn MX-W1 which works very well, feel like wired earphone.

They do have two model of headphone to choose from.

    http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/home_...ireless%20Kleer

i do have a gaming/movie headphone roccat kave which have few drivers so was wondering if there is any similar in wireless as i dislike having the cable around.

  4. Hope to get the above but they dont feature 5.1ch, do they? I google around, all i come across are using effect to provide virtual surround.

Is there any which uses a true 5.1ch?

If there is, will there a big diff for 5.1ch & virtual headphone?

how good is wireless nowadays, will the transmission be interfered by other wireless microwave, digital cordless or handphone?

  5. No, the clipping sound is from the recording, not from the IEM. I tried with 3 different IEMs, I can hear the same clipping sound. It is microphone overloaded sound (I do recording as well), might not detected on speaker monitor if the speaker monitor detail is not very revealing. But IEM is very revealing to detail, that's why we can hear it. It is also not recoverable using compressor.

that meaning i got quite a few bad press CD

  6. I'm not sure, but if both ears have the same sensitivity, I don't think so. Canal resonant is affecting more on the tonal balance.

For sensitivity, you can try to listen to mono signal, which must be located exactly in the center of our head (between the 2 ears). If you think it is not exactly center, it could be the player problem, not giving balance sound, of the ears sensitivity are different.

ops.. then it is either my ear got problem or the amp vol pot or lod got problem

  7. Yes, I hear the same distortion at time around 2:35-2:37, and another one at around 2:48-2:51. I think it's clipping sound. I play using iPod 6G 80GB & TF10, volume around 55%. I tried using Superlux HD381F IEM, also the same clipping sound. So I guess could be clipping during recording, when their voice is just too loud for the microphone, and undetected in editing.

do you face the issue on other album or female vocal on high with tf10.

  8. TF10 re-shelled is just an universal IEM dressed as a custom they won't sound as good as true custom should but they are a cheaper and fun alternative. I've not tried the 16 but I did have a go with the 13 and the 11 and they are on a league of their own. Bottom line is go for the real deal if you got the cash or re-shell your TF10 if you don't. Re-shelling does improve your fit tremendously and with better fit they might sound better but they won't sound as good as or even close to the JH.

thanks for your reply, this makes my decision easier.

  9. When using IEMs when jogging, please be aware of your surroundings. Wait you so engrossed, can't hear people warning you of traffic or hear the car horn.

    Be careful.

Having said that, I also use IEM for exercise but only in the gym. Used a pair of MylarOnes, unfortunately they just died.

if jogging in stadium, still ok. on pavement with car park access or running track with bicycle track next to it, will be no no for iem.

  10. I just realised that while listening to Andrea Bocelli's The Prayer (Duet with Celine Dion) in lossless i get a bit of a crackling sound on the highs.. is this normal or are my drivers faulty? i dont seem to hear the same crackling sound when i play it through my desktop speakers.

Yes, I have the same issue. Initially I thought it is my ipod issue. I send my ipod to apple for inspection but after they replaced it, it is still the same. Then I change my dvd drive to pioneer and rip song with slower speed and it got a lot better. It is due to the sensitivity of the driver, I guess. It will surface when you listen to vocal on high especially for female vocal.

  11. Hi all, im currently using the comply foam tips that came with my UE TF10s.

However, i cant seem to get a good seal using the foams, perhaps im wearing it wrongly. How do you guys wear it?? is it supposed to easily slip off when im wearing it? How do i know whether im getting a good enough seal?

Eg. when i remove my silicons from my ears they make a "pop" sound so i know im getting a good seal. What about comply foams?

You may wish to give shure foam a try. I find them more firm compare to the original UE foam. Shure foam last longer too.

  12. I do agree I find W3 a little bright and bass presence is a little more than TF10. I find much easier listening to TF10 for long hour than W3 for vocal.

As our ears canal have different resonant frequency, they might sound a bit different on different ears.

A quick check here, will this gives you the impression that one side is louder or soft than the other side when listening through iem or headphone.

  13. AT W1000? Could you post more impressions on them? Maybe start a new thread? Would like to know more about them. Thanks.

Wa the SE210 is so expensive? Top up $100+ can get sf5p?

I am very new to audio listening but my ear like the vocal from W1k compares with w5k. Anyway thinking now, my pocket also dun really like w5k too.

W1k mid & high sound natural to me & bass is just about right for me while find W5k high is a little too bright, find it too unreal/unnatural for me but its bass is good, no doubt about it when compares with W1k.

SE210 is about 250 and SF 5pro is about 370, rite?
